  1. I hope you're bringing a cooler cuz I know your livewells arent very big! Way to go dude!
  2. IT was a great morning for sure , especially on a lake like "nofishco"! Its great when everyone works together and has the same thing on their mind and that is "boating fish! and willing to work their tail off for it. You will make a h--- of a charter captain someday! Thanks again for the invite! Tim
  3. great read all, when you dont catch the big girls often, once you do , it is a grave reminder how unprepared we are for them! I managed a nice tiger a few weeks back over 40" and over 15 lbs and was bymyself in my little boat. Everything went well, except I didnt not have the pole to handle her. I didnt fight her hard (actuially I couldnt), and she just stayed near the bottom in 15 ft of water for a while before I landed her. However she was out of the water for maybe 30 seconds for a pic and a quick measure After a revival time she swam away well so hopefully all is good. I know one things for sure, the cheap 36" basspro measuring stickers aint no good in Otisco!
  4. I got an idea.....mount the rapala shad rap on the wall with a pic and a few details!
  5. Thanks for a great morning! You have a nice rig that that is the envy of any fellow fisherman/pontoon owner! Couple that with a good work ethic, never give up attitude, and a great personality, it was a great outing. Thanks again tim Sent from my LG-VM696 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. that tiger is eating good ! Nice fish!
  7. I don't think is an abundance of tigers browns or walleyes. Ifanything there is an absolute abundance of forage and BASS. I feel sorry for anything under say 15" in that lake. Walleyes that are caught in that lake are "roaming wolves" just like the tigers and I don't believe you'll ever find a bunch of them in one spot like Oneida. Its a very clear, BUSY lake this time of year and agree that it for sure is a nite bite lake. I consider it a bonus if I catch a walleye before dark. I don't troll much at all and don't have much equipment to do so. I try at night casting and jigging and if its calm and the moon is out bright like it has been the last couple nights, I don't put much effort in it. Also if I don't hear a lot of bigger fish crashing I wont work l terribly hard. In the fall when we do well on the walleyes, they are stuffing themselves on the 10" stocked tigers!!!! So they hold their own. I've heard that walleys have been seen up in the inlet ...but I dont know how successful that is being very muddy and slow moving? I would guess that the alewives put a hurting on the eggs on the clear side on the rocks and gravel? I'm Not very knowledgeable, just my .02. It is a very tough lake but like Justin said the hard work is rewarding when they are typically 24-26" and 4-6 lbs on average. I think I've only caught 1 or 2 walleye that were under 18" in that lake in all my time of fishing it .. ITs getting the time of year now and with the heat coming that lake is going to be crazy. I'll get my early early few hrs in and pick the nights to go out to try for them. Other than that probably during the day I'll get the gills to keep me and the kids busy while the boats and jetskis race all over! Currently I think I am 3 for 6 for walleye outings. 3 times out in the evening I caught 1 each time. Last 3 times its been bass only.
  8. The perch are hungry.....not alot of big ones yet ........ fished skan on saturday....kept 44 between 2 of us .....mostly 9's biggest was 12.5" 14 oz. it will be interested to see what this week's weather will do to the bite
  9. I saw another small 20" tiger on the way back to the dock doin it friday night. I actually stopped my pontoon boat 5 ft away , shined my flashlight on him for about 5 sconds before he disappeared. His entire head to his gills were out of the water and his mouth was wide open..... I'm stumped!
  10. Honestly, In the past 3 years, we've probaly seen it a dozen times on otisco.... I'm probably getting out once a week most of that time ... Last year , middle of summer , middle of the day dead flat calm and hot, me and a buddy chased a 3 ftr around in front of the over look with a trolling motor for about an hour....we got him to turn on a lure once close to the boat.... I do believe I got a couple pics on my old pc of that dude.... Just last week, I was motoring out from ryfuns in the toon and drove by a 20" doing the same thing on the muddy side ? I like the theory of the air bladder as well, but then I saw the smaller fish on the flat shallow muddy side doing the same thing and now maybe the big meal theory is more believable? Who knows , but it is very cool to see , none the less.
  11. Nobody has gotten an answer out of the tigers when they ask them! I see it on Otisco ALOT and those fish would never answer me! There are alot of different theories as to why they do it.....whats funny is I have never seen another species do the same thing... not a pike or a muskie or a pickerel in waters they reside in....
  12. Both launches are on Otisco Valley rd. One at otisco lake marina just north of causeway and one at Ryfuns just south of causeway.. Both are plenty deep enough for bigger boats.
  13. Nice! I should try for a Brown...only fish I haven't caught yet out of Otisco.... Haven't trolled much at all the last couple years....
  14. last month it was caught in caroga lake the year before that it was some place in europe and 3 yrs ago it was caught in canada I think I've been getting that email with those pics since 2006!
  15. congrats miss em.....yeah that was a bright one and calm......great if ya werent walley fishing
  16. Anybody gonna be on otisco this weekend looking for the fish w/ teeth? Tigers or walleyes? I think I'm going to do an early evening to midnite run saturday night .....maybe give the tigers a shot a couple hrs before dark and then switch to walleye mode into the night ....good luck to you if you get out!
  17. the state launch on the west shore just outside of town a few miles was free last time i checked,,,,,great launch ....plenty deep enough....correct me if im wrong
  18. I will be on Otisco for the opener....I just don't know if I'll be tiger hunting during the day or walleye hunting at night Quite a problem to have!
  19. I took the boat out yesterday with 2 others looking for perch. Could NOT get a perch to bite all day. Water temp 36.....pleasantly surprised with a 21" 3.75 lb walleye at 1 pm on a silver small kastmaster tipped with a fathead. Only fish boated yesterday and is now tonights dinner!
  20. Were you wearing the blue coat with the sunglasses on your hat? I was the guy with the black artic armor coat and had fatheads and crawlers I was there until 8 and not a bite.....
  21. not sure about the slider....maybe slip float? Iv'e been dropshotting ...sinker on bottom #4 aberdeen a foot up or a snelled #4 .... seems over here 1 style works better than the other at certain times If they are chewing well and you seem to lose a minnow every time you catch a perch cut up a small perch into 1-2" strips a 1/4 ' wide skin on you can catch quite a few on one piece..those little striped magicians can't quite rip it off!
  22. if its anything like otisco this time of year.......put the nightcrawlers away minnows minnows minnows been doin well with fatheads ...even catchin little 5 inch perch on a 3" fathead that already had a 3" fathead in its throat that it stole from me minutes earlier! we can fish over a school with fatheads and do great and drop a crawler down at the same time...nothing
  23. On Otisco sunday 10/10.... We chased a tiger close to 40" doing this for over an hour! He was going up and down like a dolphin opening his mouth each time like he was gulping air...then he would disappear and show up a few yards away. I got a not so good pic of him next to the boat when he actually followed my buddy's swim bait...but other than that we threw everyhting at him ...not interested...got some real good looks of him though..... Everybody has a theory but I wonder if hes trying to gulp air to help get a large panfish down that lodged in his throat?
