  1. Thoughts on this boat? - No trailer - what would it cost to buy a trailer? - https://watertown.craigslist.org/boa/d/chaumont-1995-grady-white-226/7190618271.html
  2. I’m kinda a fair weather guy so I don’t see myself out in seas tougher than a 23’ can handle honestly.
  3. I think I've narrowed it down to a walk around - I really like the interiors of the mid 90's, early 2000's - nice and simple, clean lines. Going to keep my eye out for a 21-23' Trophy/Proline/Grady and see what comes my way May have to up my price a bit, but if the right boat came along..
  4. Just sold the holders - and not interested in selling just the saltists (i can use them on Ontario) - but I'd sell if someone wanted the rod & reel.
  5. I was just looking at that Grady - nice boat - with repower and trailer that's going to be way over budget I would think though.
  6. Looking more at pics I don't like the layout on that boat, more seating - less room for landing fish
  7. Thoughts - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1067521543703158
  8. I think glass for the better handling in the chop, IO - Outboard either I think, probably cuddy
  9. Hey all, going to be looking for a larger boat for the next season, 21-23'. My budget will be 10-15k possibly a bit higher for the right boat. I'd love to be able to find something mechanically solid that I could build on and upgrade. As the season is almost over I'm in no rush to buy anything so I don't mind waiting for the right boat. Please don't bother if the boat has issues with hull/transom/stringers, I've learned from previous issues and this time I'm going to pay to have my next boat inspected so I can feel confident about putting money into it to make it the way I want. Feel free to send me a message if you might know of something. Thanks!
  10. Good point there. I don't mind an older boat if it's been maintained. I know it's a fishing boat, but that' doesn't mean it has to look like crap either.
  11. I'm kinda looking for something newer - I'd love to be in the late 90s 2000s - just for fit and finish. I feel like if I'm going to be in the 80s I'm not going to be happy unless it was kept super clean. Seems like most owners don't take care of their boats like I do (i'm pretty anal)
  12. Selling my Tracker on Tuesday in favor of buying a bigger boat just for Lake Ontario. Found myself not fishing for musky anymore. I think I'm going to keep it docked someplace, thinking maybe Braddocks or possibly Brockport Yacht Club (cheaper there - although Braddocks is 8 min from me). I take good care of my things, and I want something that isn't going to be the last person's problem child. I don't mind looking for something that isn't loaded with fishing gear already in order to get a better boat - and then I can do my own additions. Although it would be nice to be turn key. Probably going to be in the 10-13k price range, and really in no hurry to buy, might just wait until spring. Thought and opinions would be great and appreciated. - usually going to be 2 guys on the boat, sometimes 3. I was thinking 23' - not sure I want to go much bigger than that (I've been in my 16' tracker for a year)
  13. I got out there at 6am in my 16', decided it was too choppy and went back. The South wind fills my splashwell up with water too much - was almost up to the deck.
  14. I thought so too, after the first break off I checked the entire leader, and tied a new knot both times after. And on the 3rd one that I was actually fighting I had the drag set so loose that I couldn't reel anything in, I felt the headshake and pop. I'm chalking it up to a bad stretch of flouro
  15. Wet day out of Braddocks today! Went 4 for 8 or 9? (booo!) One medium king and 3 smaller ones. One double header. The current was crazy, all fish were hooked going E to W - trying to go the other way you had to go like 7mph to get a 2.5 down speed. 30-50' down was the magic temp, everything caught on spoons, FF didn't fire once. Lost a nice king on the dipsy, it popped the 20# flouro and took my spoon. Tied another swivel on, 5 min later - same thing. At this time I'm thinking my brother is completely incompetent and can't figure out how to fight a fish, so I set the rod and drag, after tying on another spoon (Palomar knot) and 5 min later I hook up, same dipsy, super light drag - fish runs for 75' or so, I feel a head shake or two and then pop. Spoon #3 gone. I'm beyond irritated at this point and take off the 20# flouro and put 40# on ( all I had above 20 on me) - and at that point didn't get another hookup on the dipsy. Did manage one more hookup on the remaining downrigger that was working (2nd one shorted out on/off switch) - must have been a small steelie or something, jumped a few times and spit the hook. Most action was in 150-175 FOW, 40' down.
  16. That's cursed treasure if I ever heard of it!
  17. South end on Tuesday morning you think is still pretty busy?
  18. Wind is going to be too much for my 16' for Ontario Tuesday with my son, and the water temp is too hot for musky. So - was thinking either Cayuga or Canandaigua. I've fished both a few times, I can't remember - the fish are generally bigger in Cayuga aren't they? The west wind shouldn't be an issue at either lake?
  19. Thats where I got my Tekotas from as well - good people.
  20. Those boats are so nice. I saw one at the launch at Braddocks a few weeks ago. I was jealous in my 16' Tracker!
  21. Thanks. I'm trying to find someone that has experience in marine - as I know hulls can be trickier than just standard welding.
