  1. The high thrust model will push the boat better. The motors are designed to move sailboats and

displacement hulls at a lower speed. I think the 9.9 has a 15 or 25 hp gear case with better gear ratios. They now have the clearance to run a bigger diameter, low pitch prop. This keeps the prop from cavitating and moves the boat better than a small prop with a lot of slippage.

I have been looking for a used 9.9 four stroke for sometime...decided to buy brand new...Yamaha T9.9.

    Good luck.

  2. but I really need to know if the furthest line out goes in front or back of the pole that has the line closest to the boat. Jeremy

The way I run them is the furthest back is the line closest to the tow board, then next one out comes closer to the boat and is in second position from the tow board, the next would be even closer to the boat and the third line down the tow line and so on.

If you are running a horizontal rod holder system (3 rod holders), I would run the one on the left is the farthest out, the middle holder would be the second farthest out and the right holder would be the closet to the boat and last on the tow line.

Otherwise, you will have many tangles.

  3. Big Easy. I am going through the same process. Is that an Adventure Marine outboard bracket? I am looking at that direction for mine. If so, do you like it? Any problems on the install?

I plan on doing the same with the rubber boot through the transom with my kicker cables.

    Thanks for the response.

    Sorry Trolling82 for hijacking.

Local pickup or buyer to pay shipping.

  5. I have a 24' Thompson hardtop and I am looking for a kicker to put on....question is what size. I have seen alot of similar boats that have 9.9 hp kickers. I have my eye on an 8hp four stroke...would that work?

    Thanks for the help.
