  1. Looking to get a small meat grinder to make sausage. I will probably use it only once a year, to make a small amount. Any ideas what to get?. And what would be the minimum horsepower you guys would use.
  2. For sure starting to get fired up for 10/1..Now that the 90 degree heat is gone..Working outside in it does not lend itself well to thinking about hunting. Acorns galore at our southern tier camp also..Good luck to all..And please remember to tie in from the ground up,for those hunting in stands.
  3. Have used Tinks for years. Looking to expand my horizon. What do you fellas use/swear by, and how do you apply it.
  4. Traditions is an excellent shop, where the staff pays attention to detail. I purchased my current bow there, and have had work done in the past on my old bow. As far as targets go, good question. I have had a "black hole" target for 4 years. I usually start shooting heavy in August, and maybe 4 days a week. I rarely shoot "practice" broad head tips as my field points appear to fly just as well. I can no longer shoot the center as the arrow blows threw. That being said, the outter areas are still in good shape, and I should get a few more years out of it. I have used other targets with the same results. Broadheads or practice broadhead tips do a job on any target after time.
  5. Started shooting the Nocturnal lighted nocs. Picked up the green and red..Green seem to be brighter. Shooting in the woods may prove different. Any thoughts?
  6. Broke the bow out today to shoot. Little slow in hunting section lately so I thought I'd start something. Always shot fixed blades, but the outdoor channel and heavy ad campaign finally broke me down. Never could get my fixed blades to fly EXACTLY like my field tips. I picked up some Rage Hypodermic's and the practice head they give you fly's identical to my field tips..Gonna go for it.. Any others use these??
  7. Traditions archery all the way..They pay attention to detail, and are very helpful. Be advised, they get EXTREMLY busy so be patient. It will be worth your trip. 2199 East Henrietta rd (rt.15a)
  8. late july or early august for a week
  9. My travels will be taking me to E. Falmouth , Mass this summer (cape Cod). Can anyone recommend any fishing charters in that area or within an hours drive. Also what would we be fishing for. I am not familiar with the area at all. Or any other "fishing" type activity ideas are welcomed, ie: lobster boat tour, whale watch, etc, etc.
  10. I have a 582 now..powercord and transducer ports look identical..would my current cords work
  11. Thinking about buying this climber. I have the old school "Dicks" brand with the loop and pin assembly for attaching the cables. Whats the opinion on the way the Summitt cables lock in
  12. Going to give it a try this weekend in the southern tier. With the amount of snow in woods, and lack of any tracks (according to my camp neighbors). Can I still expect them to be out. I have an electronic call. First time out so Im kind of looking for advice..Thanks
  13. Huge kudos to the Honeoye fish and game club for a great kids event today. Each child was given a five gallon bucket and a rigged jigging pole at registration. After the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag (Kids joined in, totally cool),there was an informative and entertaining seminar given on basics of ice fishing. It was really great to see so many kids, both boys and girls with their parents in attendance. Then it was out to the ice to give it a try with over 150 pre drilled holes by the staff. I cant count how many times I heard parents say "we never did this before and wanted to see what it's all about). Makes me think back to 45 years ago when my dad took me ice fishing for the first time. We showed up with regular size poles and an axe to get through the ice. But I'm glad we went.
  14. My plan was to have the little guy attend the clinic, and from what I remember Fish around the south end area and maybe get some pickerel on tip-ups,,and a bit of jigging..Sound ok?
  15. SK8man,Thank you sir. Exactly the information I was looking for
  16. taking a friend and his 8 yr old to the kids clinic tomorrow on Honeoye..How are walking conditions due to snow issues. Have not fished there in several years

  21. Where do you guys like to take your venison for sausage, slim sticks , etc, etc. I have used Costanza's,Wilson beef and have been happy with both..Other suggestions?
  22. I forgot to ad, after speaking with the operator he said "hey buddy if it wasn't for us doing this you wouldn't have a place to hunt because of the money the state gets from timber sales" He then proceeded to tell me he lives in florida, and is just working for the contractor. I have the contractors name but don't feel its appropriate to post as he actually is in the boundaries of his contract with state. Nauti, thanks for the offer but like I said I have a camp right next to the land I hunt. I know this situation will pass, but for now, I gotta deal with it
  23. I own a camp in the southern tier. We have a small amount of land, and butt up to 1200 acres of state land, which is designated a "state forest" that we bow hunt. Over the years they have marked trees for harvest, and usually in the summer cut them down. I understand why this is necessary. Today while in our stands a giant machine makes its way through the forest and starts clear cutting pines within 50 yards from us. Luckily I had a piece of orange fabric with me and began to wave it so he would stop, and we could get down from our trees. Needless to say our hunt was ruined. I approached the operator to ask how long he would be working this part of the woods. He stated "as long as it takes, and probably during gun season". I know this is a state forest, but do you guys think they should be allowed to harvest during deer season?. I contacted state forestry in bath and was told they are under contract so they can work all they want. Just frustrated, thanks for reading.......And didn't NYS just start a huge campaign to promote hunting and fishing?
  24. Wow..thanks for the quick response,,keep em coming,, want all options available ..Would Bryce come to the boat to measure?
