  1. Revenge is SWEET! And so is that fish , man what a fat SLOB of a fish.Chad I think you are some kind of BIG fish magnet , keep up the good work.
  2. Hi Chad and Ed(Ed being the only guy to put a fish in the boat , nice job!). I am still in disbelief and scratching my head at what the heck happened yesterday! 2011 as been a weird year but yesterday every thing was in our favor #1-period of high pressure and warm sunny days(#1a this being in November after the water temps dropped below 50). #2 Large cold front/low pressure system approaching(starting pressure was 30.15 and when I got home it was 29.24 so it was falling through the day). #3 Wind from the south @ 10+ mph. a personal favorite. #4 Between Chad and I we knew where several schools of bait were located and were still there. #5 The full moon is today so we were one day from perfect in that department. All of this in our favor and it was just dead as a door nail no birds feeding , no perch feeding on the schools of minnows , it just doesn't make sense BUT that is musky fishing just when you think you got it figured out WHAM right between the legs! That was the first time I have been skunked since 9/22/2011 and yes I hate being skunked but this is musky fishing. I don't want to use the term humbling because for me days like this just feed the FIRE the next trip I will fish that much harder to make up for it! After all that Chad loved having you in the back of the boat , definitely need to get in another mid-week trip this year we still have a few weeks left. Ed - Again nice job man , so glad to hear somebody boated something even a little one makes the drive home a little shorter.
  3. Way to go Ed!! Nothing like a shot of adrenaline first thing in the morning!
  4. Just keep that bait in the water Ed , these fish are on the move! Hey Chad , thinking I will be there Sunday.
  5. November 3 , 2011 all 3 taken on the Lunge Lumber Prowler
  6. Went to Chautauqua today , the day started out pretty slow which was making me nervous because I knew there was a small cold front coming that was going to pass between 1:00 and 2:00. Had one follow at 8:00 am and that was it until 12:30 when I hooked up with a 49" fattie , a couple of deep hard runs and she was in the net . I love fishing solo but man what a handful! Fish the next couple of hours and saw nothing , the front passed at 2:30 and in the back of my mind I thought "that's the end of that". The wind had changed direction from SW to NE but didn't feel much of a temp. drop so I went to an area where I had seen bait earlier At 5:15 hooked up with a very healthy 44"er a quick pic and back to it , 5:35 a thick 38" to finish the day.Water temp is right at 50 , bait much more scattered now some over open water and the rest tight to the weed line. 49 and 38 came on the Perch Prowler and the 44 hit the Walleye.
  7. Hey Chad , the best gloves I have found are called Ice Armor they are a 100% waterproof ice fishing glove. The standard Ice Armor gloves are available at Gander Mountain they are relatively thin and very warm they also make what they call Ice Armor Extreme (not available at Gander) which are thicker than the standard gloves but have more insulation and most importantly 100% waterproof. I carry a couple extra pair because the outer shell will hold water , and change them about every 3-4 hours. ED - Don't let those fish get you down , some days can be very mentally and physically demanding to say the least but you just have to keep your nose to the grind stone and it will pay off. When you are standing there holding a big Musky in you hands you tend to forget how much time and effort it took to get there. Stay at them ED!
  8. Sometimes ED it is just a matter of persistence , even on the toughest day if you just keep castin' you are bound to find at least one.I have this little voice in my head(this is a symptom of my musky fishing addiction) that pops up when I think about calling it a day before sun down that says , "the next cast could be the ONE" and I keep castin'. This doesn't always pay off but more often than not it does!
  9. Hit Chautauqua yesterday , morning temps in the low 20's and the water temp was 49.8-51.0 range.Only managed to put one in the boat kinda weird day fog didn't lift till after 11:30 , had half a dozen follows until the fog lifted and then it seemed to just shut down.It wasn't until 4:49 pm when I finally got one to hit with only 6-7 feet of line , but at least I avoided the skunk. Got to met "wet the net" on the water yesterday , another quality LOU person , stay after them ED!!!
  10. If you are looking for Lunge Lumber Lures see ad at top of page. You can email me at [email protected] or [email protected] or call 216-849-3629.At this time I don't have them in any bait shops , just a quick email or phone call and I will ship them out(coming from Ohio).I am at Chautauqua twice a week so a drop off is not out of the question. Can also send Private Massage through LOU.
  11. Went to Chautauqua yesterday trying to sneak in before the next cold front dropped in , Weather channel said not till after sun down and it passed @ 12:30. Before it passed I was able to put 2 in the boat a upper 30’s (picture)and a 44 that seems was a little camera shy , she managed to jump out of my hands and back in the water as I was trying to set the timer on the camera. Both fish came before the passing of the front , after 12:30 I never even saw another fish. Water temps were 52 in Mayville to 54 around the Long Point area. Fish still holding to the shrinking weed beds and are really liking the natural colors like Perch and Largemouth Bass,
  12. Yes Joe that was my truck , I was first in and last out.I wish I could have seen Chad's dive .Love the shoes Chad , but all kidding aside it takes some nuts to spend an October day fishing wet from the waist down!We have to let each other know when were heading out in the future.I'm headed back tomorrow.
