Got the warning the inside was warm so instead of braddocks as usual I decided on Bald Eagle. 6am I set up in 300fow on a North troll and never turned for 4hrs. Ended up 12/16 with a mix of Matures (6.), big steelhead (4), and skips(2) stopping when I reached 530fow
400-500 was my best . Basically find bait and grind it out. Every pod I went over i fished twice . Riggers 60-90, divers 180-250, and 300 coppers were the setups. As I wrapped up I motored back into 250 and reset up for my last hr. Another mature on wire out 275 and that was a wrap. It was so bumpy I even wore my life jacket. Should have some nice GoPro footage to upload on Facebook , when they let me out out of Facebook jail[emoji51].
I had friends do great in 170-250 as well.

I just talked to a buddy that is out right now and it was 74 degrees on the bottom in 105'...…...100' down over 200'.
That’s how we like it, I’ll be out in morning

I’ll take that little chop every time. It’s the true 4’ where I get annoyed.

Saturday morning is small craft and subsiding , so I’ll pass on that.
Sunday going to be nice with winds out of the south

I have the Lowrance Outboard autopilot and love it. Goes directly though an HDS unit.

I’ll be out Saturday if the lake lets me🤞, may be bumpy. As funny as it sounds i’v had friends take 20+ lb King from as low as 25 fow (looking for browns) last week with the cold water being in so tight. Saturday I’ll be in tight till usually 9am and then offshore for rest of trip.

I had horrible luck with cold waters. Bought 4 when they came out and the drags were junk. About a yr later I heard of a recall so I contacted okuma. I gave him my serial numbers and he said they weren’t in the recall. So I said your telling me these horrific reels are working as you expected?..... basically yup. Ditched them all for Saltist.

Been solid for weeks inside of the can. Can’t imagine not starting in 80ish to start looking, let bait/temp decide next move.
The offshore should be solid also if the inside dies .
Good luck if you head out, im shooting for Saturday

We use 20 lb for all leader without issue. But we do use snubbers.

I guess I don’t see the need for 20lb fluoro when running FF and meat rigs that are tied with 50lb fluoro or heavy mono. Seems like an unnecessary risk

No snubbers..... I use 20lb fluoro for cheaters and when leadering down on rigger rods. 30 lb big game for FF and 40lb for diver with meat rigs .
I dont think the leader to a dipsy needs to be stealthy. You need the stretch of the mono with the wire setups.

East winds for me usually means a better spoon bite than FF or meat. I’d have spoons on riggers /cheated, leadcore with spoons and dipsy with FF to mix it up . With all the cold water that was inside an South east wind will only hold it there. At first light I’d be dropping in at 70ish and watching screen sliding out while setting gear. Good luck out there, i’v had some of my best days on a feared East wind

Bustersit my phones always on if I can help. Glad you guys grabbed a nice fish. I’ll hopefully be out for an afternoon trip this weekend . Keep your streak going [emoji869]
If you ever have a long trip try those deep runs they can produce plenty. It’s fun to run Offshore midday and explore around, then I usually pull and run in tight for the last 2 hrs ......
I may be out solo this weekend if your available

Non meat rig I came up with last year that is about all I use lately . It's pretty simple .
Have not put a fly down this year behind a flasher . It has only let me down twice this year but nothing works all the time .
First light though it has been automatic .
I am still trying to perfect it . But it works great .And I have confidence in it . Which I everything .
Gotta love a confident rig[emoji869]

You are on fire!
Thanks, it’s been a good season this yr. Good fishing is 25%skill 25%equipment50%good intel. If guys keep posting everyone can get in on the action. I also recommend everyone get into your local tournaments . There’s no better way to learn than to compete. There’s piles of local tournaments that are cheap. You’ll meet top notch anglers and learn a ton as to what was working under given conditions.......
