  1. Sorry, forgot to mention. Started at Maxwell, trolled through the boats traffic and then decided to just get away from the boats. Ended up about 2 miles west of Maxwell. All hits on stickbaits after we got away from the pack.
  2. I promised I would post more this year because I always get a lot of good information from the site. I typically fish 30-40 trips a year. I am a teacher, so my summer months are pretty much spent on the boat with my son and daughter during the week. I fished from 8:30 - 12 today for Browns. Spent the first 2 hours looking inside for good water or temps inside. Water was REALLY clear and I couldnt find anything. Moved out to 20 FOW and ended up picking up 3 in the last hour and a half. 2 were typical, one in the middle of those was a big boy and we wanted to release it. Couldnt get my scale to work, so measured it at 33.5 inches. Got it on Video! Made 6 runs, thought it might be a king! Son did awesome job of brining it in. Ill post the video if I can figure out my editing software.
  3. Went out for the shakedown trip. Got the lines down at 9:30 - pulled them at 11:45. Went 1 for 3. Just east of Maxwell was a small mudline, got one hit just outside of it. Few boats were working that area so kept going and found a nice bit of water just past maxwell. Temp was up 2 degrees and some color. Had 2 hits, landed one...tried it a few more times and blanked. Lot of boat traffic...going to try again tomorrow. Getting out early, going for a few more hours. Heard some did well, some no so much. Had to work for them, but love the season starting!
  4. 2 weeks ago i did some browns late morning fishing 30fow...near bottom. 4 fish in about 2 hours. Not hot and heavy...bit browns were there. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Im actually just in a learning phase with them...and keep finding them...feel like I'm doing something right. My guess is they will be in shallow for a good while. Im going to keep targeting the next 4 or 5 weekends weather permits. pm me if you are heading out. I just used a late spring program and found them today. Round 10...the sun got really bright and they moved. Something i need to work on is staying on them. Im usually spending a few hours for kings...then going for browns in the last few hours of my trip...im limited to 4 or 5 hour trips ...i fish with my son who is 11...dont want to over do it. 6. Were you marking any? I only saw a few marks about 60 fow down deep. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Blue uv tux spoon got 3. It was 100 copper...150 copper and 2 rigger shots 25 and 30 down. All decent size. 6 to 9 pounds. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Fished this morning. Started in 20 fow and worked out to 80. Tried plugs and flashers to get a salmon to go with no luck. Fished 7 to about 9...didnt see much either so moved to a brown trout program. Hit 4 from 9 to 10 20 to 30 down over 40 fow. Pulled lines at 11. Water is ice cold...49 on surface...42 down 30 feet. 9. If you just want to move some rods go for browns. You dont need to make a long run and the bite has been pretty good. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  11. Nick, You guys do an awesome job setting this whole event up. I am glad to be a part of it. Just like "bout time", I really had to let this event this year sink in. The vet I took out last year was supposed to come up the weekend earlier to come out with me becaues he wouldnt be able to make the salmon slam. I told him that anytime he wants to come up, I would be honored to take him out. I was up at the lake for three days working out different issues with my boat to get him out, and last minute had to cancel the trip, and honestly was even wondering if I could get the boat running for the salmon slam. A few days later, John found a way to make it up for the official slam and that same day I finally worked out the issues with my boat. I was phyched! I was planning to head out to 400+ FOW because I heard it was good and I fish there often this time of year. As we were heading out of the chute, it was looking good...NW to 400 feet...here we ...yeah. As the waves started to build I realized it would take about 2 hours to get out to where I wanted to be and the waves were supposed to build. We decided to troll with the waves in 200 fow and see what we could do. About 30 minutes in we hooked up with a nice 18 pound king. 30 minutes later we were hooked up again...but it broke off. We trolled another 30 minutes and I looked at my dad and said lets pick up and drive back through the waves and go through the line again. Once we went to throttle is when it hit me... WOW these waves got big! It felt like we were driving backwards! We set up about 45 minutes later and as I was putting the lines down I saw my rigger lines flying left and right, my dipsies were pulling drag and I heard Nick say he was heading in and I liked that plan. I played it safe, and a part of me wished I stayed out longer to get him on another fish or two. Tough call, I dont think there is a right decision. Let hope the fishing is just as good next year and with a little less waves!
  12. We were out in the afternoon. Wasted 2 hours in 120-160 chasing tons of bait and arcs with a small laker to show for it. Picked up and moved out to 275...picked up a mix of steelhead, king and lakers. No big kings yet...but good bite out deep if you can get out there before the weather hits. 13. We headed out this afternoon, fished from 230-7 and went 2 for 3. Fished between hughes and pville. All three the hour after the fog lifted, then died again. Small king and a laker. One we lost was probably a laker as well...definitely not a screamer. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I was out at the pier today looking around. The bay is completely covered, but the launch and chute are clear. I also saw a few boats launching out of bear creek. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Salmonchop...we were out for two hours this afternoon and boated 4. No real size...but good action. 130-150 down 90-100. Hope it helps. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Thanks again Nick for putting on a great tournament. It was a lot of fun and the vets seemed to have a great time. Keep it up...looking forward to next year already! Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Let me know if you need help with anything, setup, whatever. We will be there and in for big fish Friday as well. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I have to thank you nick! I was sitting at home bummed about the waves and when you posted that it flattened out I figured i would drive up and head out for a few hours. We fished from 1-4...not prime hours...but landed 2 kings and my father in law finally got his first screamer. Nice job you two on your LOC fish. 19. I may be against the grain here...but i would invest money in dipsy rods and copper or lead core rods. Get plenty of spoons, echips , spindoctors....flys...etc. just my opinion. ..but look for the fish on the depthfinder until you get rigged up. This is my first year with a temp probe and it is nice, but i think the other stuff is more helpful. When the lake sets up you can see the temp break on the fishfinder. 20. Horst play us in. First time for us...but seems like a lot of fun. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. You are not kidding! Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. I have been fishing those 40 foot marks for an hour at 150...nothing yet. Im running some stuff deep....right along bottom....ill let u know if it does anything. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I planned to go out at 3...but had to charge a dead battery, then got about half mile past lighthouse and saw a group with a dead battery...so towed then in. Got the lines down at 530...fished until 730. I was determined to catch those frigging things on the bottom from 120-150. Struck out there!...but dipsy took a shot and landed a 5 pound king...so i said screw the bottom and brought the riggers up and landed another small king and a nice steelhead. All spoons...200 dispy and rigger down 45. Surface temp was 65...50 feet down was 45. Good luck tomorrow! Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. 50 feet down over 250. We tried the riggers deep...just couldn't get anything to fire. Everything was in top 60 feet. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. We took out a friend and his two sons...11 and 13 years old. We headed out to 225 to start and stayed out from 225 to 300 all morning. We ended up boating 4( 2 steelhead 2 kings)...the kids struggled holding on and we lost 4 others right behind the boat, steelhead and one decent teens king. Also had 3 others drop off. No rhyme or reason to color pattern. All spoons, riggers copper dipsy all took shots. Only consistency we found was 50-52 surface temp. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
