  1. We fished the same area and ended with just 2 small Kings. One came on a stinger NBK 80 down over 90 and the other was a Carbon 14, 85 down over about 120. lots of bait on the screen in the morning from 80 to 120 foot of water then the screen cleared up after the sun got higher. we'll be back out next weekend weather permitting.
  2. Anyone have results for the 2021 Sodus Pro Am?
  3. Not sure where to post this but here goes..... My boat had some fire damage from a boat next to it. The damage exceeded the boat value so it was considered a total loss. They paid my the agreed value and I bought the boat back. My question is, will the insurance company report the boat as a total to New York and will they issue a salvaged title to me? I'm not sure how that works with a boat.
  4. The Moonshine Mag size Carbon 14 with glow back has probably been our best lure for a few years now.
  5. Went out Thursday morning. We went 6 for 7. 3 kings, 1 coho, 1 Steelhead and a 1 Laker. Fished mostly around 165 foot of water, Riggers took hits down 85 to 95 with Moonshine Carbon 14, diver out 220 with meat on a twinkie and 10 colors with a Stinger NBK.
  6. BW customs is who I had do the insurance estimate. They were great to work with. The motor still preforms flawlessly and I know exactly how it was maintained and what was done over the life of the boat. If I didn't it would be an easier choice. For now I'm going to use it as is. I'm just looking forward to getting back to fishing after screwing around for the last 4 weeks.
  7. Bozeman, The damage is mostly cosmetic but I've had the boat since it was brand new in 1987. I tried to keep it in the best shape I could so although it's not a dock queen it would be terribly difficult to get on it every week looking like it does. Jlogger, I remember when that happened to your boat. It looks like they did a great job with the repair. I did get insurance money for it and bought it back at a good price. the boat is 34 years old with 5500 hours so I need to take a little time and decide the best option going forward. If I decide to look at getting it repaired I would like to hear your experiences.
  8. Well, I got the estimate for the damage. $19,250!! It's more than the boat was valued at so it's a total. I figure I'll use it for a while as is until I figure out what to do next. It's not pretty but it floats and hopefully still catches fish.
  9. Im looking for a place in the Rochester area that can give an estimate on boat damage for an insurance claim? Mostly canvass and gelcoat damage from a fire but There’s also a few other melted parts that need replacing.
  10. I will definitely contact John about the canvas. I’m more concerned with the bubbled gel coat and all the melted parts that need replacing. (Port hole window, rub rail etc.Any good all around boat repair places? Is Great Lakes boat repair still in business?
  11. That’s a great question. I hope so.
  12. Where’s the best place near Rochester ny to get a boat with fire damage repaired? The boat in the slip next to mine caught fire. My gel coat is blistered pretty bad, windshield gasket is melted, rub rail is melted, cabin window is completely melted, canvass(John Mann did the original)and a few other things that might add up. The insurance company hasn’t estimated it yet. Of course the other guy has no insurance. Just trying to get a Juno on it. Probably won’t be able to get anything done this year with everyone so busy.
  13. It sounds just like mine. I changed the update tone from 1 sec to 5 sec and it seemed to help. That might have given it a better average speed. Not sure. I’ll keep an eye on it next time out.
  14. Thanks for the reply. Yea, it might be the unit then. It’s on the dash with no obstructions. It definitely fluctuates to much. I’ll have to a little more research on it.
  15. I didn’t know if the internal antenna would be a factor in the fluctuation. I have a couple of older Garmin units that use an external antenna that have very little fluctuation and read 0.0 mph when tied to the dock. I don’t like using the Fish Hawk when I’m trolling in 10 to 15 feet of water over rocky bottom.
  16. I have a Humminbird 597 ci hd that I’m using just for the GPS so I have the sonar turned off. When I’m trolling the gps speed fluctuates up to 1.5 mph. Even when tied up to the dock it will read .2 to .5 mph steadily. I’m wondering if anyone else has run into this problem that might have some insight on a fix. Thanks Rick
  17. I’m installing a Humminbird 587ci HD. What would be the proper inline fuse for a unit this size? Thanks.
  18. Thanks. I agree about the DI feature. Wish I had known better at the time. I never even use it.
  19. I believe it is the 200khz.
