Thanks for the illustrious explanation Pap. I knew the crusader rating was based on horsepower as mine are 350's. I just had never heard of a 454 with a crusader 260 designation before. I'm always looking for better oil and my inlaws run several big farms in the southern tier and they run rotella but in all their diesels. I will find some for my 454's. Thanks again. church boards on mast
Paul Czarnecki replied to mightyhunter's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Paul's Planers are very compact and work great for what you're talking about. If space is really a premium and you want to run multiple board lines church inlines can't be beat. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

If you run them the same distance as your J9s or jr thundersticks in 8 fow you WILL donate some. I learned that the hard way too. 😠75' is a good distance in 8-10 fow and in 12-15 you can stretch it back to 120. If you absolutely HAVE to run them way back in shallow water use a float to keep them up higher. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Running Depth
Paul Czarnecki replied to jeffmac85's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Because of their action Dodgers will tend to ride up without some weight. You "might" be able to run it clean but would be better off with 1oz of lead or a 1 color core. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
Lake Erie Ice Coverage
Paul Czarnecki replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
The ice water is going to be coming out of the Niagara whether they pull the boom or not. That's my point. Erie is full of ice and ice water. All that water is going out the Niagara. The boom doesn't stop it. Removal of the boom, while it might get rid of SOME of the ice in Erie, will NOT warm the 33 degree water between Erie and Buffalo at all. It is what it is and there is nothing any of us can do about it! There's plenty of fish to be caught in the ice water so, like I said, SHUT UP AND FISH! 😄 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

I agree with what you're saying. When that division was created several of us were against it and said it wouldn't work. It hasn't. I was just trying to explain how everything came about and the "reasoning" behind it. If some "captains" acted as such and entered the division intended for them this issue would never have occurred. Unfortunately for some it's all about "the win". 😠Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Lake Erie Ice Coverage

Actually when the boom was pulled had little if anything to do with the early spring fishing last year. Believe it or not! They were catching numbers of kings off rochester in mid April last year. It had NOTHING to do with the ice boom and everything to do with how the lake cooled down in the fall. Rochester was the last place on the lake to cool down so that held the most kings in the spring. This year is DIFFERENT from last year. Again, believe it or not! If you do a little research you too can find out what was the last region of the lake to cool off last fall. That is the region that will hold the most salmon once the lake temp hits 42 degrees and they become active. That is all the info I'm sharing. 😄. It's tourney time boys! I'm just sick of hearing all the gloom and doom ice boom talk. SHUT UP AND FISH!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Not defending it at all but the rules were set up to allow ANYONE to fish- including captains, that may only have one day to fish. Just because someone holds a captains license doesn't mean he is any better on that day than anyone else. I believe you can only weigh 3 fish (or 5?) regardless of the number of persons on board. Boat size is irrelevant too--if it's too rough for your boat don't enter that day. If you don't like it don't fish it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Fortunately, Tim, my old unit functions fine with the new one and I'm keeping it for navigation and waypoints. If I don't like all the fish I'm seeing but not catching I can always "run home to momma" and fish blind again. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Lakers are everywhere right now. Start in 20 fow and work out to 40. They will be there somewhere and eat anything that comes by. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