  13. Any day you can put 3 in the boat is a good day. Nicely done
  14. Headed to Chautauqua for the day Saturday was able to put 3 in the boat , nothing to write home about 2 35's and a 39(almost didn't bother to post after what Chad and Joe did Saturday)Say water temps in 53-54 deg. range vis. is great almost to good.Did get followed by 2 fish that were well over 50 , I am headed back tomorrow to see what I can do.
  15. Nice job Chad and Joe , Way to take care of business!!!! By chance is was there yesterday as well and was able to put 3 in the boat , not of the same quality as yours but not a bad day for musky fishing.Report to follow(have to split firewood while it is still daylight). Well done gentleman , fantastic day!!!
  16. Way to go Chad and Mike .Quantity and Quality all in the same day AWESOME!!!!These fish are definitely coming around. I love it!! Congrats to both of you on your personal bests very nicely done!
  17. WHAT A SLOB!!! now that's a fish! Glad to see someone else had a piece of the AWESOME day.Caught my personal best last October 20 and it looks like this October could be even better.
  18. Still walking around with a huge smile on my face .Was a little nervous about the southeast wind but between the string of nice days(that were coming to an end) , the incoming weather and a little help from the moon it all worked out.
  19. Thanks guys, it was a truly awesome day and one that I won't soon forget.I wish I would of had somebody with me ,seeing the pics and hearing the story are sweet but being there and seeing in person what a RUSH!!!!!! can't wait to get back.
  20. The musky GODS were smiling on me today(it's about time).Got to the ramp at Prendergast had the boat ready to go in the water when I realize I left my camera and mount at home and kinda laugh to myself that this must mean it's going to be a good day. At 8:00 am caught 38 not bad for a warm up.At 9:30 am a very healthy 46 NOW WE ARE TALKIN'.At 9:53 am a 49 inch gator head that just about yanked the rod right out of my hands , a couple of nice jumps(thought she was going to shake the hook loose)and she was in the net.At this point I was in disbelief after having such a tough year.At 10:21 I get BLASTED by a thick 48 1/2 inch fish , another nice little battle and she was in the net.I still can't believe this is happening! Lucky for me for the two bigger fish there were guys taking out docks who took the pictures for me.As fast as it started it was over , good thing for me or my hart probably would have jumped out of my chest! Managed another 40 incher at 5:35 pm had another low 40's fish take two swipes at the bait before turning off.WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Water temp 60.9 in the morning up 63.5 by the end of the day south east wind , still a little algae floating around but vis. overall was good. The 38 came on a Blue Flash 9" Prowler and all of the other fish came a Perch 9" Prowler.Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics but it's better than nothing.
  21. Old Man has you pointed in the right direction as far as where to go , all I have to add is I have be doing better with natural patterns like Perch and Largemouth Bass than the old reliable black(and black is one of my all time favorites) Good luck!
  22. Hey , Joe the water in the morning was 60.5 by early afternoon it was 61.7-62.0 and by one hour after sun down it was 61.0 these are all surface temp. numbers. With the wind mostly out of the north all week the further north you go the better the visibility. The only place it got a little pea soupish was on the north side of long point , north west wind had it trapped there.I would like to say things are turning around but that fish was the only hook up I had all day long(one hour before sunrise til one hour after sunset) had a few aggressive lookers but at the end of the day they don't count. All in all things are still kind of tough out there. Man are those fish eating good or what?
  23. Was able to put one in the boat , had a few other lookers all on 9" Prowler in the Largemouth Bass.
  24. Went to Chautauqua today and it started out like every other day this year SLOOOOW and by slow I mean I didn't even see a fish from 5:45AM till 2:15 PM.At 2:20 just outside of Lower Dewittville Bay I pulled a fat 42"er from between the deep weed line 11'-12' FOW and 8'-9' FOW. The next fish came at 4:10 about 15' off the boat , hooked her , nice tall walk, unfortunately strait towards me putting slack in the the line and she was gone(mid 40's nice fish ).About 5 or 6 cast later again about 15' off the bow another nice fish (mid 40's) takes a swipe and misses completely.Trying not to pressure the fish I moved on and gave her about 20 minutes and went back and sure enough she took another swipe and totally missed again. Had stuff to get to at home and had to call it a day before 6:00PM or I like to think I could have put at least one more in the boat by sundown. All of the fish I came in contact with were all holding pretty tight to the weeds , all 3 fish went for the 9" Prowler in the Perch pattern water temp was 67 and visibility was pretty good on the north end.
  25. Joe- I am headed up tomorrow (Wednesday) for the day, how is the water color on the north end?I am in a 1985 Ranger bass boat white/silver&charcoal casting jerkbaits if you see me give a wave, really enjoy meeting the people behind the posts.
