  1. Can you use copper on planar boards? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Does anyone ever catch fish on spoons w dipsys anymore? It seems the only action I get on the divers is with flasher fly combos. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I'm curious why you would lengthen your lead on cheated spoons? What's the reason behind that? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Yes!! Lots of days where they catch all the fish.Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Even when I run ff on dipsys I only have a 2 or 3 ft leader from dipsy to the spin doc and a 20 inch leader to the fly. the whole rig ends up being about 6-7 ft. Makes netting fish a lot easier! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Yea but if that's not working try shorter! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Used to do a lot of walleye fishing on the big E and we always used long leads on them. 50 or 100 ft from the ball bc they were more spooky and there is less current to deal with. Until some old timer up here told us about short leads we had no idea. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Every day is different. Sometimes they like it close, sometimes they don't. I can tell you that I have caught both salmon and steelies as close as 2 ft from the ball. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. The currents down there are pretty nasty at times. Longer leads are affected by currents more. With spin docs I usually set 8-15 ft. Spoons 2-15 ft. Meat rigs I send back farther to get a nice slow roll. Salmon and steelies are actually attracted to all that commotion. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Definately doesn't hurt! Especially when the bait is scattered or up high. Plus you'll get into some good steelie action at times! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. I usually run 4 riggers and 2 dipsys with good success. The salmon and trout are actually attracted to your downrigger balls so no need to worry about spooking them. I always separate them depth wise bc of the ever changing conditions and temps on the lake. This will also help avoid tangles as well. Remember it is also hard to keep lines straight when it is rough out. --keep a tight line-- Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Try matt. Nice guy with a couple houses which are really convienient. Full kitchen grill extra freezers for fish + ice. 7167789364. I think he calls it ontarioshores rentals. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Sorry wrong quote ^Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Isn't the loc a month long and lake wide? Seems more significant than a week and 5 boats. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Hey wes is the reason we caught our fish in the first place. I was only alarmed that someone else was having the same issue. Its not the money either, just the principle of it. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Well I've been waiting at least 2 weeks now. I called him and left my address and asked him to mail me a check. Awful suspicious that there are 2 of us. Always liked wes! Probably spent thousands in his store. I'll call back again soon and see what happens, if not I'll be back in the fall demanding my money! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Damn that's aggravating. What a scam! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Hey I am from Ohio and we just took the trout pot for close to 500. I've only been waiting a week for the cash but I hope that he's not scamming us! We spend plenty of money in his shop summer and fall. Did you ever get your cash? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Hey thanks for the info! About how many ft of backing do you use. I run the Magda 45s. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. I've used 30 lb flea flicker line for years and never have a problem. My dipsy rods will accumulate 3 or 4 feet of them but it doesn't seem to hurt bc its not at the lure and we still get bites on them Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Hey how do you back your dipsy rod with braid? What kind of knot do you tie to splice it?
  22. That's crazy. We nailed a nice 23 pounder in 220 fow down 80 on a glow spoon early. Shortly after lost another king at the boat on a slider in 250, along w a laker on a dipsy 250 back. Then we slid out past 300 and picked up a teen down 70 and a nice steelie on a dipsy flaser fly back 250. You headed out tommorrow at all? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Hey we are in the white trophy left behind you at the dock. We boated a 23 lb king this morning down 85 on a glow spoon in 220 fow. A couple at 70 down. Action slowed pushed out to 300 plus got a teen. We lost our probe. Is it really that cold down there? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
