  1. WOW, That is 600 feet of core + leader and backing.

You are pushing seven hundred feet of line behind the boat.

    Sounds interesting.

What kind of reel are you going to use. I would hope it is a high speed reel.

As far as distance out goes...it should be the same as a 600' copper rig. Right?

  2. Chowder, thanks for the reply...do you have a picture of the set-up you are using?

I am changing the layout on my boat and have the bert's track with the racheting rod holder for the dipsy. I am looking to free space on the sides of the boat. I am trying to plan this move so if I decide to run two dispsies on each side I will have the holders. Mainly my tree holder would be used for spring fishing and some leadcore during summer.

  3. I am considering getting the big jon Rod holder tree this winter. Has anyone used this type of rod holder system? If so, can you give me some pro's and con's. I would use it mostly for planer boards...not sure if I can run a dipsy off it.

    Thanks, Ray

  4. Kremer, it was a day to remember. The 2 kids reeled all the fish in and by the time we finally picked up and headed in to the dock, the kids were tired. They were all average size....nothing big to note. We kept these four due to the hook damage.

  5. What a day on the lake...beautiful November weather and the fish were biting. We went 25 for 30. Yes, that is right. We nailed them. We fished from Dean's Cove. We were in 140 - 180 fow and down anywhere from 25 - 100. The hot ticket today was spoons, any color, while Stickbaits did nothing. The riggers were most productive for us today. We fished from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm and as soon as the clouds covered the sun...the fish stopped feeding. We mostly caught LL and a few lakers. We kept four.

A good way to end the season fishing from the boat.

  6. Duane. Thanks for the response.

I have a 600' copper setup and a 10 color leadcore setup, and I prefer to run the leadcore over the copper. I just do not like copper...so that's why I am considering changing over to all leadcore. I like the snap weight idea on the 10 color.

The DEC website states the following.....Cayuga is stocked annually with approximately 60,000 lake trout, 25,000 brown trout and 40,000 landlocked salmon. Cayuga's tributaries are stocked with 50,000 rainbow trout.

  8. Fished out of Dean's Cove from 9:30 to 3:00 today. In all it was a decent day. We caught about 10 small LL, 3 bows and 1 LT. We fished in 180-220 FOW and down 50 - 110. The biggest fish came down 82 over 180 on a green stinger spoon, an 8lb rainbow. Picture is attached. The kid holding the fish is 6'3". All fish were released for another day.
