  1. Sorry to hear about your loss Scott. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  2. Chris Kiernan and Larry Smith resigned their respective prostaff positions with us months ago. We are going to let the legal experts sort through the details to determine fact from fiction in this case and will deal with the findings appropriately. I'm not defending any of the individuals in this case but there is far more to it than I can discuss and I would ask that you wait for the legal system to run its course before passing judgement on them.
  3. There is far more to this than there appears. We should all wait to see how this plays out. Please do not jump to any conclusions. Any appropriate responses to the end result will be taken.
  4. Jerry, So sorry to hear of your loss. My family has all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know if we can do anything to help out. Bill
  5. I took a nice mature doe yesterday morning at 22 yards. She went all of 15 yards and flopped over. Best kind of tracking job. I also saw a half dozen more does and a scrubby 6 point and a 120" ish 8 point that wouldn't give me a shot. There was good deer movement in the morning here, but my afternoon sit was the polar opposite. It was cold, really windy and raining and I only saw one doe about 100 yards off into the woods.
  6. Here's the sizzle reel for our new show "Respect the Game" which will be airing on Sportsman Channel beginning in January of 2012. Please let me know what you think. http://vimeo.com/30436649
  7. Check out Nockturnals. I've tried most all of them and in my opinion they're the most reliable and easiest to use. http://www.doubletakearchery.com/nockturnal.htm
  8. Thanks Ray - I'll look into that!
  9. As many of you know, I've recently gone to work for Elite Archery. Today we introduced our new logo and our new bow for 2012 - the Answer. I've shot the bow several times already and IMO this is the best bow we've ever produced. Check out your local Elite dealer as they'll be receiving the first Answers off the production line in the next few days! Henrietta, New York; Elite Archery is adding the Elite Answer to its 2012 line up this fall. The Answer debuts with a redesigned two track cam as well as two module options, a smooth mod and a speed mod for those customers looking for different options. “Our customers and dealers told us what they wanted for 2012 and we listened, “ commented Elite Archery President, Peter Crawford. “Time and time again, we heard current and potential Elite shooters asking for a 33.5-inch axle-to-axle bow with a 7-inch brace height and today we are giving them the Answer to their request.†Along with the new dimensions, the Answer has two different mod options available. “Our customers also wanted different draw cycle options on one bow platform. While all of our bows are designed to have a smooth draw and will ship standard with the smooth draw mod, Elite dealers can purchase the speed mod set for their customers requesting a little more speed,†said Elite’s Vice-President, Garret Armstrong. The Answer is available from 27†to 30†draw lengths and from 40 to 80 lbs. The new bow is also available in all of Elite’s current colors; Realtree AP®, Max-1® and AP Snow® as well as the Ninja Black, the AT Editions and the target colors; Elite Blue, Cosmic Orange and Slime Green. When set up with the Smooth Modules; the Answer has an IBO speed of 330 fps and the Speed Modules provide up to an extra 10 fps. Dealers can order the bow in both right and left hand models. The Answer is not all that’s new for the 2012 line up. Elite is also making changes to the existing Hunter, Pure, Pulse and Tour models and re releasing them to the public. All 2012 model bows will have an adjustable cable rod as well as Elite’s patent pending Rod Lock System “The Rod Lock is a patent pending cable guard and string suppressor fastening system new for 2012,†explains Elite Design Engineer, Mike Derus. “Instead of a setscrew tightening directly into the rod, the Rod Lock wedges the rod inside the riser with minimal to no marring to the rod. It will allow you to tune your cable guard and string suppressor rod accurately and easily.†For more information on the Answer as well as other Elite Archery products, please visit http://www.elitearchery.com or call 877-503-5483. 10. IMO the drags on the Clarion are nowhere near as good as those on the Daiwa - not even close. I'd say they're as good as the drags on the Sealine's from Daiwa.
  11. We run our 10 color on a Daiwa Saltist STTLW50HA. Super fast and the best drag Ive ever used. http://www.daiwa.com/Reel/detail.aspx?id=442
  12. Nope - could've shot a few does but it was ungodly hot and I couldn't see how we were gonna get any meat out before it went bad. There was literally nothing moving other than the first hour of the day. Kind of a bummer but it still felt good to be back up in the tree with my Elite.
  13. I wear Scent Lok clothing, not because it's carbon activated, but because I feel it's the best hunting clothing out there. Their new Head Hunter suit is incredibly well made. If it helps with scent elimination then that's an added bonus for me - I'm not sure if it helps keep me scent free all by itself or not. I like to think that the other things I do help more than just wearing a scent lok suit. Like a lot of the guys above, I also shower with scent free soap, wash all of my clothes with scent free detergent, spray down every inch of everything that's going into the woods with me and then store my hunting clothes on my porch all fall - they never come inside the house. I also play the wind to the best of my ability, but sometimes a deer will come in from down wind and throw all that out the window. My system seems to work for me as I can't recall the last time I was busted. I hunted the opener in KY over Labor Day weekend and it was HOT and really humid. 105 degrees for the high each day, and 85 degrees as we walked into the stand each morning. I was soaked with sweat just walking to the stand each morning, but I had several deer cross directly over where we had walked in on the first morning and not one of them reacted negatively, so maybe the Scent Lok clothing helped - I cant imagine I was totally scent free with all the sweat pouring off me as we walked in.
  14. The boat is scheduled to come out of the water in Sodus next week sometime (Sept. 21-23 I'm told). It'll be on blocks outdoors for a period of time while we refresh bottom paint and buff and wax the hull and topsides before it goes into the barn for the winter. Now is the time to come see it if you're interested.
  15. A friend of mine sent me the link to this video and I wanted to share it with all of you here on LOU. Never forget what happened on 9/11. This is an incredible story of the boating community coming together when they were needed most. MDOrzF7B2Kg&feature=player_embedded
  16. We're still using Penn 345's for most of our coppers and we also have Daiwa Tanacom Bull 1000 for long coppers.
  17. We've been running the Saltist's for two years now and love them. As has been mentioned above, the linecounter position takes some getting used to for some people and the clickers on the 30 size are quieter than the other sizes are. We haven't had a 30 size clicker go bad, it's just not as loud as the 40 and 50 size reels that we use for leadcores. The drag on the Saltist is the best out there IMO and I can't ever see going back to a slower gear ratio reel again. The only real complaint that I have is that they don't make the Saltist in a 60 or 70 size so that we can use them for long coppers! With the exception of our copper reels we've swapped all of our reels for Saltist's and couldn't be happier with the decision. As far as the Accudepth Plus reels go, we ran the heck out of 4 of them for 3 or 4 seasons and they didn't miss a beat - they're a great reel for the money and will serve you well for years to come. You'll want to stay away from the original Accudepth reels as they just didn't hold up to the rigors of King fishing.
  18. I'll entertain all reasonable offers. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  19. Wilson Boatyard Marina has great shower and bathroom facilities as well as a real nice fish cleaning station. Check them out here: http://www.wilsonboatyardmarina.com/
  20. Tournament season is over for us - the boat can now be seen in Sodus Point with some advance notice.
  21. Sorry Mower but I sold it last night.
