Went out for an hour this afternoon after some fall family activities. Caught a nice one on a release on my first ball drop. If it was only this easy more often. 6.5lbs 25.5”-26”. Why are there so many surface weeds, it’s almost impossible to troll right now? Shouldn’t the weeds be growing off the bottom in shallow water, not floating? On top of that the fleas are starting up. When I can keep my lines clean for a few minutes, Lakers are down 65-75 in up to 100 FOW. That said, resetting lines constantly and driving by myself is no fun. I haven’t tried much for silvers as it is difficult to get enough line back from the release confidently without weeds. I did pick up several large LL’s about a month ago and would like to get back after them. Any areas of the lake clear of weeds today, I need a new area to set up. I’ve fished out of deans cove 3 days in June and managed to catch lakers on anything thrown out on down riggers (spoons mostly) and anywhere from 15 to 80 feet down in 20-120 FOW. We fished both East and west shores with the best bite being off of aurora and points north of that. Only salmon came directly off the launch at deans in 110 FOW down 25’. Wish we had trolled south of deans on the west side but never got to it. I’m new to Cayuga as my place is on the west side of Seneca but the fishing on Seneca has been so bad it’s made me trailer to other lakes. Good luck! Please post what and how you do! Took my FIL out for an evening stroll on Seneca to relax after a long day of work...we caught and released this 5.2 lb salmon down 50 in 90 FOW...same recipe that's been working for me on Seneca since may. Nice to get out here and there.... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Saw you going south (usually your going north on my side). My daughter got a laker, 2 salmon, and another nice brown. On the water 6:00 to 8:30 so not too bad. I've been doing fine with 2 rigger (spoons) run about 10' off the bottom and stacked spoons on same riggers about 20' up from bottom setup. Under 100 FOW for most action but troll out to 120' and into about 55 FOW. 4" stingers for me but dodgers have worked I just don't like the fight. Work the bait pods at 60-80 FOW...reel stories is all over out there so follow his lead over mine!!! Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Manuals are plenty good for the weekend warrior (me included) and really simplify things. My only recommendation is getting the correct book size and mounting location for your boat. Among many I've used cannon, big Jon, and Penn are all fine...and I'm sure there are more. Been trolling for 35 years and have never had electrics on any of my boats. Manual is fine!!! Thx for reply, saw you out there my way around 7:15 or so. went out again midday and picked up 3 browns at 5lbs up 6lbs, nice fish. Tried to release them all but one stubbornly would not revive so we will eat tomorrow. I've never experienced being able to pick up browns this easy in late July. I'm using all 4" spoons as I gave up on the extra gear with all these fleas out there. I need some of that anti flea line I guess Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Lamprey, fleas, and surface weeds sure keep you busy n frustrated but at least the salmon are biting. There are still some high up but getting more on the deeper rods than last week. I'm fishing 40-70 with spoons. Orange yellow chartreuse and copper all seem fine though the ones with spots seem to be taking more fish. Took a 14" lamprey off an 19" fish last night. 70-140 FOW. 4 for 4 this morning, 2 hours on water. 3 lakers and a salmon. 2 lakers on dodger and squid (green). Salmon on a FLT clown spoon. Thx for all feedback I will report during or after weekend...our place is on Seneca near outlet so yes Cayuga is better but would require 3 more of not fishing work per fishing trip...so Seneca it is for me. It'll work, just needed that current thermo info...I'm hopeful for just 4-5 hours of fishing this weekend and would be happy to just get back in the ballpark with my gear. Piddled around Seneca in Dresden bay over last weekend. Started in 90 fow and worked in and out to 120 fow marking very little on screen. I moved in closer and found bait down 40' in the 50-70 fow range...no fish or releases but honestly I didn't put forth much effort...midday sun and very little time on water...hope to get out again soon between chores...any thoughts appreciated. Is the Bay Area not steep enough bottom? Thought I'd try the mouth of the outlet but maybe I need to be north.
