  1. And I just wanted to make the 1000 post of this thread and thank everyone who has contributed and learned from this thread. Information is key and its nice to now have a four year history and one of the biggest updated and informational threads in this forum. And of course a special thanks to the fish for without them we are not here lol.

Lets see what this weekend brings....

  2. The state park launch and the village docks are open. Water  is still very high but is fine for launching boats....docking is another issue...

This morning had a nice murk to the water. the few that went out early came back with full strings. Small standard fish for this time of year. But then the water turned clear by this afternoon and the fishing shut down. Unsettled weather for the weekend might bring the murk back. They did impose the 5mph ban in the bay until further notice.

  3. Its more of a temp/mud line thing for browns. Conditions are great right now, nice fish coming in, mid size with a few 12+. The problem is the water level, its extremely high and it looks like FH will join the surrounding areas and impose the no wake ban in the bay and within 500 ft of shore. They will have spotters watching the bay to enforce this because the water is slowly creeping up and will continue into june they say.

Its been 30 years since ive been able to put this boat in the back side of my camp. Ive got fish swimming right by my fireplace and once the carp start spawing they will most likely swim righ up to the fire lol...

  4. Lol Im looking for my white towel lol. I know its somewhere...Well I cant find it so im putting my replay of sugar ray leonard vs roberto duran Bout 2...you know.."no mas, no mas" lol..

Imo this is no big deal. I would be upset if DEC didnt do what they are doing because that would indicate they are throwing in the towel....Keep in mind they have done this before (adjust stocking levels) sometimes they have increased, sometimes they decrease.

This being a non natural fishery (salmonoid) it is the responsibility of everyone to ensure it continues into the future....

Example: I have seen a drastic increase in the last 5 years alone in "bait fishing". For every one (bait) you take out of the water, put it in a bag, salt it, oil it, process it only to put it back in the water with a toothpick thru it..all that to catch a fish that is dependent on that "bait"...you in fact are contributing to the reduction of alewife population...true dat!

I personally speak with the DEC boys several times a season. They constantly monitor our fish cleaning station and even dig in the barrels for heads....Do you know what their biggest battle is??? communication from Charter Captains who treat them like they are a 5 headed monster.  They try and avoid them because they think their business will be ruined by their findings.....(this is from conversations i have had with them concerning the entire region in general not one specific place)

I can only say this. I have fished on this lake for 50 years now. It started slow with little expectations and turned into a wonderful scenario we can all enjoy. Let DEC etc do what they gotta do, support them, give them your findings, be a little more conscious of what your doing....and everything will be fine..

  5. There right on the bottom between 125 and 200. I spent about an hour out there with a crows nest of rigger cable because the high speed motors bunch up the cable when bringing it up from fishing so far down lol and I had a row of kinks so I worked them out best I can and then sent it back. No releases today, slow for mostly everyone.....Im gonna hit it again tonight and see whats up. Hot out there today no waves but I think the full moon didnt help lol
