I rewired my boat last spring...
I ran 4awg from battery (in stern) to cuddy where my fuse block is located. The fuse block has my am/fm radio, subtroll, hummmin bird fishfinder(1158C), Lowrance (5200) GPS and there is no interference. I do not have a switch to turn it off, however, if I don't use the boat for an extended period of time, I simply pull the fuse.
I went with the following...

Ray I've seen a pic of your sweet kicker set-up in past posts...I'm going to a similar set-up off a swim platform mount. What length shaft do you run?
Thanks RP.
I went with the extra long shaft...I am able to get more bite from the prop in the water than I would have with the long shaft.

As far as connecting to the main engine. I use EZ-Steer. Works great for me. There are different sizes of EZ-steer based upon your application.

Get a fuel/water seperater with one input from tank and two outlets to motors.
I run a 2 cycle main and a four stroke kicker this way.
Glen
I have had mine this way for 2 years and no problems. I have 5.0L Merc I/0 with a 9.9 Kicker on the same fuel/water separator.

Thanks for sharing. The American Spirit will always be strong!

Made it out today...out of long point. Manage a few a fish, however, not big enough for the scales. We had two lakers just over 8lbs, but not enough to place on the board.
Flashers and flies were our hot ticket today.
Had fun with my crew.

Thank you 58Johnson! Didn't think we had a chance to put our fish on the board...oh well, guess there is tomorrow.

Had to get off for farming duties...be back at it tomorrow am. What's on the board for reference for tomorrow.
Our biggest today was 7lbs.
Thanks,

Ray, I sent you a PM, don't want to hijack the thread.
I have a similar setup to Ray's. I won't go anywhere without an aux. motor. My buddy just had his main puke on him 5 miles out. Got back on his kicker. Took an hour, but a lot cheaper than a tow.
PM replied & added pictures to my first post. Hope this helps.

I have a full swim platform on my boat and still have mounted a kicker motor. It is so nice to have the platform because my cooler sits on it to save room in boat.

Wiring Electronics on a new boat

I only wanted to rewire once, so I did it with the heavier gauge as I knew I would not have a problem.
I used this wire...
