  1. I'm sure I'll catch alot allot of crap for this and its almost definitely wrong but food for thought. Maybe gobies would be a positive thing for this lake. They took off quick in Cayuga and have yet to really do much harm to the trout fishery. I'm unsure what they have done if anything to panfish and bass. But maybe Kueka could actually benefit from having another type of bait fish in the system. As we've seen in Cayuga everything from perch to salmon and trout feed on them heavily. The small mouth love them too so it could probably benefit the bass fishermen As Well so that their pride and joy doesn't decline too. I'm sure this will bring up many mixed opinions as they are an invasive non native species but alewives weren't native either...

  2. Just my opinion I know I'm young and you guys have fished that lake way longer than I have.. I think the over population of the Lakers in that lake caused the bait decline and now they are on the decline. Hopefully it's just a cycle thing and the bait will eventually rise again

  3. Double bearded tom!

Wasn't planning to go out this morning but when I checked weather about 3am they were no longer calling for rain. So I got out of work at 7am and ran home to grab my gear and hit the woods. At my second set up had 2 longbeards going nuts and came in on a string. They hung up at 45 yards when my decoys started to til tip over in the wet soil but I managed to shoot what I actually thought was the smaller of the two and when I got up to him realised he was a double bears! 20lbs 12oz  5.5inch and 10inch beards and 1" spurrs! Can't wait to get his brother in a day or 2!

  4. Were there catchable numbers of sawbellies? Was there last Tuesday afternoon and there were some smaller schools in close but I didn't have a jigging rig. In that note there were enough that I put a mini spoon on a downrigger rod and was able to get one. Was thinking just before dark they probably get thicker

  5. Was throwing spoons off t falls this morning lake had patches of floating debris that I noticed but nothing large. However there were patches of good green color everywhere. It looked fishable would just have to watch out for the patches or be prepared to clean lures often

Kinda depends on the wind direction that day too. A stiff southwest wind and the ride with be bumpy from Sampson but not from Severne. If out of the north the opposite may be true:)

X2 Nail on the head here. I fish from a 14fter so I've gotta really be cautious of what launch I use and would prefer to just launch at Sampson and travel cross lake however living in a primarily West wind area find severne to suit my needs far easier most of the time

Fished Sat. long point to tin can. Wasted the first 3hours in the upper water table then went to the depths. Limited out on lakers in a hour & half. Down 110' over 120'- 140'. Best laker for the day was 31". They took spoons, d/f. Surface temp 38-39 deg.

Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

I hope by limited you meant 5 each! Just checking to make sure everyone knows limit went from 3 to 5 on Lakers and from 5 to 3 on rainbows in Browns on Cayuga and Owasco

  8. Could've been sculpins but looked like the gobies we consistently pull out of Cayuga Lakers and meat was bright orange like all other gobie eating lakers I've taken. Hard to tell when they are fairly digested though but definitely were not smelt or sawbellies

  9. What area are you from I personally troll from a small (14ft boat) on the finger lakes however I'm set up just like most of the bigger boats and would be glad to fill an open seat if you were willing to join, so you can pass the knowledge on to your 6 year old. By all means don't be afraid to still book a charter however most captains won't start using those deeper water tactics you want to learn until May. And we use them year around on the fingerlakes
