  1. I sent mine in a few weeks ago and Ian already sent them back along with 2014 books which I will begin filling out this week when I hit the ice. Looking forward to reading the summary results this spring. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I saw it at Gander Mountain today Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Jerktroller you are right I stand corrected. Otisco does receive 2,500 browns annually from the county.
  4. Excellent posts and very informative. Food for thought.... There are 11 finger lakes! 1)How many have a walleye fisheries? 2)How many have a salmonoid fisheries? Answer's 1) Four (soon to be 3) hold walleyes. 2) All eleven have a salmonoid fisheries.
  5. Hey Les, using a cam is exactly what I have planned for finding the walleye this year... I have a hummingbird ICE 35 and the father in law has a camera so hopefully I can find them.. Then the hard part of getting them to hit begins but it doesnt matter what I use if Im not fishing where the fish are... Brent
  6. I saw the pictures they were nice fish.. Yea thats the downside of fishing away from the damn, alot of days with no fish which unless you have a way to keep your minnows alive gets expensive as well.
  7. Tim I couldnt of explained it any better. I personally stay away from the damn cause I hate a crowd but if your bringing kids and want to catch fish you will want to fish there. I usually fish off the marina at the causeway which consists of alot of down time with the occasional tiger musky. I do know they caught one big walley there last year but that was it. Tim lets plan on getting together this winter and figuring out how/if we can catch those walleyes. Brent
  8. Justin congrats on the doe I too am in full bow hunting mode and fighting a bad cold. I have passed on 3 bucks so far hvnt had a good shot at a doe yet. I might try hitting Otisco from shore one night next week.
  9. At least you gave it a try I thought it might be good last night as well,,,, We did pull the boat yesterday so I am done unless I get an itch and go fish off shore from time to time which can be very productive...
  10. No, I want to get it mounted I was just saying I know a couple of guys who enjoy eating them..
  11. Sorry I am just getting in on this conversation but I must say I like what I am hearing.... I know John Linder who owns the marina I would be willing to speak to him about putting up a sign. 2 other locations that would be beneficial is the Moondance and the Amber Inn. Both attract anglers. I think Justin is on to something that the minimum 36 lenght isnt enough but man you should of heard the whining at the DEC informational meeting last winter so whether they increase the minimum again wlill be interesting to see. Just to be upfront and I know you may not want to hear this but I am sticking with keeping my first 45" fish with no apologies..... I dont know if you have ever eaten a Nor Lunge but they are prettty damn good some people like them better than walleye...
  12. I fished until 12:00 last night notta, nothing, zip. Water was pretty flat and the moon was full and bright not sure if that had anything to do with it but didnt hear much crashing either.
  13. I have never hunted for yotes through calling however I use to get into calling greyfox at night the most I ever shot was 12 in one night and that missed another 5. I have killed yotes just not through calling for them. Ok I just put some bacon wraped meatballs on the smoker and then its off for my last night of walleye fishing on Otisco we are pulling the boat tomorrow... Wish me luck!!
  14. Great job Tim. I am going to try and get out tonite. Are you planning on going?
  15. I only live a quarter mile from the lake and can be to the boat at the south end of the lake in 5min. I havent been fishing in a few days because of work commitments and working on the snowmobile clubs groomer last night. I prob wont get out again until Thursday or Friday at the earliest hopefully I would like to see the water temps drop to the mid-low 50's. But bowhunting is now going to start taking up most of my free time so my day's chasing the eyes are going to be few until the water freezes...
  16. Msurfnturf you are right. Pro-fish-n-c those eyes were prob rite under your feet if you were where I think you were I have to bring the boat to shore to unsnag my lure a few times a nite.
  17. I would say that's a pretty good reason not to eat them.
  18. I would like to see the water temp in the low to mid 50's. I do fish the pond side alot but more for crappie and silver bass I did catch my persoanl biggest Nor Lunge on the pond side. I wonder if the eyes go to the other end of the pond or just stay around the causeway... I am still at least a week a way from starting to bow hunt espcially with the full moon this week so I will periodically get out on the lake to see if I can get lucky.. I dont know much about the susquehanna eyes are they full of toxins? I know Steve Piatt from the Outdoor News fishes for them there and keeps em...
  19. Justin, I didn't even catch a SMB. I launch from the pond side maybe I should try that sometime I just have a hard time fishing it for eyes but they do catch some. It would be nice if the water got a little cooler as well. I'm prob taking the night off.
  20. Fished last night went all the way down to the restaurant and made my way back and didnt catch a thing. I think I saw Justin touring along the causeway I was gonna stop and chat but I was realy prepared for how cold it was and wanted to get to shore. I noticed the lights on the causeway were not working does, anyone know if this is part of the government shutdown....
  21. Your right Justin Otisco, is a great success and fishery and it is a little bit of both good effort on the DEC and luck. They even admitt that for whatever reason the tigers really took hold in Otisco while in other lakes they had stocked they did not have the same success. One thing I do want to comment on is that I know its hard to believe Justin when he say's Otisco is a hard lake and down right (at times) impossible to catch fish on especially when you are able to view the pictures of his catches(daily..lol) but he puts many many many hours out there to pull it off. I do not troll (yet) like he does so I personally put in about two hours of straight casting for every walleye I catch. The Tigers on the other hand are a mixed bag I have been out there and caught one after another but normally your going to put in a hour or so (at least) of casting to catch one. The bass on the other hand can be real fun especially in the spring and fall. I dont want to detour any one from fishing Otisco but dont be surprised if after a day of fishing your left (with no fish) scratching your head wondering how does he do it.
  22. Sk8man yea your right. I do have an age chart somewhere. But off the top of my head 6yrs old for a 22" walleye stuck in my head because I caught one last July with eggs still in her and sent email to the DEC and that's how old they said the fish was.
  23. Good questions PAP. I do know the reason they release the walley at such a young age is because when they switch the frey over to pelitized food they have a high mortality rate so instead they take their chances with releasing them. I think there is an age chart in the fishing guide lines I could wrong but know I saw one somewhere. I believe off the top of my head a 22" walleye is 6yrs old.
  24. Thanks Tim, I guess you have to have a microscope lol.
