Not sure what kind of unit you have, but there is a new part on the market that replaces the spring that pics up the signal from the cable ( moors and depth raider units) . I remember going through all these same comments and criticisms back In 1995 when CT instituted this same law. They grandfathered anyone who had a boat registered for the previous 10 yrs (which I missed by 1 yr) I just sucked it up , paid 75.00 for the course then 50.00 for the certificate. I found the course, which was 1 night a week for 8 weeks, helpful and informative, but didn't' appreciate the fact that all this was forced upon me by the state. Nowadays, boating mostly on lake Ontario, when I see people doing stupid stuff, I just shake my head, and am thankful for the knowledge ! Sent from my XT907 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Well being from CT....the tax you to death state.... they saw this as another 50 bucks from everyone who owned a boat and 50 bucks from everyone who buys a boat in the future. Thanks for the info. I'm planning on doin some trolling with planers where I usually catch them in July. The temperature on the lake has been awfully warm but now seems to be in the upper sixties. Has anyone fished small mouth bass on the eastern basin of Lake Ontario in September/October? I have not fished in the fall for small mouth bass. Any advice how deep I should be fishing?
