Rollie, congratulations and great job this year, you sure put your time in and fished hard. Your rig and gear is top notch and you fish the finger lakes as good as anyone. Have you thought of joining the FLTA? Not sure I'd want to compete against you but it's a lot of fun out there.

Sorry we missed ya Les, the group of guys n gals that fish in the FLTA are skilled to say the least great folks and always fun. Canandaguia was really fun for us, any one of the finger lakes can take years to learn, I look forward to learning more about each lake we fish, gotta say that the trolling bite was tough Sunday but worth the trip. Thanks for all of your insight!

Canandaguia was great for us today even though we were only able to weigh in one small bow. I had a chance to pre fish this past week and found a active group of larger bows in the middle ( North end ish) on some large bait pods. Caught 4 bows that day with the biggest being just under 5 lbs All released.. Today we ended up landing 8 bows and losing two that were toads. The biggest we lost hit a pink FLT alpha alewife down 55' over 222' he jumped 3-4' out of the water twice and thrashed his head throwing the spoon back at me like to say nice try!! I'd estimate that fish at 9 plus pounds... The other we lost played like he wasn't hooked til he got to the net the flipped out and said goodbye! 4 lber or so. Also picked a nice 6lb Laker. Overall the screens showed a healthy amount of bait and tons of arcs. Canandaguia has always been tough for us but today it was a lot of fun, just need to learn how to land the Tasmanian fish devil!!

Browns usually go in early November during rut... But they are shallow, usually where thermo hits bottom, 40-60'

Bad deal breaking down! Nice job fishing and I like the reports!

Does anyone run quick fish I have a huge assortment of them
Sent from my XT1080 using [url="https://siteowners.tapatalk.com/byo/
Yup deadly run at the right speed but sometimes they just want a faster spoon or FF. Great combo running a Sutton and quick fish at 1.5 to 1.8 sog, just tough for me to slow down that much to catch a small Laker if they wanna bite I like to make em chase it...

South troll on the west side your going with the lake current. You can see it in the spring run off. The west side is usually clear and east side muddy. Speed up on the south troll .
Gotta say it's just the opposite, the current in Cayuga current runs North the fish have their face into the current and are much easier to catch headed on a North troll because they see it coming. You can disagree but every time out of T- falls the mud line runs North. And every creek also follows the same, inlet on south end outlet North. Once in a while you will find a strong west- east current but not typical. Wind will roll in cooler water but overall s to n..

Nice job getting out, any favorite colors on the flies or spoons?

Mike makes some of the highest quality flies at a great price. They catch fish on the finger lakes. My favorite is the UV extravaganza and the Bellis program. Keep your lead at least 24" should be about right this time off year.

Thanks Sean , and thanks Pap, was great meeting you we will be in touch. Season got here quickly, still fishing to be done!!

Tough fishing today!!! Good luck to you and all the FLTA captains!

I went out of Woodville today it is very low, my depth finder read 1.9' most of the way out,
careful guys.

Perch fry? There were clouds just like that on Keuka this weekend in shallow and they say there aren't many alewifes left there..

Awesome job Cayuga has been on fire this year!

IMO the best clover is Giant white Ladino, when planted in later July mix with bin oats they usually germinate better than seed oats. Lime, lime Lime, don't expect results right away it takes time for the soil to absorb.

Sturgeon like to hang out that deep, they are getting ready to feast on Laker eggs. I can't wait til NY says we can fish for these goliaths The stocked fish are now over 20 years old and they spawned this past spring so hopefully there will be a fishable population, catch n release... Maybe part of the great Cayuga fishing is because of these fish being in the ecosystem..

You can catch fish at any depth but the bait is super deep 250' or so. Big browns lurk in the middle and salmon are there and hungry too. Lakers are usually down 120-150 but they also will bite.

Think of all the filet work you didn't have to do. That's a great report with great photos, thanks Les.

I like fishing in the dead of winter out of T- falls not a soul around

Very nice, thanks for the report

Welcome Toad Hunter, I like the handle. We all lose fish. Somedays we drop a bunch some days none, think it has to do with how aggressive and deep they take the lure. Caught a laker this past weekend that surged side to side felt like a really nice brown or bow just a 5 lber I call em fighting fives.. This kind of fishing is seriously addictive, great group of people on here, welcome!

Year of boat? Pictures? Price separately?

Congrats on a strong finish!!!!Good job to Russ and his crew on the win. And I'm hoping to be In town for keuka I enjoy that lake! I heard it was a all spoon bite yesterday, sounded like it was tossed right in your wheel house. Way to capitalize
The fish we caught were FF fish and spoon fed.. I'd say 50/50 The fish were all over the screen top to bottom. That probably is why Jason's rig worked so well..

We had a chance to stay on Owasco for our 16th anniversary. My wife has really gotten into catching these fish with me, she is a keeper!! Pre fished on Saturday and we really liked the east shore mid lake and decided to fish there on Sunday. We boated 15 lake trout, 6 rainbows and 1 brown. Unfortunately the silver fish were mostly shorts with only one keeper bow. We had so much fun and a great weekend even though we took 8th place. Congratulations to Russ, Jason and Mike for the top three finishers. Jason that laker was a pig and I give you tons of credit for doing it your way! Mike thanks again your flies worked like a charm and we couldn't keep the lakers off.
The last two events should be interesting seeing that the top spots are so close. Stay Tuned!!
