  1. I went down to the park about 11:15 last night.....southwest wind made it tricky to cast but I managed to give a ride home to a 22" 3.8 # walleye . Vampire f18 Tim
  2. I believe after fishing with Justin (on plane) at 3 mph and then fileting up the numerous walleyes and checking stomach contents to find NOTHING in them the entire summer, that it was merely a reaction bite only and they were not eating. When your burning a taildancer across their nose at 3 mph they go into autopilot and the vibration triggers the strike. Not because they were hungry. If any of those fish had anything at all in their stomachs , I would think otherwise. Its like the 6" rock bass that I caught on my F18 the other night. I dont think he hit it because he was hungry, it was a reaction to the vibration going by. I asked him what he was thinking, but he just looked at me! And, Justin can tell you how many different species were caught at that same speed. Tim
  3. Sweet! So did you stay on shore or wade out a bit?
  4. I've only been casting from shore...but there was a guy wading there the other night
  5. A lot of times these predators are in TIGHT.. make sure to cast parallel to shore more times than you care to.....you might be surprised!
  6. Believe it or not...I'm only using 6'6"s however I wil be getting longer ones. My 6'6" is now 5'10"? I'm really good at shortening them up...my ugly stiks are the only ones that survive!
  7. I busted the tip off my rod the other night in the toon! Time to go shopping.....again. for an f18(s) and a new casting rod! If you keep at it...you should be able to get an 8lbr. Tim
  8. Good Idea Les, I think I 'll start putting a return address on all my lures!
  9. Welcome to the F18 losers club! They aint much"slurpin" on Otisco....when you hear em its crashing and thrashin! 8 lb walleyes dont slurp they EAT! Congrats! Tim
  10. fill them boxes! Good luck!
  11. Thought I would wait til after the moon set to get out...bout 3am got out on the toon..caught 1 22" 4.2# eye quickly. And a lmb that was 5.7 #! That was all until I gave up at 630...water temp still 60..think the bite is stuck in a rut until we get some weather changes Tim
  12. Thanks for bringing me along Justin! I may be the hardest working fisherman you ever met , but you absolutely hands down take the "most obsessed walleye angler on the planet" honors! The amount of $ spent, gas burned , hours not sleeping so you could fish, I doubt there is too many that are AS committed to being successful as you are! The knowledge we both gained by working together paid out well! I learned that just cuz other people don't do it that way(walleye fishing) , doesn't mean it cant be successful! AND Walleyes don't care for Beyoncé! Tim
  13. Got out with the toon bout 7 worked the east shore with my dad and a buddy.....I did land a 20" eye on a perfect 10 rogue right by the boat. Thought I would put it on the stringer instead of putting it in the "red cooler of death" Mistake! Fish gone with the clip.! We did make a couplepasses on the pond side with my dad getting a hit and miss. Gave up about 1030. Nice night ...just not for fishing Tim
  14. Out last night on otisco with 2 largies and 1 lost fish. 1 largie was respectable the other was only about 12" Tim
  15. yes it is a lot of work..however..thats why we are out there.....more rods with more lures actually fishing and not just pulling grass allows for more chances at a hookup, obviously. putting walleyes in the box is the goal for everyone and if it that means constantly bringing rods and cleaning and sending them back out...so be it! and when you got 2-3 people that know what they are doing...its not a big deal cuz everybody is after the same thing...GOLD! Tim
  16. Dad and made it to the park last night. Dad had went to BP yesterday to purchase the infamous f18. We get there at dusk....first cast he hooks a fish and loses the 11$ f18. Halfhour later I get a 22" walleye on the new f18 that I had him get me also while he was there. So then 30 min later he yells Bring the net! And lands this huge largie.... We couldn't stop laughing.... Unfortunately for the bass his lack of knowing right from wrong earned him a bucket ride to the grill! Funny how things happen...we were set on going on the boat but my batteries were dead. Good times!!!! Sent from my LG-VM696 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Heres another one to think about....there was alot of bass tournaments all summer with weigh ins on the pond side of the causeway. Those fish are also released there which means more bass capable eating more of the stocked wallehe
  18. outstanding post Brent!... Thanks for following up with yet even more confirmation....I had sent them an email this am as a matter of fact to ask about differentiation between a stocked and wild and if there was a way to tell the difference. 2 way information exchange. More data IS better! Tim
  19. Also what has worked for me that has made the difference between a 1 fish night and a limit is changing up your bait. If you are in a place where you know the walleyes are or you had a hit or two...dont be afraid to switch up. 50 casts of an f18 in front of a walleye may discourage them from hitting. Numerous times ive had a fish on the 1st or second cast of throwing a different bait after throwing the same bait 100 times prior. Keep a couple poles rigged and switch up if things are slow.
