I have been looking at the helpful Westmarine online videos. still slightly confused.
I would like to have one starting batter just for the mercruiser 4.3L. then I would like to have one deep cell battery for the two electric riggers and all other electronics. I would like to have the ability to charge both batteries thru the engine at the same time but do not want my starter battery to power the riggers or another electronics. I have been looking at the different Blue Sea systems switches. anyone use these and if so which one did you install?
I have both and use both depending on conditions and how many I have fishing out of the boat. Problem with inline boards is that when you are by yourself, you have to unclip the board and fight the fish all by yourself. The inlines also cannot be let out as far as the mast system. I do not have a mast but have two planer board wheels mounted on the rails of my islander. works great
man this just sucks. maybe I will try remove it from the bracket, flip it upside down, and spray some WD-40 around the seal area. let it sit for awhile then try to remove it..
on my 1991 Islander 4.3L v6. trying to change my water/fuel separating filter. I cant seem to get it off! I know that I am trying to remove it in the correct direction. I loosened up one of the bolts that I thought my release some of the pressure? don't know if that is what it is for but some fuel started coming out. I tried removing the filter using a filter wrench even and it wouldn't budge. Am I not doing something correctly? I have heard that some will punch a hole through a filter and insert a screwdriver to help remove it..but, with this being fuel and I don't know if that is a good idea. also, if and when I do get the filter loosened up, should I expect fuel to come flowing out of it?
Correction it is a 1986. I just ran the serial numbers off of it. So it is a 1986 Merc 9.9. runs well, super clean under the hood, has a 3gal plastic tank and a new 6gal plastic tank and feed line with it. asking $400 for it. Thoughts?
that is kinda what I was thinking. I will probably just go with the depthmaster rod and reels for spring browns. already have 2 of them setup on lead line for walleyes. will get 2 more for mono. can always remove the lead off one..also have 2 decent spinning reel combs
What would you think something like this would be worth? I have an option of buying one for $400 that includes a 3 gallon tank and a new 6 gallon tank and feed line. It looks to be in nice shape
My islander came with the bracket still attached to the Mercruiser Alpha 1 drive. I need all of the remaining parts. Can I purchase them seperatly? I think that the part attached to my drive is permenent
Yes, actually there is a homemade SS 3 tube rod holder on both sides just aft of the planer board wheels on both sides so that is not it. I will contact the person I bought it from and find out.
On the top of the gunnel of my 1991 Islander there is a black tape that covers the top and over the side (inside). It is all cracked and pealing off. It looks like it was factory installed. I am thinking that this was for sure footing upon boarding. I would like to replace it. any advice as to a particular product to use?
Good guesses everyone. I bought the boat last sept and really do not know what it is. I do not think that it is for the planer boards because there are two planer board reels mounted on each side of the boat on the rails. They look like they have been there for awhile. for now, it will be my net holder I think as long as it doesn't interfere with the planer board reel line which is right in front of it.
