  1. Yup, I really lucked out on my 91
  2. this is the one to look at. http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/3851691667.html
  3. The bottom of the treble should not extend past the end of the fly skirt. i.e. when you lay it flat you shouldnt see the hook much. the beads are used between the hook and the top of the fly where your line goes through to keep the hook in place at the bottom of the skirt
  4. hannah, what did you put up front that was 200 lbs if I might ask?
  5. Perfect thanks! that is the same location as my existing Tite Lok is located on either side of the boat. I will just replace them with the single multilocks. I only plan on running a single dipsey off either side as it is.
  6. no, I am not going to get the HDI. I do not see the point of it for trolling. I am getting the base model with GPS
  7. Sounds good. My first package will be the June package! I guess is shipping now. Got an email from them yesterday looking for my mailing address. Guess I forgot to add that! Good customer service though! Looking forward to recieveing my fist of 3 shipments. Since I have nothing in the line of salmon tackle, anything is a good start!
  8. The islanders being a tin boat trailer easily. I trailer it with a 2001 durango V8. Launching is simple, being aluminum doesnt take much water to launch it. Super easy. I would much rather trailer a 22' aluminum boat over a 22' fiberglass one anyday!
  9. The Ford/Chevy debate. I am looking at the Elite 7 myself. I like the way it has a simple operation and the larger screen etc.
  10. Thanks for the feedback! that is what I will do! Are you using the standard big jons multi sets or the heavy duty?
  11. Would like to hear size of swivels for the following: sipseys - looking at 45# Sampo solid rings Clean Spoons/cranks? Dodger/flasher?
  12. I currently have 2 tite locks for dipseys that came on my islander. I want to replace them with a more rugged rod holder. I am not going to get the track system. I also want to basically replace now holder over the existing holes of the Tite Loks..They dont have to go into the same holes just want to cover them. Any thoughts as to Big Jon multi set rod holder? Would they be strong enough for the dipsey? I see they have heavy duty too. I havent heard if Berts come with bases or it is just a track system?
  13. Having a hard time finding 30# Fireline of 300 YD spool
  14. THis place is the place to get your stuff. I have made a few purchases from Bretts in the past month..Waiting on an order as we speak.I went with all okuma stuff, seems awesome!
  15. I bought a 1991 221V last year with the 4.3L V6 in her. I love it. Always wanted one and finally found it! I paid 8k for it..came with allot of rod holders, a full canopy, kicker plate etc..older electronics which I will upgrade. I got it out in Lake Erie. I basically watched craigslist. I will tell you one thing, they don't last long for sale once you do find out and there are not many out there for sale at least on craigslist. Here is a pic of mine taken last weekend.
  16. It is ok. You get allot of small 15-17" fish..once in awhile you get into some bigger females in the low to mid 20" inch range. The trout fishing rainbows and browns has picked up in recent years since they have been stocking them in there for awhile now
  17. Last September I purchased a 1991 221V Islander. Has the 4.3L V6, was decked out with custom SS rod holders, two BigJohn planer board reels, a homemade transom platform to hold downriggers, rods and the kickers gas tank, a heavy duty kicker bracket, full canvas and mooring cover for $8k. here is is in the water this past weekend. I wouldnt hesitate to look at an older boat as long as you know what you are looking for.
  18. I am spooling my rigs up with 30lb biggame and have 18lb and 12lb flourocarbon leader..that is my plan. if running dodgers, should I tie straight to the 30lb big game and skip the leader altogether?
  19. I have a tackle box full of walleye lures. I predominatly troll rapalas both stick and jointed. HAve those covered. Do not have any JPLugs and really not many spoons. the spoons I have a are predominatly casting spoons.
  20. ALL DEPENDS ON what you want to do with it. Grady's are a heavy boat that is for sure. I had friend who had just the 20' WA with a 150 V8 OB on it and it was adequate. If that beast were mine I would throw twin 300 Etecs on it
  21. Hey, why doesnt the best friend go fishin? waitin there on the dock!
  22. WHAT DO YOU RUN FOR A SWIVEL FOR THOSE SPIN DR'S? SAME SETUP AS A DODGER?
  23. Thanks. I have herd greens, reds (coho) yellow (lakers) and whites.. thanks for the tip on the size. What about the dipseys? Size wise?
