  1. Dear Lucky 13. You mentioned "That some lakefront property owners enjoyed flood control benefits from the narrowed range of lake stage that obtained from the opening in 1959-60 until recently is lagniappe, a 'little extra', but was not the primary intended purpose of the project. Having a famiky cottage in the SLR for over 80 years I understand the the history of the shipping interest etc. However family homes, cottages and business were on the river long before the seaway opened up. So I feel that the incredible profits made with hydro and shipping since 1959-1960 should be shared. And "a little extra help" ? My friend we are most likely going to lose our cottage forever. I'm not blaming anyone. I just think some people need to understand the devistation this has brought to both Canada and the US. 6000 people in Montreal displaced. It's heartbreaking. Marina's jobs homes etc. For me personally It's hard to read your post. Like this is something so black and white. We have heard so many different interpretations of why we are at this point it's maddening. So let's cross our fingers for the best. Merry Christmas everyone. Can't wait to get the boat in the water. Tying leaders today 👍

  6. So I have all my gear organized in the basement. It's time to start prepping for 2020. I plan on tying many leaders because it's just time consuming on the boat. I have the flourocarbon leader line and small Barrell swivels and swivels. I run lead, copper, dipseys and down rigggers. Not including flasher/fly leader length which I found on you tube, Does anyone have standard leader length they pre tie that works well ? Thanks for any help. 12. I have a pair of Penn Squall 30 reels that I ran long lines off the back with lead and copper last year. I would like to run wire from these reels for my large dipseys. However these reels do not have a line counter. I have never run my dipseys without a line counting reel. Is this an issue? Are there ways/tricks to determine depth? Thanks Sent from my LM-G710VM using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. So I sent Cannon an email to make sure 200 ft of wire would suffice for a correct and accurate read with the Counter. Cannons response was yes. 200ft will give a true count and not a problem. Anything 200-400 ft it will read accurately was his response. I thought I'd pass this along. I never considered the counter aspect. Thanks again, Tim Sent from my LM-G710VM using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Awesome. Thanks for the info guys. Sent from my LM-G710VM using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. On the cannon website on YouTube they show a guy re spooling his downrigger wire with 400ft of wire. I purchased (2) 200 ft length of downrigger wire for each downrigger. Is 200 ft of wire for each downrigger enough? I fish here in lake Ontario only. Thanks for any direction here. Tim Sent from my LM-G710VM using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  18. I wanted to thank Jeremy and all the great people of the LOU. This was my third year back at it since I was a youngster. I learned so much. Mostly I learned to embrace, cherish and the respect hunt. Finding these fish was a challenge, but when we did, it was unreal. A couple thoughts....April, May and June were lights out. I did better early in the season especially for mature kings. Braddocks 80-120. July was a tad more challenging. Then August was deep deep water. I have never gone out that far before but after a couple trips I got used to it. I didn't troll much in front of the Genesee late season. Key take aways of 2019. East wind was not my friend. Buy a long extendable net. Cheaters are worth it. Meat was worth the learning curve and the price. Green/Black spoons were the chosen spoon for me. My copper tied to lead tied to a flrcrbn leader was my best long line. By far! Buds Divers are amazing. Thank you to all the great post and pics of the kids, families, and heartfelt stories that go beyond fishing. Time to start pulling the bow. 21. Went out 2pm to 7pm. Choppy again. 3 for 6. Nothing big. Green black spoons and meat. Started at 350 trolled with the waves. Sent from my LM-G710VM using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Went out yesterday. Very choppy. Temps of 47-50 were very deep. Took my dad. Went 1/3. Heading out today. With so many wind changes etc does anyone have any good tips or thoughts on where to go? I'll be on the water at 2pm. Looks like rain but I can deal with that. Thanks!
