  1. Wanted:

Crew position aboard an Arima SRHT 19 for the Cayuga LOU ALL. Will not consider any other type vessel; I only fish off the best boats made. Don't waste my time with other offers. Boat must have the capability to fish 40 rods at once. Standard equipment must include auto-pilot, hydraulically actuated kicker with portable engine control. No porta-potty required.

If I didn't know better I would of thought that Chaos was trying to get on my boat. But after rereading his post I figured it must of been for someone else. He knows there isn't any beer on my boat.

I did get a few responses on the ad I placed to get a crew put together for the LOU-All. This is what I have it narrowed down to so far.........

....they'll be in town next week for a interview. 8)

....wake me up before I think it is for real :lol:..

....on second thought, let me sleep a little longer ;) .

    .to be continued....

  2. Him and I with the soon to be patented WILLOW LEAFS changes the game.

I'm sure Stinger & Lyteline knows what I'm talking about!

Hay Zeke..........I think `frisco is a couple years behind  ,...........don't you ;) ? And Slider' partners-up with `frisco thinking he has a leg up on this fishin' stuff...:lol::lol: .

I had to start working on recruiting my new crew. Nobody will fish with me anymore. They all said something about can't afford the tickets :? . I told them that you didn't need tickets to enter,....that the derby was free,.. but they didn't care  . I just can't figure out what the big deal is with those guys :? .

So anyway I'll have to break in a new crew... got a couple nibbles on the ads I placed.... to be continued

  3. Congratulations! Nice catch.

My best catch was a double  last June, twin grandaughters........4 more rods in the water.

Now all I have to do is finish converting the cuddy into the nursery ;) , and get my daughter-in-law to agree to let them go fishin' with grandpa. So far she is holding out ;( .

  4. Chris,.......a fuel/water seperator is really a must have. The upside of having to put one on is that they usually have two knock outs for fuel lines so your kicker will have filtered gas. In the process of adding your kicker fuel line be sure to have a primer bulb inline and in such a way that the primer bulb is not laying flat or in the down position. The primer bulb has a check ball in it so that the fuel does not blead back into the main line which will also prevent siphoning by the main engine.

    Few more weeks ;) .

......well when I added this reply I see that Erin was a little ahead of me. It's a little redundant but I'll just leave it as is  .

  5. Just wanted to put this thread to bed. Made my purchase yesterday at 3 PM. Received it this morning at 11:30 AM. If I needed it that quick I'd be waiting a week or more. Anyway, I went with the Furuno 620 from Hodges Marine. Now all I need is my boat so I can install it  .

2 more weeks to go. 8)

  6. Ever try running dodger/fly for eye's?

--- you've done this on Oneida are are you talking Ontario with the doder fly combo??

Oneida lake is were I usually fish for walleye. Ran the size 00 (6") dodger with some results. Problem is that I did it a couple times when the bite was off and we weren't catching eye's on the regular stuff. Best day for me with flies was 7 eye's,...4 on flies and 3 on plugs (we won't talk about the days I didn't catch anything on the flies :$ ). Ran plugs on one rigger and dodger/fly on the other just to see how one would compare with the other. It was one of those "I told ya they'd work" competitions with my brother. I'm not advocating that you set up for that. Just something to play with if you get bored.

If your going to troll for eye's on Oneida I would say the first piece of equipment to have is a dipsey diver set up. Hands down dipsey's will take more eye's than riggers. Riggers will have their days when they are hot but dipseys will out fish riggers on Oneida most days ;). When your fishing alone try one rigger and one dipsey and see which one starts taking the most hits and then switch both to the better one.

You can use either size dipseys, the 0 or 1. Braided line works great, but if your dipseys are setup with wire for Ontario use them. Wire works just fine also. I like the small dipsey with braided line. Not so much hardware to interfere with the lighter fighting walleye.

  7. Hi Mark.....I've tried sliders on Oneida without much success. I thought that they would pick up some of those suspended fish. I really never gave it enough water time to tell if it was a waste of time or not. I only used spoons for the sliders though.

I'd say go for it. Can't hurt. Just might get some tangles if your running sticks on the sliders.

Walleye & perch are mostly bottom dwellers but there are times when they suspend. Throw out the sliders (or fixed 5' or 6' up the line) when you see them on the screen.

Ever try running dodger/fly for eye's?

  8. This system works pretty good for me. I use PLUG/Stick bait storage boxes. Each box holds 18 flies and a $5.00 kids book bag will hold 5 boxes (90 flies).

You can store the flies by color and the clear tops give you a quick view of what is in each box. Drilled holes in the lids to let out any moisture from wet flies. The little pouch in the front of the book bag holds extra hooks/leader for some on the water redo's if needed.

Got the plug boxes on a close out sale at Bass Pro so the whole works was pretty cheap considering what else is out there. Like I said, it works for me. Just another idea ;) .

  9. I know that this question will probably activate all the jokers (Ray), but I'll try and get a straight answer from someone. so here goes.

Can you see your balls with the in hull installation? With the transom mounts they can be adjusted after the mount is attached. How about the in hull transducers....adjustable? If not  , then what?

  10. I am running big jon electric downriggers. Is there any problem running the 13 lb. torpedos off of these?

I've been running 12 lb'ers on my Big Jon's without any problem. I use the 12 lb balls on my deep (center) riggers usually down 75' to 100' with dodger/fly...- no speed/temp probe.

Those 2 riggers are my original ones I bought in 1991. Been using them every year and haven't needed any repairs. The braking action is starting to get wimpy but they still hold OK, just takes about 2' to stop when they are down that far with all the drag. The slow stop is easy on the whole system,..... ;) .

  11. The prime lakes are an hour and a half tow, all up hill into the Rockies, ;(

what goes up must come down.......heading back home should help make up some that low MPG :) .

Not to much going on back here,....some ol' stuff. Did a couple sports & boat shows on the no fishing weekends to head off some of the bordom. Got a few more things to buy for the boat and if there is any money left over I'll pick up a couple more rods  (just back-ups ;) ).

BTW...how many rods/lines can you legally use there? Hope it's more than two. The rod limits shouldn't matter much anyway if you were paying attention when you went out on my boat ;) . Also you really don't have to return the book you borrowed `cause you'll probably need to refer back on a couple of the chapters that focus on stealth ( above the water line) trolling.......

Behave yourself out there and don't give away all your tricks at once. Trade then one for one with the locals but I'm sure you'll catch your share anyway.

I'm still a little upset that you left town without any hugs or kisses goodby ;( . You left in a hurry and quietly.....you sure the tax man wasn't after you?

    ...say Hi to MaryAnn.......Later

  12. southshoremarine

I have great prices on both $705 on the Furuno $777 for the Ray

Looks like I'm pretty sure that I'll go with the Furuno FCV620.

Does that $705 price include the transducer?

...also is it a new unit or refurbished?

  14. Ok Ray......I could have answered to all three responses (depending on what age you consider an "Old Fart") :? . So only being able to select one answer I checked off #3-At Work.

And like Seasquirrel, this isn't the only web site I frequent every day.....and don't forget all the shopping that gets done while at WORK. Just bought a set of trim tabs this morning....after a couple days of research  ......next buy is a new fishfinder ;) .
