So my boat is split between fishing and recreation. Two young kids and a wife. The islander I just bought does not have a swim platform on it at all. Thinking about having one installed or installing myslef. Just curious to know if anyone else has done this. Have not decided on full/partial or a simple swim ladder yet. I like the idea of having a small platform over the lower unit, especially to put the fish cooler on but think this is dangerous for using it as a swimplatform because it is directly over the lower unit. Any thoughts or ideas would be great. thanks

I just bought a 1 21' Islander and plan on fishing lake O next year and cant wait. luckily the Islander came pretty much ready to fish so that I nice. Have some modifications and updates that Iwill be making though. Couple questions, we are planning on haulingthe Islander with our RV and are looking for a decent RV accessable State Park to camp at and launch the islander out of. Would like to have a ramp right there..What park would be a decent try in the spring when the brown fishing is on?

Looking for a decent book on lake Ontario fishing, primarily trolling techniques, tips and strategies..One tht has all of the crazy lure/spoon names would be ideal!

I have read many posts regarding this boat. I am on my way to pick this boat up on Saturday! cant wait! I am not a great Lakes fisherman, mostly Adirondack Lakes, Great Sacandaga and Lake Champlain. The boat I am getting has the V6 in her. I would like to discuss trim tabs. Some posts say that they are a must, some do not mention them. I have never ridden in an islander yet, but have always wanted one. currently have a 17' open bow SeaNymph. For those of you who have put tabs on the 221 I/O, which did you get? I am leaning toward Bennetts. I have looked into the Smart Tabs, but do not think that they are versitly enough for what I want and need. Definatly less $ though.
