  1. I can help as well. I have been doing taxidermy for over 30 years. My focus is in deer and fish mounts and I am in Rochester. PM me or give me a call 585 278-0104.
  2. Obviously dominic has never fished Lake O. It does not matter if it is windy or not. Those little buggers are there and you can not get rid of them.
  3. Took my nephew for his first time. As my boat is down we fished with my buddy. Started right out of the chute. Marked a lot of fish. Ran rigger with spoons, dipsy with glow fly, lead core with orange and chartreuse crank. No hits for awhile. After about an hour decided to change up, as my nephew was bringing to sea sick waddler, bam, fish hits. 10# lb. Brown, officially weighed by DEC. I think he is hooked. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. What are e-chips. And how do they work.
  5. I use a Garmin HC Legend. Works great for what you are doing. You can get a Lakes map to download, but it is not necessary. I use it for hunting as well. I did install Mapsource for the terrain detail. Good luck.
  6. I was wondering when it is safe to run a boat with and I/O motor. I was told that it is too cold right now and I might have an issue with freeze up. I have seen some boats out and was wondering whether or not it is safe to launch. I have a 260 Mercruiser. Thanks.
  7. Thanks everyone for the great feed back. I think I will fillet one without her knowledge and make it like I do the store bought ones, I am sure that she won't know the difference. See you on the water.
  8. My wife is old school and believes that the fish in lake O are all contaminated with mercury. I am of the opinion that that is no longer an issue. Your thoughts.
  9. Ivan, not for nothing but the National Weather Service had a "Small Craft Advisory" Posted for the 28th through 6am on the 29th. And if I am not mistaken, a 17' boat would fall under that category. Maybe you and every other guy out there that has these small boats should heed these warnings so as to not put themselves, but more importantly, other captains, or the coast guard into unnecessary situations.
  10. I fish out of Braddock Bay, last weekend I was finding most of the fish in 70 - 80 FOW. Didn't seem to want anything but flies. 6 hits 2 in the boat. 20+ king, 8 lb steelie. Speed control was crucial 2.5 tops.
  11. there are plenty of fish in much closer. Why do you want to fish way out there?
  12. What does it mean when you are talking about fishing a specific line i.e. 29N? [ Post made via Android ]
  13. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/22/2012 Time on Water:6am - 8am Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:WSW Waves: 2 - 3 Surface Temp:73.4 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: Young King Hot Lure: Green and Blue Fly behind Spin Doctor Trolling Speed: 2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 120 - 140 Lure Depth: 40 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ========== Got on the Water around 6 am headed NE. Found 130 FOW saw some boats out further. I only use Dipsies. I am just starting out. Anyway trolled from 130FOW down to 140. Saw some bait with fish on it, but not expierienced enough yet to read the Depth Find correctly. Thought I was deep enough, don't know, nothing hit. About 7:45 started to troll toward home. In 120FOW fly down to about 40 Ft. (120 Ft. of wire out) the reel started to click, I turned to see the rod jerking. Pulled the rubber band off and started fighting. The fish took out about another 100ft of wire before I finally turned it. Nice youg King 13lbs. Lots of firsts that day. First First in my new boat, first fish on a Fly and a dipsy, first King trolling. I think I'm hooked. Thanks to all for the info you put out here. It is very helpful. Also like to thank Mike at Gander Mountain for helping get me set up. Good fishing. ==========
  14. Thanks to all of you. This is my first year and I am trying to absorb as much info as I can. I can't wait to hit my first fish. [ Post made via Android ]
  15. I've been told that to insure that my counter is right that I need to fill the spool and with the wire it would only fill about 2/3ds. I am using an accudepth 47c that will hold about 1440 feet of line. [ Post made via Android ]
  16. What knot should I use to attach my wire to my 30lb. mono backing?