  20. Oh and I forgot , I gave casting a try for a couple hrs with one smash on an F18 and that was it. I think this super stable warm weather pattern slowed down the bite maybe a lilttle. Althought we had some nice storms and rain come through this am. I believe some changeable weather would pick things back up. Tim
  21. I met the DEC crew last night as they were returning from the main lake side. The results were similar to what they experienced the night before. Plenty of 5-6# walleyes around , many 27'-30" tigers around the north end/ The bigger tigers apparently tend to take off before they can get to them. All in All, I think you'll find that the lake is in great shape. After spending some time with them asking questions and exchanging info, I walked away with the notion that the walleye stocking is a NECESSITY, not merely a boost to the natural reporoduction that occurs there. ( which BTW is pretty much nonexistent thanks to the alewive population). I don't need to quote them specifically but you get my point. As we were parting ways, the last thing I asked them " what can we do to help you guys out?" and the exact reply was " fill out the angler diary". I commended them for doing a great job and they were on their way. I just became a participant of the angler diary this year and now realize how important it is to them and wished I had done it years ago. I work in an engineering/RandD field and know that "too much data" is way better than "not enough data". You can always sort through the data you have to get what you want, but at least you have that ability to do so. However, I also know that "no data" is better than "inaccurate data". What good is it to fill out an angler diary if it is NOT accurate??? The information exchange is a 2-way street. The more information WE as anglers can give the DEC about OUR fishing trips, the better fisheries managers they become. The more information I can get out of the DEC as it pertains to the body of water and fishing I do, the better fisherman I become. They know how many fish they are putting in each year. Everything beyond that is statistical analysis for the most part, I believe. You can imagine how difficult their job is trying to manage a fishery. Why not make it easier , by providing them with the data they need ? I would rather see them stock more walleyes because more fish are being caught, instead of quit stocking them because there is no interest. This goes for any body of water and any type of fishing you do where stocking is involved. One last thing, I think I can speak for Justin as well. If we(because justin and i fished quite a bit together) ,out of all of the numerous walleyes caught, decided that we were going to throw back any walleye over 22", we would be eating fast food and our freezers would be unplugged. Instead we are looking for new ways to prepare walleye for consumption. I like the second way better. I would rather struggle finding new different ways to cook walleye , rather than struggle on how to catch them! In the meantime, I will be relying on what the fisheries biologists at the dec tell me about the lake I fish, not what somebody on the internet thinks I should be doing as it relates to conservation and fisheries management. The DEC is more than willing to share info if you contact them and have questions about the status of your body of water and your type of fishing. I will do more on sharing info with them from here on out. Now, if I can just figure them out on the ice! Good luck to all wherever your fall bite is! Tim
  22. Yep my fault..however walleyes are like lays potato chips..I can't eat just one! Tim Sent from my LG-VM696 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Thanks for the shout out! and thanks for bringing me on your boat this year MULTIPLE occasions . 9+ lbr??!!!!!! Geez my my limit only consisted of small ones....7.6#, 5.75# and 4.3 #.... (oneida walleye ) Guess I better I step up! Thanks for shopping at Walleye World! TIM
