There is quite a bit of foam in these boats so finding the hole may be tough. Make sure if you replace foam you do it with closed cell or something comparable. You may luck out and see where the "wettest" spots are and be able to isolate. Thankfully, mine is bone dry and short of taking some waves inside my bilge has never ran.

We shall see. I'll be sure to make it the first wet line this year. After browns, of course.

Planning a possible spring olcott browns trip

First King bite out of Olcott last year was may 5. That was last year though.... It's a new year and there's now ALOT of ice around -

It's basically biased videos (done by owner of torpedo) but there is a video of a test vs copper and at 200' they are at the same depth. Video lacks speed detail Also another video where owner of torpedo says 40' with 200, 60' with 200+200braid, and 80' with 200/200 19 strand. Also, no speed given. Alright. I'm going against the grain...into the waves, and doing the steel. Now to decide backer.... Prob just do a 2+300 with 50# braid as it will still allow deeper depth with more line out. I don't want anything more than 500 behind the boat anyways and I think it will be a great combo for early king's and walleyes when they go deep. I'm a rookie to the game so if this will allow me a different presentation and be easier to work with I think it's worth a shot. To me, it's got to dive at least 40 which is a good depth early and the 300 will/should go 60. If I can get a few feet more or less, both those depths have there moments in the season for both chrome and yellows. It's worth a shot. If it flops, we can all point to me to give my opinion as it's inevitable that there will be plenty more to ask this same question. What do you suppose everybody said when copper came out ? Maybe I can scoop up Michigan stinger from billy saiff AND torpedo for a sponsor after this season....lol. One can dream. Stay tuned.

Well. I still owe this thread some completed pics! Got some additional projects going on. New transom New main / new controls New graph Some bolsters / pads up front Access panel in the rear Access / panel up front Hoping to have all this done in the next couple weeks. Transom is already done and it was a good call on my part. It would have prob lasted a few more years but she would have never supported a 4 stroke. She is currently resting under cover and once I pull it out I'll be doing outdoor installs so I'm holding off till we get a decent break in weather.

So, to you seasoned guys that are set with coppers, what do you tell a rook that's looking to put a different presentation in the spread this season ? Stick with coppers or give the WS a try ?

Planning a possible spring olcott browns trip
NymphO replied to Ademarco's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Finding the good water is always the best Intel. But, typically out of Olcott I run east just past keg then troll west. In front of keg and the piers typically hold fish depending on what depth they are at. Too many variables to give you good direction, but if your launching out of Olcott there's a good chance you will have some action within a mile or so east or west. Stay active on here for reports but even those can change day to day.
