  1. I'll be interested in responses too. I just installed my 587 this weekend. I used the flush mount 525-PL 12 from airmar. So far the default settings seem ok. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. I know. Hence the 😳 face. 😄 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  4. Here is one of the Bay Rat Billy Baroo prototypes. Browns love em! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. If you had to choose only one I would say go with 30# stainless wire (malin, afw, torpedo or my favorite BLOOD RUN). 1000 ft of wire with a little mono under it should fill your reel nicely. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. You're talking about two different things my friend. Copper is its own deployment device. Wire is multi stranded stainless and is used with dipseys. I doubt your Okuma is big enough to handle a 300 or 400 copper but should work for a wire Dipsey setup. To run a wire diver you "should"'replace the tip with a twilly. 7. It hasn't been released yet. With some "prodding", a few of us got Bay Rat to make a few prototypes and we ran them last year. They performed very well and you will be seeing them on the site soon I'm sure. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Bay rat also makes a " billy baroo" Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Unless you switch brands or types of paint you are usually ok to apply new over the old as long as the old is still in good shape. Always check with manufacturer to be sure though. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. I assume they were out of temp as "temp" was down around 70 that week. As I pointed out in the LOTSA Salmon school, most of the big kings I catch are out of temp--either on the cold side or the warm side. Catching two BIG matures a day apart that high in the water column wasn't as peculiar as the conditions---hot, sunny and FLAT and at 130 in the afternoon! 11. BAY RATS Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. Actually......YES! Our two biggest kings last year came the first week of August a day apart---23' down! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Double half hitches will work fine and not present any problems going through guides. Simply tie two half hitches in one side and then do the same on the other side. Slowly pull together. Done! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. That's not the mouth of the Columbia. I believe it's actually in Europe somewhere during a typhoon. Amazing footage though. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. FINALLY!!!! The best post of this entire thread!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. 40# leader on leadcore? I've never needed more than 20#. With baby spin doctors targeting spring cohos shorter leaders are better. 12-14" is all you need--cohos are very aggressive. 25-30# fly leaders. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Gonna be tough to beat the class acts in Top Gun and Son of a Gun. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Call it whatever you want. Leadcore never tracks straight for very long while weighted mono will track as straight as your riggers. It also "undulates" up and down in the water column giving baits a totally different action than if pulled behind a rigger ball or keel sinker. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. The leadcore presents a totally different action than a weighted mono line. The weighted mono presents more like a downrigger. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Hey now!!!! Agh......never mind. I do reproductions too. 😃 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. I should have qualified my initial post by saying that the baits pictures were special prototypes I am field testing. They contain tannerite. Designed for those short biting Browns and Kings, the slightest smack causes the tannerite to explode---killing the fish. No hooks needed. I figure it will also fix that annoying fishing buddy that has to rummage through your boxes "just looking". 😄 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Well.....isn't this special??? I think the discussion is moving along splendidly. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. We ran them on Browns last spring and they out fished my thundersticks and rapalas. I took kings and cohos with them all through May in Niagara. Most durable and versatile plug I've ever run and they are made ENTIRELY in the USA. They will do fine for you. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. It won't be long now boys. Bay Rats---the most requested "last meal" of brown trout everywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. Same answer BW. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
