    Hit the water out of Taughannonk for. First ever Christmas fishing adventure, past people bridge canal was LOW! Turned north. Ran riggers, dipsys, lead core on planers. Landed 9 lakers, all pretty small, some so small didn’t trip rigger or diver. All released. Got bonus fish jigging. 70-100fow weather was great. Only boat out there, until our neighbor came by looking for perch by the Boy Scout camp. Merry Christmas to all.

    I fish mostly the finger lakes, troll and jig for trout. A little bass. I’m thinking of buying one of the new live scope types chart plotter, get something on sale this holiday season. Does anyone have any experience w this in the finger lakes and have a recommendation, or watch out? I will likely remove my Lowrance Ti2 9. Any transducer mounting recommendations? When trolling I typically just use my kicker, not 36v bow mounted, but could use that if that makes sense to mount it on there vs somewhere else. Comments appreciated. Thanks. Will

    I have a control king on my 2022 merc 15 hp. Kicker. I find it to be WAY too sensitive, moving the dial a fraction is usually too much or too little. This was after paying another $20 for a larger diameter throttle mounted disc that was supposed to help. I moved the mounting position on this disc over the winter so maybe that will help but so far I’m not thrilled with it.

    Thanks. We’ve started to really like jigging for trout but I’ll give this another try when we set up for trolling.

    This may be a dumb question, but…. When others set their battery/GPS trolling motor to steer and primarily push ur boat w a kicker, how exactly do u do that? Directional lock the electric at a low speed and then have kicker adjusted to get to desired sog?

    I always fire one primer to clean out any residual oils before putting power or pellets in. I’d guess with the nitro fire this may be less of an issue. I agree w others, use same gun cleaning solvents as u would w a shotgun. If u can get barrel by itself, brake cleaner does a pretty good job, then I finish w G96.

    Went out Sat 20th launched out of Taughannock, launched 7:30 and tried jigging East side. We normally troll but wanted to figure out jigging. Landed 5, had several other hits and follows 85fow, decent marks a few boats trolling near us said they were getting some but limited hits
