  1. Great Job - I came up empty fishing out of I-Bay with two J-plugs in 30-65 ft. Fished from 4:30 - 7:15. Plugs where down 30 and 40 - saw the marks there.
  2. I'm going out of I-Bay at 4:30ish, was going to set up with some j-plugs in 30-100ft and go hunting. Sorry not much help, if you have a radio, give me a channel and I will let you know what I'm seeing. Good Luck. Eric
  3. Headed out of I-bay yesterday at 3:30 and ran straight north to 200 fow and set up. I ran a wire dipsy SD and Fly (Green) out 360 and a wonder bread spoon on rigger down 90. Flat calm with the biting flies again. I was really working on getting sometime working on my probe since I often don't use it. So I started recording some numbers, the probe was down 100ft the whole time and this is what I recorded: 262fow/56.5, 366fow/59.8, 498fow/60.6, 518fow/60.8, 542fow/49.8 and 554fow/47.2. I feel like now I can't live without it. Was surprised to see temps bounce around, must be the currents. I did make it out to 600fow, that is by far the furthest I have been! Caught one Coho early and a small 10lb king. I picked up early like 7 and ran in since I had to be somewhere but it was a good to be alone and work on my probe usage. Eric
  4. I'm going out of I-bay today after work myself, looking forward to it. Thanks for the wind/wave post.
  5. I have a 2007 185 Scout Dorado - dual console. It's great for the family and fishing - check out the Dorado line of boats made by Scout.
  6. Perfect - thanks guys. I only keep a couple fish, and never keep any full cans of beer.
  7. Looking for some recommendations on cooler size. I own a small 18.5 Scout Dorado boat that I used last year for kings to much success, this year looking to invest in a cooler and was wondering what size you recommend, any help would be great. Thanks.
  8. This is my first year fishing for Kings in deep water off Lake Ontario too. I started the year with two riggers and two wire dispys based upon my homework. I have had sucess everytime I have been out (probably just ended my luck with those words...but), I'm out of I-Bay and my advice is to read this site daily, read books like (Keating on Kings or any Dan Keating book and practice a couple different things at a time until it works. I ran only one dipsy this Sunday and it produce a 12lb and 29lb king in 4 hours on the water, point being sometimes more rods are less effective. Again no expert here and listen to all these members, since they have helped me TONS! I boated 15-20 kings this season! Start slow, safe and methodical - my two cents.

  11. I wanted to fish a Dipsy Diver rig on my boat this year so this is what I got: Reel: Okuma Convector CV30D Rod: 9' Dispy Rod - Cabelas Line: Opti-Tackle 1000' 7 strand 30# stainless wire Question: (read tons and still want an opinion) Should I use all the 1000' wire on the reel with no backing? Also do I need a leader or can the wire go to the Dipsy and then run mono to lure? Thanks for your time. Eric
  12. Why do dogders and flashers have one end with a swivel and the other not?
  13. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Eric / Scout Dorado Hello - I'm fairly new to Salmon fishing on the lake, but it's something I tought I can't pass up living right next to this great lake - so bought a boat, some gear and some lures. I have been reading and I can tell you I have much to learn. ? - can you troll j-plugs or spoons yet and in what depth? I'm free all weekend and hope to learn more on the water! Thanks for your time Eric
