Nope, I still havent caught anything. A little bit of a slow start to the season for me with only one sit so far. I was hoping to get out this morning but the rain had better ideas and scared me away. Im hoping in the upcoming week (tues or weds) that my schedule will change and I can get in the woods. I have been doing my best to get ahead with work so I have free time during prime time.

No doubt the past 24 hours have been the most active my cameras have been on the season so far. The typical doe/fawn pics along with a ton of buck pics. Bucks of all ages including a couple matures. 3 different buck sparring sessions. Im curious to see what the movement is during the first couple of hours of daylight. I did have one of my targets on camera yesterday morning in daylight.

Congrats everyone

So I have multiple good bucks daylighting past one of my stands. Mostly PM visits during the daylight. There has been am visits but Im reluctant to hunt the mornings because Im not sure exactly where they are coming from and my approach is in that direction. The issue is I can only hunt the stand on a north wind. So today I went in and hung a new set about 60 yards away that I can hunt on a SW wind. I was hoping to get in there tonight but I past with the rain in the forecast.

No doubt a high probability morning... wishing I was in the woods instead of heading to work!

Damn the bucks were active overnight!!! I figured with the wind yesterday they would be. Cameras blew up after midnight!

Deer are on their feet and cameras have been firing off since about 4 am!

October 7 PM
W wind 5-20 MPH
Partly cloudy skies
First sit for me in the NYS deer woods and it was a good one. Snuck into the stand at 230. That was pretty early but I knew I had a few branches that needed to be trimmed.
Cameras were surprisingly slow yesterday. I figured with the cool temps deer would be active but apparently nope. By 445 does really starting moving. Around 615 or so I had a first year rack show up and walk by the stand at 28 yards. To my surprise he was being followed by a wide racked mature 8 pt. Of course he didnt follow the same path as the other deer and fed for about 30 minutes from me at 50 yards. Well by this time I am covered up in does including a bunch directly down wind. They were quiet uneasy and eventually blew and took off. The situation in the woods was very tense after that and I eventually watched the buck disappear back where he came from.
Great night 25+ deer (2 bucks including one shooter)

Rob is this the same outfitter you had been going to in late season? Is it a self guided trip? Ever thought about hitting that 2nd week of November with them?
It is. The problem I have with that time of year is Im not willing to give up my time at my home properties to hunt out of state then. However 2 seasons ago I hunted that exact time there because I was tagged out here in NY.

Is there any left for you Rob?
14000+ acres in SE Ohio so no lack of good bucks. 3 of the bucks that were shot were "new" bucks for the outfitter.

Well Im back home after hunting the first 5 days of the Ohio bow season. Zero luck for me. Statistically even with 85 degrees high temps and east/North east winds bucks were still being shot. 16 guys in camp. 8 bucks arrowed. 4 bucks passed. And another 3 or so bucks out of range. Great time was had and Im looking forward to next year there.
