  1. calling all dogs

Now that deer season is over its predator hunting time again! I will be out friday night and saturday night for the first sets of the year. Im seeing plenty of sign so should be a good year for them. Has anyone been out calling at all yet this season?

  5. new sled for shanty

Anyone ever replace the sled on their shanty before? I have a 1 man clam and a 2 man otter and both have holes in all 4 corners of the sleds. Im looking to either patch the holes or replace just the sleds. Ive had them for 15 yrs so they are worn out from dragging. Any ideas are appreciated

Looks like this is the last weekend of ice fishing. Monday my fiancee and I will be scouting and knocking on doors. A week from tomorrow will begin hardcore hunting till the end of the season. 22-250 for me and 12 guage #4 buckshot for the Mrs Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. calling all dogs

my general rule of thumb and a calm night is 30 to 45 mins per set. Make sure the last call you always do before you get up is yote pup distress. If they are in the area they will usually come in running to that call. I dont have 2 set ups that are close to each other anymore. My spots all have miles in between them but on a calm night/day id move proabably half mile in open country and at least a couple hundred yrds. The most important thing is pay attention to the wind after all they are dogs that will smell you and if that happens you will never see them. Also do not over call that was the hardest thing for me to understand when i first started using electronic calls. Remember they are just calls not magic. Good luck hope this info helps!

  9. calling all dogs

Thanks Pap Sheila is a hardcore chick for sure. We did 2 nights of sets i think 6 total right after deer season but had no shots and only saw 1 set of eyes but looked like a fox. Hopefully next month we can seal the deal one 1 or 2 for her. I have a wicked light on my 22-250 and another for scanning. Love those lights! As far as $5k for a thermal I cant justify that even if i wanted to. I just dont have the properties to do it on anymore like i use to have. 15. Grouse thread

Wow awesome! My brothers and I grew up hunting grouse and rabbits without a dog in wayne county. There were a couple of small parcels of state land that held birds. They would always seem to jump up when we couldnt get a shot. Has to be a total different game with a good dog Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. First year browns

I agree i try running them all the time nut end uo switching them out. Challengers and rapalas are the stick baits that work best for me. Ezmeralda bay rat long shallow was a good producer for us though last year and even brought a 20 pound king to the boat in late april.
