  1. I believe lakers feeding only on alwives also suffer from a thiamine deficiency which interferes with natural reproduction . If there is smelt in the diet this problem doesn't happen. Just what I have heard from those in the know.
  2. Thats what I was thinking ,if there real shallow 10- 15 ft or less I don't think I will mark them , not only are they spooked but the cone angle from the transducer is so small its hard to pick them up .I have the lowrance x 135 , good unit , I start marking fish good in the 20 ft level and don't pay much attention to the stuff above that as my sensitivity is turned up to about 85 % to pick up the fish and my lures down deep , so there is some interference up in the 10 ft range on the screen . . I'll turn the sensitivity down a little when I get up there and see what pops out on the screen .Just trying to find a starting point , thanks for the help .
  3. Steelfire , what depth should I target that time of year for the kings , or does it depend on conditions , are they normaly on the bottom when staging in front of the creek mouths or up near the suface , trying to figure out where to run the riggers !!
  4. Then what leader for fall salmon??
  5. Thanks walleye , Nice boat , can anyone else help out also ?
  6. Hi guys , I am a finger lakes fisherman most of the time , but I can't stop the urge to come up to the big lake in the fall !! I want to try to get into some salmon off Sodus point this September with my downriggers , I thought I would run some J-plugs and was wondering if I should run a wire line ,dipsey- dodger fly set-up , will they hit the fly this time of year ?? I can't decide what line to run as far as pound test for the kings and if I should use a leader , I would rather just skip the leader and the extra knot ,but I no it sometimes is necessary to go with a heavy mainline for the flea and then a leader . Whats the best way to go . Thanks Bruce
  7. Hey thanks Ray , there great !!!, What a hoot , I'm still laughing !! What a crew!!!
  8. Can someone put the group picture up on the site ?? I'd love to see it !! Maybe your already in the process , thanks
  9. Great job guys , Thanks for the effort , good to see everyone and get together for the weigh-in , sinkers in the fish , dynamite in most boats ( not mine ) probably why I didn't weigh in any fish !! What a group of guys , probably had something to do with the fact we weren't allowed in the park at Long Point only the parking lot!!!
  10. Ok I'll bring the keg tap system , I have enough hose that will reach out to your boats as long as you stay close to the long point area , just troll off the point in circles and the hoses won't get tangled
  11. Not sure what you guys have planned as far as refresments , if you have it under control thats fine , I was just thinking if its a hot one out there Sat. afternoon I could bring a big cooler full of COLD BEER ! OOPS I mean water were at a family oriented park , I no you all got excited and were going to skip the fishing and just run me down on the water for my cooler of beer !!! I no how you guys work!! But I have a big cooler that would work for the WATER, let me no.
