Sorry lots of work ! Well, I got in to the stand at 345. On the way in I bumped 2 does . At 445 1 of the does came back in . It was a fawn doe. She hung out for awhile then I look behind me and see a basket 8 . He goes in the swamp for 10 min then ends up coming by my stand at 20 yards chasing her. Then I hear more noise where the 8pt came from and all I saw was rack in the thicket. Now the doe is 10 yards away and the 8pt 25. They are both froze and watch the big 8 come in . I know this Buck is bigger than the basket so decide to take him . He stops 20 yards broad side . Perfect lung shot he went 40 yards and fell over as I thought. That basket rack went looking for that deer 4 times before walking off. I have had tons of chasing and grunting action the past 4 days . Good luck to all and those who punched already. He is a 11 pt with the junk points but a good Buck! Got some funky growth at the base kinda cool. Time to duck hunt !!!

Been a pretty quiet season for me so far. Passed up a lot of little bucks and no real big boys on cameras. But seen this guy the 3rd day of season. And got him on camera. I've Seen him a few times and finally connected with him tonight! Also fingers crossed hopefully closing on a 100 acre property in perinton! next week as long as nothing crazy comes up!!

Just stuck a giant at 900. 40 yard shot, chest, 9 inch penetration, good blood the first 15 yards. After I shot he charged hard. Then believe I watched him walk away wagging his tail violently. I backed out now I’m going crazy. Any advice??

Quick question for you guys...Anybody ever get a ticket for parking on the side of the parkway?   I have a few spots I want to check out and parking off the parkway by the treeline would save time walking with the climber.

Need to do some raccoon control out here. 2 sits in this stand this yr and saw 2 different raccoons. One was darker on its back than the other. Now i know why my Turkey population has gone downhill in the last 10yrs. Use to be a flock of 60 to 70 birds now its down to under 30.

Are you guys seeing a lot of scrapes?  Last year there were a ton where we hunted, but so far i am not seeing any.  Lots of pictures of does but no bucks. 

Drove to my property this morning sat in my truck contemplating if i should hunt or not. Realizing how early in the season it is i chose to not go out. Back home i went.

Its finally cold but this pounding wind sucks. Hopefully they will be on their feet though. Wife told me to stop passing the does so i guess its time to finally shoot 1.

 lucked out early this year!  OCT 7th ,    i had 0 motivation to get out and sit on Sunday,i spent all day Saturday trying to get my nephew a youth hunt deer in the rain to no avail.  
 
Sunday evening i tinkered around the house until my wife insisted i get out of her hair. finally i convinced myself to just get in a tree and enjoy the relaxation.  i headed to the hardwoods with mostly red and white oak , the stand put the NE wind in my face.  i was txting with a buddy joking how it was a nice night to watch squirrels.we were both convinced this was night was a wash. at around 5:40 i hear crunching behind me (down wind)  !?!  i can see some legs in the brush and some horn but wasint convinced it was a shooter.  he was crunching acorns at 25yds but still didint get a great look at him with all the foliage.  then he finally took a few more steps towards me stuck his nose up in the air and started licking his lips .. i said oh S*IT he's on to me its now or never.. just as he started t do the turn and burn i snapped one off like i was shooting a recurve. and drilled him in the boiler room ,  he crashed hard got up and crashed again then it went silent.  it happened so fast my heart never even raced .. it was almost like did that really happen moment.

Bad news its 80 degrees, 5pm and im just getting settled into my stand. Good news finally the right wind for my number 1 early stand. Could be a good night

If you look on Amazon they have a ton of ozone machines for $50....I bought a $20 bone view mobile one and tossed it a rubber made tote with socks I wore all day. 30 mins later I opened it up and the socks has no smell.

Dave, to answer your question, run them through an ozone shower for 10 mins and you will be good to go .

I have a question but im not sure its for this thread so if its not just erase it please. How does everyone approach keeping your base layer clothing scent free? Multiple pairs of everything? Was daily? Always hang putside during hunting season?
