  1. I did the switcheroo last night with my head unit and probe. Family member has the same unit as mine(X4D). At first, the probe would not work correctly with his 'ducer and head unit. We thought the probe was bad, so we pulled it out of the water and took the batteries out of it and let it sit while we put down his probe and tried my head unit to test it. It worked, but the numbers were way off, so we did a factory default reset on the head unit. All was good after that, so we assumed the head unit was good. We decided to try my probe again with my head unit. IT WORKED! We all were totally blown away. My probe, his 'ducer and my head unit worked. We put his head unit back on just to test my probe to make sure it wasn't a fluke. That combo worked too. So, at this point I am looking hard at the 'ducer. Today, I am going to try and adjust the angle of my 'ducer back to parallel with the water surface. I tipped it up thinking the blowback was making the transmission spotty. FH told me the element in the 'ducer is built with 10 degrees into it to allow for blowback and to mount it flat. Why the probe would not work correctly(numbers were way off and some missing) at first is totally confusing, but we had it working after I pulled all the batteries and let it set for a while. IDK.

Not sure if any of this helps you(OP), but we are looking at the same problem it seems.

Great test and good way to trouble shoot the issue. Takes a lot of the what if’s out of the equation .

  2. Please share the easier way to wake it up. I was going to disconnect the jumper between the negative and positive then flash it. But just thinking about it makes me annoyed!

I’m with ya. So take the jumpers from a charged 12v and put on your dead one. Wait about a minute, the charger should then be putting a charge on it. Once it does take the jumpers off.

  3. Cody, I went with lithium as well. Ionics. Found out how to wake one up easily with the Noco if you need it. One issue I found for my cranking battery 135 amphr is it over charges from my kicker while trolling. Had to take my charging system off the 8hp. So I have 2 for electric trolling motor in 24v and my cranking battery doing everything else. Took out 140 lbs. crazy.

  4. No rivets in these boats. All welded.

I get water in mine also. I can almost for sure say it comes form the access handholes in the motor well. No water in my bilge unless I get some waves in there. Plug up the self bailing holes in the back and fill that up a bit. Wouldn’t go over the gas fill or the boot that the wires some through, but I bet it’s coming in there.

Ugg, with the welded could be a crack somewhere? Wouldn’t think splash well would get much from sitting stagnant at dock. Leaks you can’t locate suck no doubt.

  5. Loose rivet may be higher than what you were able to fill in the driveway but lower than your water line. I had a rivet that was in line with a bunk that didn’t leak on the trailer due to weight. Also could be a drain line. Cork all drains and live wells from outside and put in water. Might tell something different.

  6. just buy your spoons from galeforcetackle.com there spoons are awesome and there paint has been bullet proof. they have harnesses and small spoons for eyes and the larger spoons for salmon or eyes.

The site looks to be for just walleye. Do you have to special order salmon mags? The site doesn’t show them. Thanks.

  7. I'm still on the fence about getting the outboard autopilot. I know it will work with my HDS9 Gen3, but there is someone at the helm 99% of the time anyway. But it would come in handy when there's only two people on the boat.

I can tell you one of the best purchases I’ve made for fishing.

  8. I agree with the “not connecting” your release to the tail of the weight for reasons mentioned. May get away with it but I think you add to the swaying or veering off of the tracking. Do a test in your driveway. Connect a rod to the tail of the weight using a release. Tighten the line up. Then using a blacks or an inline release above the weight. Tighten the line up. See which one affects the direction. Which one would you prefer?
