  1. I agree with fishnut to an extent. Yes, mouth calls are one off and unique for sure. They can be a pain to blow on for 45 min though ( typical coyote stand time for me ). The FoxPro has prob 40-50ish sounds I typically use and some situations call for it like the educated dogs scenarios. I also use "fox pitch" ALOT. This changes the tone of any call, a feature I doubt alot of guys use. Plus, your getting fox calls, yote calls and crow calls all in one push of a button and you don't feel winded after a long stand. Just my .02
  2. And to add, if you go FoxPro order it from them so that you can pick your 100 calls. No need for elk bugles or mountain lion and wolf crap
  3. Pap. I have the shockwave. Went through a bunch of calls prior, all FoxPro up the line. Hands down the shockwave is where it's at. The main seller is the remote. The tx1000 is only available on the fusion or the shockwave. Always a big arguement with guys on which unit is better though. Fusion is Def loud with less bulk but has a speaker facing each direction. Shockwave has the movable speakers which I change up for each stand. I also do crows, and the shockwave Def screams em in. No prob getting loud ! If you got the fusion you may have some minor regrets but if you can get over the bulk of the shockwave it's the way to go. As far as the alpha dog, my friend has one. I had him show me some common calls, yote vocals, pup distress, rabbit etc. I was not impressed at the sound quality as far as realism is concerned. I'm sure the primos will call in some fur, and some crows but I think FoxPro has the E-caller market cornered. You may save some money but you won't get anywhere near the unit compared to the FoxPro. I recommend you find somebody close to you with the unit your looking to buy and give it a test drive first. Just don't do what I did.... Had a spit fire, then went a step up, then another, then finally man'd up and got the shockwave.... Wallet was flat but I was finally satisfied with my caller.
  4. I did. Winner had a giant pile. I believe it was 13 fox and a yote. Other than that it was a light take. Those guys were from Broome county. They had a dusting of snow and was alot closer to zero. Made me jealous. Waist deep drifts and -20 for me. Show was good though. Plenty of crap given away.
  5. Hope so. Would make for an enjoyable rut hunting season. Hopefully some white stuff stays though
  6. U didn't miss much. Tough hunting. Was -19 after the last set of the night.
  7. Yes. Did a few sets this am-afternoon. Partner missed on a fox 2x..... No other fur seen
  8. Well, if it wasn't for the contest I'd have been on the couch with some hot cocoa. Lol
  9. Big calibers = big mess. But, bang flop !
  10. Hit a few sets last night. Wind was whipping but gotta be in it to win it... Successfully pissed off some cows, that's about it.
  11. Ditto. Finally starting to feel better and now gonna head out in this crap. Good luck and I'll see you Sunday ! Pap, I would definitely hold off on the weather but the slam only goes tonight-sun. Trust me, not looking forward to slow action cold hunts !!
  12. Anybody dumb enough to be doing the predator slam this weekend ? ( Besides me ?)
  13. Got my chart yesterday. Included at no charge was a real nice canvas cover and unit also had a tempered screen protector on it. Was pleased before, even more now !
  14. Sweet video and nice shootin !! Pap, I don't believe that's snow flying....lol. I think it was that was some fox "parts" flying.
  15. Ice calling sounds awesome ....
  16. I'm already in to a bunch of new crap I didn't need just cause it was a steal.... Deals are harder to find this year than last year though.
  17. Let's keep this thread off Andy and the state regs.... I'm sorry for bringing it up, thread is cool let's not ruin it ! Our ar's have the mag pinned, let me tell you how fun it is to open it up and top load, then to unload u have to cycle em out through. Stupid.
  18. Yep, that's a no go here in NYS. Can't have thumbhole and detachable....
  19. Just realized why I haven't seen one of these.... Your not in NY are you ?
  20. To add to the halo, the advice I was given a long time ago was the bottom is the most important part to keep the eyes in till you switch to kill light because the critters can't see you but they can pick up shadows from your light moving, keeping it above them limits the shadows that will be in front of them (the way they are looking).
  21. Completely agree. I actually hunt a bunch through the season but can't justify the cost of NV or thermal. Between the gun, calls, lights etc, deer hunting gear, guns bows etc, and now fishing, boat, poles etc.... I can't keep up ! If I hit it big, I'll do thermal but for now I'm ok with lights
  22. Now if the chips told me where the fish were.... I'd buy 2 !!
  23. That's a great improvement. The mini's were never impressive when it came to MOA.
  24. Stock stock ??? Never saw one like that before. I've always though the mini's would sell even better if they had a Boyd's or anything other than standard issue
  25. Todd - thanks for the info. Do you think chips are far superior, or a worthwhile investment over factory maps? I know there is a feature that I can plot and save my own readings but as a rookie I'd rather spend my time learning my gear and getting on fish than monkeying with the chart. I think if I sit there and poke around I'll be like the people you see out to eat at a restaurant jamming on their phones all night or the folks that text and walking into walls.
