I fish mostly on Keuka Lake. I do not have riggers as of yet, so I use weights to troll with. I wanted to try my hand with lead this year. As of reels, I have two Penn GTi 320's. I can also pick up two Sealine Great Lakes 47 LC's for 42.00 delivered. These are in excellent condition. The lake is deep, so most likely I'll need a bunch of lead. So any preference on those two reels.
I have two boats that I leave out during the winter months. I usually take the tires off the trailers for the Winter, but this is getting old and so am I. The trailer tires set on concrete during this time. Other than moving South, does anyone use some type of spray on them for the Winter and if so, what would be the best brand.
I have the chance to buy two just about new, excellent condition Scotty 1091's with swivel base, dual rod holders, extendable from 36 - 60 inches and one foot risers for 400 dollars. Seems to be a decent price. These may be overkill for me but I think the price is right. Web site info states great for "Big Boats", so why not for a 16 foot Crestliner Fish Hawk? Most fishing is done on Keuka Lake and close shore on Ontario. Any thoughts. Just to mention, I am not in the market for electric.
Not sure about the unit, I have the chirp 7 and I just don't like my plus chip. Updates are mostly what other people load onto the site. Can't get the chip to stop reading in phathoms. Seems it was loaded that way. Will look for something else next season.
You are to use the thumb drive to update the card. There should be a slot on the side of the drive for the card. New, not registered cards of the + can go up to $150.00. New, but registered, are going for under $100.00 only because you can no longer get the free updates for a year. Going by when it was registered.
I would like to do it again without the bass tournament. More room to fish. Plus if I can get a cabin at the campground, it would make fishing easier. Waited an hour to get the boat out due to the weigh in. Staying there would let me fish late. 2 1/2 hour drive. Yep, I also like that hole in the wall to get to the lake.
Well, I did go to Otisco on Saturday and had some fun with a few tigers. Smaller size, but still fun. Trolled to the north end and that's where the fun started on crank baits. Picked up a few bass as well. Had to dodge the tourney boats. Ended with a late lunch at the Vista, pretty decent food.
So.....I was going to do Skaneateles this Saturday and drive to Otisco for Sunday while staying in Skany. Now I find out there is a boat show there this weekend, don't mind that, but worried about getting on the lake at the public launch with minimal parking. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
So one rod will have a worm harness on and the other a stick. Not sure on the contour of Otisco, but at Oneida, I like to use my 6'6" M/H's with 12lb. mono and a 000 dipsy diver.
Will need to look elsewhere to stay the night for Otisco, cabins are full. Maybe do Saturday at Skaneateles, spend the night and drive to Otisco for Sunday morning. Doesn't look like that far of a drive.
Bass and pike would be good fun. Trolling I will want to try , I have two 9 footers (ML) with 30lb braid and #0 dipsy divers with a whole bunch of spoons. Probably would stay at the north end, a few hotels available.
I have this card and loaded and reloaded it until I nearly tossed everything overboard. It shows contours in metric and/or fathoms. I spoke with Navionics and this is what they told me. I use this in my Elite 7 and no matter what I do, it is not a US measurement. I don't have time to be sitting there with a calculator trying to figure out how deep I am. So, with that said, I will most likely be looking for another chip.
If....you were to go fishing for the day (Saturday/Sunday) and not target anything in particular, which lake would you go to? Skaneateles or Otisco. As I mentioned, just going to float around or troll for a while with the wife. Found a place or two at Skaneateles to spend the night, nothing at Otisco, maybe the campground, would need to call. Fish for bass a lot at Keuka, walleye at Oneida and panfish everywhere else. Just looking for a change for the wife. Probably can't keep anything since hotels don't have cleaning stations and no camps on the water. Just your thoughts.
