Make sure you call Phil early and get signed up I was not able to get the night I needed for the adult youth league a few years ago and had to shoot at Creekside for a winter. It was great for my son with the moveable back stops we could shoot next to each other at different distances at the same time. Marica was great with the kids the after league stuff she did with them was alot of fun for the kids.

I do 90% of my own bow work but i have been out to meet Phil and he is the best Rochester has for sure and he is a great Guy as well!!

  2. Nice pics Rob!! I usually set my Cameras to get head on or going away pics to help the trigger speed problem. I also will scrape a big dirt area clean abiut 3' or 4' around in front of the camera it gets the deer to stop and check it out, if I have a little deer scent (non rut) laying around from last year I will dump that in as well.

I think the DEC put the kabosh on all mineral and feed for deer year round because of the chronic waste scare so becareful with that. What kind of camera are you guys using? I have just scraped up a clean area in front of the cameras before and the deer will usually stop and give a sniff long enough to catch them on camera. As far as leases I use to buy hunting memberships from a guy here is his web site. www.wolfsheadhuntingclub.com

I think he might have had some property to lease as well check it out. Also you can try and google hunting land lease new york I think you might find some companys leaseing land that way as well.

  4. I would like to say it would come from my boat but I am still new at this so probably not! But I think it will come from the oak and it will weigh 38lbs 6oz. I hope to catch at least one fish that qualify's for weigh in this year but hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. Good Luck to all!!

  5. Rod

I hope to fish the weekends and maybe a few weekdays depending on family, work, weather (only got a 18' trophy wa) and sometimes I have a hard time finding people to go. I usually launch at sandy creek but with it being on the trailer I could travel. If anybody out of sandy creek or near by ports needs another body pm me if my boat is light on crew I would just rather tag along on another boat.

Sorry I did not here you we fished the west end of eel bay, picton channel, near big round and we even ran down to cape vincent a couple of times. Here is how it went I will post some pics when I get time.

    Sat no fishing

Sun 4 hrs of fishing went 8 for 12 on pike from 20 to 30" Green NBK with a 4oz trolling weight with 30 lb power pro sent out 110' to 180' back in 20 to 35 FOW. The second best spoon was a black and white spoon with a silver back and a red eye. We did this all week.

Mon 6 hrs of fishing 10 for 14 all pike

Tues sleep in, family boating, 2 hrs family fishing 1 pole in the water 2 for 4 pike

Wed the wind blew out of the NE and the fishing sucked 1 for 6 all pike

Thursday 5 hrs 8 for 11 all pike

Friday no fishing sleep in went golfing and recovered from a crown royal hang over.

I could not get any big pike to hit meaning over 30" but we had spots if we wanted to we could have caught small pike 20-24" all day long when ever it was cloudy! But we spent a lot of time working deeper water with larger marks and up to 8 oz trolling weights but could not get them to hit.

A real high note was my 13 yr old nephew caught a 4lb 10oz large mouth off the dock it was a real hog!! My 8 year old son also reeled in his first 2 pike and he was very excited.

The weather was good and we all had a great time we might try and do 2 weeks together next year if a cottage opens up.

Also we did try trolling big stick baits and deep divers with no luck and we did not put in any time for sm or perch but some people were drifting near round island and bringing in some real nice stringers of perch 8-12" and a couple of sm that where 2-3 lbs.

We have 3 clover plots 2 of them are about a 1/2 acre each and 1 is about 1.5 acres this seems to keep the deer on our 300 acres pretty happy we used to have a 5 acre clover field but the deer could not keep up with it and with the cost of fert and seed we dropped to less acreage. All the above plots are planted about 2 years apart and when they are put in they are a mix of several clovers, chicory and brassica for the first year but the clover keeps for about 3-5 years before replanting.

  8. I am leaving in a few hours for Clayton I will be there until Friday so if your up there give me a Yell on the radio I monitor channel 9, 16, 68 & 72 but I think they use the 72 for the shipping lane ship to ship so it is best to stay off that one! Good Luck and tight lines!!

  9. Hey Clambelly

Are you really going to get that boat wet? It is about time there have been a few good reports the last few weeks but the guys should be able to help you with more recent stuff. It sounds like from the reports from the oak the lake maybe in for a Major temp. change and it could make it tuff. Next week is starting to look like it is setting up great for Clayton I hope those n pike are hungry. I will have a 6 pole spread trolling for the big one I hope to break the 15lb or maybe 20lb mark yeah right! It will be fun trying. Good luck if you get out i will try to talk to you at work before I leave Friday afternoon.

I would try 10 to 15oz in 25 gal of water (about 0.5 oz per gal) of 41% concentrated round up or a generic equivalent i use razor pro I get it off ebay. TRY THIS ON A SMALL AREA FIRST! until you get the results you are looking for you may have to make it weaker or stronger depending on your application rate if it goes bad you can always replant a small area if you have to. Our pond is bass only it was an established cow watering pond with bass in it there is little to no food for them other than bugs and eating each other which is why the 20 year old bass are only 10 to 12 inches long. We have had a bit of a weed problem this year as compared to other years but it does not seem to bother the bass sorry I am not much help in the pond management dept. You should google pond management i am sure there must be info out there somewhere there probably is a board similar to this one you could ask questions on.

Try this link it seemed pretty informatve and it does cover trout fishing as well http://www.authorstream.com/Presentatio ... owerpoint/

The camp is located near rt 16 in the town of Sardinia just outside Arcade. The price of fert is horrible 2 years ago it was 8 bucks for a 66lb bag this year I paid 28 bucks for the same stuff. I used to spray a liquid fert made from kelp I just mixed the concentrate up and went over the plots with the atv sprayer I think I will have to price that out for next year. Where are your plots located up here or down south? As far as those weeds when starting a fresh plot sometimes it pays to burn it down with round up then till it wait 2 to 3 weeks and watch for the new stirred up weed seed to start growing and spray it a second time it will give you a better start, I also have tried spraying clover fields with a weak mix of round up it does kill some of the grass and the clover sometimes will look dead but it will usually come back this is best done in the spring.

  12. I went to hunting camp on Sunday 7/20 to check up on the new food plots and to see if the old ones need mowing. Well the new ones look great (clover, chicory & brassica) and the old ones need mowing and still do because my son was having way to much fun catching LM bass in the pond to take the time out to mow them on this trip. We have a lot of tree stand work to do this year and we must dig a new hole for the outhouse and move it PHEW! The deer sign looks great and now we have a farmer leasing out a 40 acre section to plant corn that will be another big food plot for the deer and some money to offset the taxes.

Are there any other Food plotters on the Board? It is addictive!

  13. I run the 13lb torpedo weights and the blow back is a lot better and some guys run the shark weights which i hear work awesome but a little pricey. Believe your speeds they will be much different than your surface or gps ground speeds and every time you change trolling direction it will probably change due to the down currents but that is why you bought it to tell you what is going on down there

  14. Well after reading this post I signed up and got the my cast 5 weather for my cell phone and it is a great tool and all the guys at hunting camp will love it to. I think I will pass the hat before I give them wind direction for the morning hunt LOL! Maybe not they really are bad texas holdem players and I take enough from them playing cards so I guess I should not charge them for the weather forcast to.
