  1. Heading out of hughs on Wednesday with my buddies 14 yr old son. I would love to get him on some kings. Any suggestions on stating location or anything else would be great
  2. Would like some information on areas in front of or near hughes for lake trout
  3. Actually speed was more like 3 at the highest at the boat. Kinda crazy and a little hard to believe but a few times the probe rigger was only down 20ft and had a speed diff of 1mph slower. Slow for some. My buddy got 43 Lakers and placed one over 20 in loc. He always says when you just wanna catch fish go for Lakers they are easy to catch. I tried it for about an hour. I will try another day.
  4. Yes some days will just be harder fishing. Was set up 10 feet down with snap weights back 100 ft plus. Had riggers stacked between 15 and 40 feet down with the shallowest back 100 feet plus. And 2 dipsys down between 30 and 50 on average for the day. Speed was mostly 1.9 up to 2.4 at the highest. Things looked good. Was sure we would get a bunch of steel head at least which some claim to be easy to catch.

  6. My first trip with fish hawk. Seemed to work great. Started in about 220 today and had good temp at about 30 foot it was 50 degrees. Fished a mix of stingers with lots of green. Fished from ten feet below this to about 10 foot down. About 2 hours in and nothing dropped riggers to 110 for Lakers. Nothing there after an hour, now in 300 plus we came back up to the surface and fished the top 30 feet for Steelhead. Worked out over 300 and had great temp. Got a small steelhead that came off at the boat and then a small coho over 500 feet of water down 30. Lots of boats out that deep and Temps 55 on top and 47 down only 25. Still a frustrating day of fishing. Running good mix of spoons, and now have down temp and speed. Still didn't catch much. Doing everything correctly and still doing poorly. Not sure how much more money I can spend on gizmos and gadgets that are supposed to help me catch fish. It may be possible that I am just a really bad fisherman!
  7. Napali you said a half inch below the transom. Video said even with transom. YoU think it matters?
  8. Can't figure out how to put a pic on but it's just right of the lower unit close to the plug.
  9. Instructions say to mount as close to keel as possible. 2 sets of directions. I ended up placing it as close to the keel as possible. When I called fish hawk they couldnt get me a straight answer today. Want to use it tomorrow and any help/suggestions would be great. I will include a pic of where it is now.
  10. Wandering if there are any good areas in front of hughs or the general area that tend to hold Lakers? Maybe a drop off some abrupt change in the bottom.
  11. Maisie.....are you red and white boat? Just curious think i seen you going past my rental on knickerbocker
  12. Got it mostly installed and can't wait to get out Saturday and test it out. I was catching very few before and hope it makes a huge difference. I have also been fortunate enough to go with an awesome fisherman who has been teaching me tons. Won't be long before my catch average is much higher!!!
  13. Just got one at narbys! Now we will see what happens!!
  14. Wether to buy a fish hawk or not? They are a lot of money. I desperately want to put more fish in my boat. I have now had 2 charter boats tell me I really don't need it. I can't decide!

  16. If anyone needs an observer for upcoming tournaments please let me know
  17. and speeds I ran last time out were from 1.5 to 2 for the suttons and 2.5 to 2.8 for stingers
  18. Tons of great suggestions and actually have started getting friendly with a few guys where I launch so this will help. Some guys in my area (close to sodus bay) told me not to feel to bad if its slow now its slow for them as well and the fish will be moving into our area heavier soon. My lines and leaders are all 30 pound flea flicker with about a 20 foot leader of 15pound fc. I was off the boards first time I went out and fished over from 70 to 120 foot of water and my deepest bait was around 10 feet. Surface temps around 43 so I kept them near the surface. I ran spoons and stick baits, dont remember kind or color. This is where the notes will be handy. Was running from 100ft to 150ft back. Second time out was about an hour with all suttons spoons at depths between 10 and 20ft. Nothing so after an hour changed to all stingers for another hour before the wind blew me off at same depths. Fished over 60 to about 110, didnt mark anything.
  19. Silver Fox --That sounds awesome! Can we talk details? I run my own business and can be very flexible.
  20. Thank you to everyone again. This forum is really awesome. Its enjoyable being out there regardless of catch numbers (to a point) and like trying different things and sometimes have great days and get a little lucky. Those awesome days make the slower days easier to handle. Taking notes would be a great thing to do and I will start doing so. I have actually been meaning to do that. Through keeping track of what is working I will figure out that it really isnt really luck. One day in particular last summer was amazing had a die off of sawbellys and I ran nothing but suttons and couldnt keep the fish off, had doubles all day. Then out the next day and totally different conditions and didnt catch much. I will see if I can get some guys together for a charter.
  21. Final flight- thanks for info on trolling speed. And some of those spoons you have mentioned I have never heard of. I will have to look those up. So you say pick all the same spoons to start with and try different speeds. If nothing try different spoons or stick baits? Or how about starting with something like 3 nks and 3 stingers with different speeds and see what happens? As far as running depth, should i be using diver and riggers mostly now? Paul thanks for idea of charter and that would be awesome, just 650 is out of my range to spend.
  22. Out for the first time this season and no fish. Honestly I really suck at fishing and burn a lot of fuel. Don't have a down temp Guage so looking at surface Temps between 45 and 53 out of hughs marina I kept most of my lures close to the surface or with one barrel sinker. few fish i marked were between surface and 20 feet. Was running 6 lines of the boards and just have hooked something. When we came in I noticed most other boats had on divers. Do I need to be deeper? Also what speed to run. Tried from 2 to 3.
  23. Does anyone have success in the spring running a cheater on a shallow running rigger? My thought is that it will run too shallow and be to close to the boat although the prop wash may attract some browns.
