  1. Great advice ! Thanks Zach. I have been using 80lb for trolling, it seems to not hinder the action of the lures. I still get good action at the rod tip. Tight lines to you and Katia and another great season for you both !
  2. Thanks for the response Zach. I'm gonna give it a try. It seems (without researching) smaller in diameter than other Seaguar fluorocarbon of the same pound test and thus should be more flexible, which should give better action for the smaller baits use.
  3. Has anyone used Seaguar Abrazx 100% Fluorocarbon Musky and Pike Leader Line to make leaders ? Pros or Cons ? I bought some in 80lb. test to make new leaders .032" diameter. Wondering if anyone has used it.
  4. Maybe on a clear, full moon night went its hot out, but with water temps. not too warm, to over stress the fish. I always wanted to try it but never have.
  5. Yesterday while on the way back from Albany crossing the I-86 bridge, I saw a boat pulling planer boards and thought how nice it would be to be fishing vs. still trucking and thought maybe I was messed up on the dates of the muskie opener. I got back home and checked the date and didn't miss it. But have an option to run a load to Richmond on Saturday and took it
  6. Nice fish, awesome pics !!! Congratulations !!!
  7. Yes Adam I agree, I told them there is a few that don't like to wait for the musky season opener ( Witnessed this a year ago). And that I was told by a non-resident, buying a NY license for fishing Chautauqua was not necessary for the Chautauqua Sheriff don't check licenses, that they just drive around the lake and watch the no wake zones and this person said " I have yet to see a DEC Officer here" My NY license is a much better investment than my PA. license is !! I too was very glad to see the DEC at Chautauqua and thanked them for what they do and for being there. I said that they should be here more often, they said they will.
  8. NY DEC It was nice to see the DEC at Chautauqua today. I was checked while trolling and they did it without making me stop, which would not of been a big deal if they did. Very nice guys. After checking my license I suggested they check a boat I noticed net a very small musky and did not see it put back. They ask the description of the boat and occupants, to which it would not be hard to find by the occupants description. The DEC spent a very long time at their boat. After that I did not see them fishing again. When I docked at the launch to load my boat DEC returned and docked, I asked if my tip led to anything illegal ? They said multiple violations. DEC said a lot of out of state (Non-Resident) without NY Licenses were issued citations. Glad to see DEC on Chautauqua. They even had two Officers on Jet-Skis. They said they would be there more often.
  9. Then a nice lady wanted to check out my boat for cleanliness before launching a state survey she said, asked me if I clean it before putting in at the lake, I said that's what my two teenage girls are for, they like washing the boat when I get home.
  10. Yeah Zach hope you heal up fast too. I usually start out around 0400 and fish till noon, constantly watching the water temperature, not worth losing a fish for, for sure. In 75+ I water measure, no pics, close enough for me. The lake before noon has much less boat traffic anyhow. What also amazes me is the amount of people swimming in the algae bloom water. I use hand sanitizer each time my paws touch the water or handle a fish. When I see people swimming a dog I politely tell them of the hazards of it.
  11. Tuesday: Chautauqua started out at 76 degrees at 0500. Heavy fog set in till around 0800, (south end) by 1130 water temp. was 80 in 15 ft. Quit fishing then. By 1300 south end 82 degrees on way back in. Cancelled Wednesday trip, calling for fog. Visibility Tuesday in fog was at most 50 yards.
  12. That's ok Zach went down and fished the Potomac. Maybe its me, but Three Rivers didn't have much info. prior to the tourney on their website or facebook from what I saw. 69 sure had good posting of their tourney prior to
