Nice catch. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Another thing is the shallower you run your down Riggers the farther back you should run your lures. 30 ft down 60 feet back or more. 60 feet down I run 10 ft back for lakers. For salmon and browns I go 30 to 60 back. You have to give them what they want. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Blowback
Bassin Bob replied to Bassin Bob's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
So the shark worked very well today on cayuga. Took the grandkids. They each caught 4 lakers. 17 to 22 in. Lost a good landlocked at the boat. 5 year old rod skills need attention! Lol. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

I'm running 10 and 12 lb weights. Also 30 line and 2 rods on one rigger, one on the other. At 2.0 the blowback is alot. At 120 ft wow. I realize the 30 ld line is friction loss cable etc. Any suggestions. I'm tipping my transducers back to keep the weights on screen. But speed changes they disappear. You mark a fish but where are the weights? Help please. Running pancakes. 10 lb , cast iron 12s . Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Oswego water temps
Bassin Bob replied to littlemack's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I was out in 350. Marked 1 fish. No hits riggers only. Tried everything. I had 48°at 110 in 160 went farther 250, 45 at 120, 58 at 90. I think the temp lines are to close. Ran out of daylight. Oh well. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

If this helps, I use this rule of thumb on downriggers. The deeper I go the closer to the weight and shorter leader of 10 to 12 lb fluro. The higher up I go the farther back from the weights i.e. 60 down 15 back , 40 down 30 back 20 down 60 to 80 back and longer leader up to 20 feet. But! The fish dictate this most days. Some days the lure is 8 feet from the weight at 60 , 70, 80. Other days 20, 30. You have to see what they want not what you want. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Same, 30 lb blood line keep flees off. 10 ld fluo. Leader . Once September gets here I go back to 12 lb spinning rods. Flees gone by then. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

True. I was stating the incident. Fishing has no bearing on it. Had it been a boat with motor off facing east dead still. His actions were still stupid. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

OK I was the stand on craft as the big boat approached from my port side. I was engaged in fishing. I was going east, he was going south. I was engaged in fishing. He was the stand off craft as he came on my port side. Free to navigate. He had 3 miles of water behind me and decided to go in shore of me cutting me off quite intentionally . Had he swamped me as he could have easily at 30 yds or less. Had I survived, I'd have had his ass In court. His actions were dangerous, out of pure ignorance and flat out stupid. I was fishing near dead still at 1.8 mph. He knew exactly what he was doing. Showing off his stupidity. Next time I hope never but if I see him words will be spoken. I'm always weary of boats running with the bumpers still deployed. His were out. I should have kept an eye on him . Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
