  1. So it is basically like Garmins older TR1 Gold? It has it's own hydraulic pump or does it have to work with the boats main engine?
  2. Their website says it works with the Elite Ti/Ti2, HDS 3, Carbon, and live. It doesn't however say if it works for just a kicker. It says outboard cable steer and outboard Hydraulic steer. My kicker is neither. It is a tiller.
  3. I have a Lowrance Elite 9ti. I asked this question on here a while ago and never heard of an autopilot from lowrance. Is this just for a kicker. Is it as good as the Garmin? I ordered a brand new Garmin Reactor 40 but it won't ship for 2 months. Lets hear more about this lowrance model.
  4. I've read a lot about antennas but still don't see the difference in the prices. I'm probably going with a Shakespeare 5101 because it always comes up as rated #1 for $55 but I also see the 5226 xt (I think) is $150 and has good reviews too. How much better is the more expensive one? Clarity that much better? Distance? I'm racking up cash in this boat fast. If the $55 antenna is pretty much as good then I'll go with that. Is it like going from a St. Croix to a G Loomis (hardly noticable) or like going from an Ugly stik to a G loomis (VERY noticable)?
  5. I asked the garmin tech and he said that as long as it has nema 2000 it will be able to drive the AP to waypoints and follow a route that I have on the lowrance. It won't however be able to tell the AP to make u turns, s turns, Williamson turns, etc that are pre programmed onto the AP.
  6. Yep. That's pretty much it. Since I don't have garmin electronics I need the screen to operate all the options (s-turns, williamson turn, u-turn, etc.). It will communicate with my lowrance to go to different way points and follow different routes but that's about it.
  7. I have 3 dipsey rods and reels. All three rods are blue diamond 10' medium heavy. Two of the reels are cabelas depth master and 1 is an okuma magna 45. Allreels work good but I just want all my rods and reels to match so these are the three odd rods out. $180 for all three. Two are spooled with 20# power pro one with fireline.
  8. I have a lowrance elite 9 ti that is nmea 2000 compatible. I'm going to call and make sure myself. What does the screen they offer for an extra $300 do that the remote doesnt besides tell you what degree you're running at (270, 180, 280, 300, etc). I couldn't care less about that. I would like it to communicate with my lowrance so I can tell it to follow different tracks or head toward different waypoints.
  9. If could mix and match out of those lots I'd take a batch.
  10. Looks like I'm going to go with Garmin's new Reactor 40. I talked to them and they said they discontinued the TR1 Gold and that this is a simpler system with no hydraulics and takes about 15 minutes to install. About the same price. I like the features that the electric motor would have given me especially cruise control and anchor lock but I'm scared that it won't perform as well on rougher days. The anchor lock would have been nice to stop and spot check for perch without having to toss and retrieve your actual anchor but we 99% of the time fish for walleye so I'm thinking I should just stick to the Garmin.
  11. Now I'm seriously considering going with a Minnkota Terrova 112# 36v motor and if I have to use my kicker locked straight and just use the electric motor to steer. Most "calm" days I'm guessing we won't even need the kicker.
  12. Speed, Temp and graph? That's it? Probably anything that you can put a Navionics card in. I just purchased a Lowrance Elite 9ti from Cabelas. A Lowrance rep happened to be there. I was looking at the Hook series and he said that anything around 80' and over he didn't believe on the Hook. Something about processor speed/transducer/memory/blah blah blah. Anyways, if you don't care if the depth and "fish finder" is completely accurate in the "hundreds of feet deep" range then anything will work for what you are doing as long as it can read Navionics for an excellent map.
  13. That sounds about the best way. I'll look into that.
  14. Anybody have their electronics in some sort of "encloser". I was wanting to build something that kept my fish finder/GPS out of the sun and elements. It would be easier to read on sunny days too. Wondering what some of you guys have done. I was even thinking of getting the right size cooler and putting on its side and mounting the electronics right through the side. Something like this is what I saw another guy has. Looks like he mounted his inside the glove box of the boat.
  15. I forgot it comes with a Big Jon Planer mast.
  16. It actually is a very nice boat. I'm actually not sure we really "upgraded". Lol

    Sold / Closed 1969 Slickcraft

Older boat but handles lake Erie great. I believe it is 23' but may be 25'. Selling for friend. 350 engine. Runs great. Included is Rocket launcher (8 Rod if I remember correctly), fish finder, gps, Marine radio, 10 rod holders (3 vertical and 2 for horizontal for dipseys on each side), kicker motor mount and music radio. Everything works as it should. We caught a ton of walleye out of this girl but we upgraded this year so here's a great boat to take advantage of the amazing walleye action Erie is going to have for atleast the next 10 years with two phenomenal hatches in the last few years. Trailer included with electric brakes. $4000
  18. I read what you "lose" when your subscription runs out but I don't know exactly what a lot of it does. Again, I just bought a new unit that came with Navionics+ but have no experience with it. Will be using primarily for walleye, steelhead, and lakers on Lake erie in PA.
  19. Will I still have 1' increment contour lines and any contour map that I made myself?
  20. New to navionics. I just bought a Lowrance elite 9 ti with navionics plus included. You mean to tell me that it's going to cost me $100/year to use it? I'll probably only use it on lake Erie in pa and maybe lake o in ny (maybe).
  21. I understand. I had an 18' lund pro v with a Minnkota powerdrive autopilot. It would act all kinds of crazy in anything close to 3 footers. I then had a Four winns Quest 267 with a Raymarine autopilot that worked perfect in conditions up to about 5 footers (anything more and I wouldn't fish). Anyways, is the TR1 Gold going to work in 2-4 footers or go crazy on me? What other options are you guys using and liking?
  22. I just purchased a 21' Dixie walkaround that needed the engine replaced. Got a brand new 4.3 to take care of that and will have a Yamaha 4 stroke 9.9 kicker. I also just picked up a Lowrance Elite 9 ti from cabelas. I've been thinking of going with the Garmin TR1 gold for autopilot but is there other options now that I have the Lowrance? I don't want to have to hook the big motor to the kicker if I don't have to which is why I liked the TR1 but I've read that the TR1 can't keep up to waves over 1' according to some members on this site. I find that hard to believe out of a $2000 auto pilot.
