Was the only good day in the near future weather wise so took the Double D out solo for a shakedown and some fishing. It's nice when everything fires up runs great and no winter gremlins. Fishing was not bad either I ended up 9 for 9 all Browns with a couple nice chunks. Jr Thundersticks and Bomber off the boards and a RR spoon on rigger down 5'.Fished 10' of water shipbuilders to Hedges.

Headed down to Texas last week for a group hunt I put together with 24 hunters from all over the country and even one gentleman coming from Germany.
Great time plenty of hogs, good friends and food and drink. The ranch got 4" of rain the night before we arrived making muddy tough travel to get to hunting areas,we couldn't hunt half the spots we were supposed to but still managed to kill 48 hogs between the group.
I took two(missed another in the dark 1st morning) and also called in and killed a coyote. 444 Marlin and handloads did the dirty work for me

Love to buy it and put up a cabin and hunt it. Drive the liberal looney anti's nuts

The nuisance permits are a whole other issue. Deer actually don't cause much loss to the farmers at all but many have the" kill all the deer" mentality anyhow.
Reason corn remains standing into the season are, moisture content in the kernels still to high to harvest, fields to wet to harvest and just plain have a lot of fields to cut and it takes time.
-
ain't gonna happen
What's the benefit of having corn down?None to the farmer, none to the DEC and I really don't find it a benefit or detriment either way for hunting.I actually like when there is standing corn still up gun season
But I can respect your perspective

2. Harvesting corn prior to gun season. We have got to get the corn fields cut prior to the start of gun. Not sure how to give incentives to farmers.
Unrealistic, you wouldn't want someone telling you how to run your business, some years the corn isn't ready to come in yet
The DEC has no authority or bearing on a farmers crop or harvest time

Possible deer and bear hunting changes for 2016
Stop the doe only the 1st two weeks of archery season and late muzzleloader season
Absolutely no muzzleloader season in the middle of archery seasonGet a clue and realize the deer population is not burgeoning out of control and the herd size is healthAdopt a better way of calculating deer density and population, like actual aerial survey, questionnaire to every hunter etc. -
Here's a novel idea get a handle on the actual deer population. You are looking for a solution to a non existent problem, there are not too many deer.
-
I pray to God they don't allow that during archery season
No string,no limbs,It's an air rifle not a bow period

Rob summed things up,I can't say I had a bad season as I killed 6 deer but only 1 buck but it was a good one and #2 on my hit list.
Missed the opening day of gun season for the 1st time in my life due to an out of state wedding.I came back on day 2 of the season to find a trail cam picture of a big shooter standing 10 yds from my stand on opening day. I hunted every day of gun season from day 2 on and never saw a shooter buck. I spent over 50 days on stand when all was said and done.
The big guy who was #1 on my list was taken by a fellow on the neighboring property Kudos to him it was a stud especially for NY. Some that I was after made it through so hopefully next season I'll be glad they didn't make it in front me this year.
Merry Christmas to all thanks for making down time in the stand more enjoyable!

Phuck him he was supposed to me mine LOL
I'd of not know if I had not stopped to talk him and in talking find out he knows Matt French
Matt texted me the picture this morning when I talk to Matt I will get more details
I had him guesstimated at 160" from my trail cam pics

Sad day for me just found out the bordering land owner killed this giant of a deer I'd been after must have been Sunday after I stopped and talked to him. They didn't see him nor even know he was around. It was the last day of the gun season he had a 1/2 day to make it.Kind of sick to my stomach

Just checked my camera cards glad to see the buck that eluded me on this property made it through gun season

Starting to look forward to my Annual Tx hog hunt the beginning of March and the fishing end of March
I can't say it's been a bad season as I killed a great buck and 3 doe with my bow and 1 doe with the gun but this gun season has been the slowest I can remember for many years 45 minutes left in my season tic toc
