Update since last post, switched the line to Amish Outfiters 500# Test Spectra two line and made a slight adjustment to the harness angle on the boards and problems solved! Clips slide nicely down the line now! Thanks again for the advice! [emoji2] Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Had great luck with the BJ Deeper Divers in chartreuse. Ran them off of 30lb Braide straight to the Diver and a 12# Fluoro leader around 7’ long. That set up took more shots than any of the other rigs on the boat for both browns and spring kings. In about 20 FOW, we ran them 40’ out on the line counter which gave us about a 15’ Dive. Worked fantastic especially in dirty water! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Going to give Slide Divers a try for salmon next weekend and need some advice as to how much lead length to use. Reels are spooled with 30# Braid and plan to splice in 30lb Mono in the recommended lead length advised and then a 7’ leader after the barrel swivel in 20# Fluoro for spoons. Thank You! Hi Guys, need some help with setting my lines on my Otter boards. Tried several different releases but all seem very sluggish getting them to slide easily down the tow line. The line reels and pulleys (Big Jon Manuals) are mounted on the top of my cockpit frame on my 21’ Walkaround and My Otters All have double keels and the angle of the board’s attachment line is tied per the recommended 9” font and 14” rear angle. I must be missing something. Any advice is greatly appreciated ! Thanks-Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I’m considering adding a Traxtech transom trolling bar across the back of my 21’ Hydrasports WA. I currently run two Cannon Digitroll 10’s mounted to tracks on both gunnels. Would like to add a 3rd DR to the spread and thinking the transom bar would be a less cluttered alternative. Boat is powered by a 150 HP outboard. Does anyone use such a system and what are the pros and cons? Thank you very much! -Mike https://www.walleyetacklestore.com/traxstech-removable-8-trolling-bar-with-two-4-1-2-reverse-risers-and-two-mt-6-end-caps-drbr-8-6/ Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I recently picked up and started using a Church Tackle Stern Planer and do exactly as you describe! It’s fantastic! I was just thinking about adding this Chute diver for another rod I the spread but, starting to think better of the idea! Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer, really appreciate all the advice! Mike

I have an extra 8’ Wire Diver rod that I’d like to consider running on the “0” setting of a Mag Diver straight down out the chute between my 2 (only) corner riggers. Safe/Effective to do or asking for trouble? Thanks! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Just ordered a 28”x51” hoop x 40” deep Beckman with a 6-9’ telescopic handle from Fish USA, $119 with shipping. Should give me about a 12’ reach. https://www.fishusa.com/product/Beckman-Standard-Net?utm_source=Order&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=OrderConfirmation Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Aside from the extra breaking strength of 45lb copper vs 27lb LC, Is there any advantage to running a short copper like a 150 as opposed to a segmented LC rig of comparable depth capability? Thanks Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thank you VERY much VooDoo! Will give this a try this weekend! Good Fishing! :-) Mike

Thanks for the reply VooDoo! Just so I’m clear you are subtracting 10% off of the Dipsy that is set on the 1 setting? For example, if you’re running your DD 250’ down on the 1 setting, you are running your Slider 225’ down to achieve a similar depth as the DD? And with the 30 to 50’ of 40lb Mono segment before the bead/Barrel swivel and leader, are you letting out Line only to the connection between the Braid and Mono then locking in the slider or can you let out line beyond the knot and lock onto the Braid? Thanks very much! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I’ve narrowed down my choice of a Chartplotter/sonar to the GARMIN GPSMap 942xs to be used solely for trolling for salmon on Lake Ontario. Looking for advice as to the best Chirp frequency range (Low, Medium, High) for this purpose. Thanks for any help! Mike

New (to me) boat last year, bought specifically to fish for Salmon on Lake Ontario. Boat came with a Garmin 740s Chartplotter/GPS/Sonar/Radar all in one unit. GPS, Chartplotter and Radar work great, fish finder capabilities, poor at best. Has a dual frequency transducer, 50/200. The 50 interferes with the Fish Hawk and on 200, can’t seem to mark much other than an occasional blip or spec. Long story short, I’m suffering from fishfinder envy when I see pics of everyone’s sonar with Big beautiful arches and streakers going up to the DR line (which I don’t mark either)! Willing to drop up to $1500 on a new unit. Would greatly appreciate advice as to recommendations on an up to date unit that shows me fish so I’m not surprised when I actually hook something? Every fish I’ve caught so far seems like a total accident because I never Mark anything! Also, one that does not interfere with the Fish Hawk! Would like something in a 9” screen or larger. Thank you very much and apologies for the long winded post! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

First year trolling for Browns and we’ve we’ve been having some luck in the shallower depths (5-15 FOW) running Flat Line Mono rods off of Planer boards with spoons and stick baits. What about when you start moving out deeper say, 20+ feet, are guys still running flat lines or are you now adding weight to your rods or perhaps using segmented leadcore rods? Thank you !
