  1. my 1991 Islander's windshield wiper (electric) stalls out about half way through the sweep. The horn on the boat also will sound off one time then wont work again for awhile..Any thoughts? I have been looking in west marine for a new motor for the wiper, cant find one. the horn deal, no idea.
  2. Where does everyone get their spools of Big Game? I have looked at Bretts..seems like a fair price. I have 2 30 class reels for my riggers I want to fill with 30lb..I believe that I can put on about 300 yards each spool..then 8' flouro 18lb leader.
  3. so I can go ahead and use the 30lb mono and run 18lb flourocarbon leader
  4. I have been buying rods for DR setups and DD setups. I only plan on making it to lake O once in spring and once in Summer. Having said that, I really dont want to be respooling my reels all the time for one trip. so, is it ok to just run 30LB big game on DR rods and 12lb flouro leader for both seasons? also, does the line color of the Big Game make a difference?
  5. I am going to rig up my 2 DD setups..30 class okuma reels. I am going to fill them both with superline. What diameter superline should I look into. I understand the flea situiation and needing 30LB diameter, but I only am gonna hit lake O once in spring and once in Summer..
  6. WHAT ELSE DID YOU GET FOR TURNING ON AND OFF?
  7. Just checked them out. look good. Did you get strips? Curious as to which items you purchased..Any pics of your final product would be appreciated
  8. I have read it cover to cover twice now. IT is really helping me with my tackle purchases. everything from rod/reel combos all the way to terminal tackle
  9. Due to the ethanol in the gas. The ethanol absorbs or attracts water. Did you have a full tank of gas over the winter or half tank etc? Did you treat with an ethanol fuel treatment like StaBil or anything? Also, I have heard of issues with different fuel facilities (gas stations)..you may just have gotten some bad gas
  10. mrclean? are you just lucky to be born wealthy or do you work nights?? haha
  11. Looked at the Beckman net in Cabelas. THe $150 net only had a 4' handle. thinking I would need longer?
  12. Unfortunatly the stick steers do not work on an I/O
  13. How can I tell the difference between a Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 and Gen2? Mine is a 1991
  14. What size and where can you get one? Bass Pro? Cabelas?
  15. I have a 91 Islander 221v. need to get a decent net. what would you recommend...long handle is a must I would guess. size of net opening would be what?
  16. I have been looking at the helpful Westmarine online videos. still slightly confused. I would like to have one starting batter just for the mercruiser 4.3L. then I would like to have one deep cell battery for the two electric riggers and all other electronics. I would like to have the ability to charge both batteries thru the engine at the same time but do not want my starter battery to power the riggers or another electronics. I have been looking at the different Blue Sea systems switches. anyone use these and if so which one did you install?
  17. I have both and use both depending on conditions and how many I have fishing out of the boat. Problem with inline boards is that when you are by yourself, you have to unclip the board and fight the fish all by yourself. The inlines also cannot be let out as far as the mast system. I do not have a mast but have two planer board wheels mounted on the rails of my islander. works great

    Need Some help

man this just sucks. maybe I will try remove it from the bracket, flip it upside down, and spray some WD-40 around the seal area. let it sit for awhile then try to remove it..
  19. on my 1991 Islander 4.3L v6. trying to change my water/fuel separating filter. I cant seem to get it off! I know that I am trying to remove it in the correct direction. I loosened up one of the bolts that I thought my release some of the pressure? don't know if that is what it is for but some fuel started coming out. I tried removing the filter using a filter wrench even and it wouldn't budge. Am I not doing something correctly? I have heard that some will punch a hole through a filter and insert a screwdriver to help remove it..but, with this being fuel and I don't know if that is a good idea. also, if and when I do get the filter loosened up, should I expect fuel to come flowing out of it?
  20. Not bad. I bought a 1991 islander last year for $8000
