  1. Unfortunately the drug cartels, gang members, MS-13, and many of our own "citizens" view the existing laws, legal system, and law enforcement as totally irrelevant to their greedy money-gathering activities and are willing to pay huge amounts of money for guns that have been assembled from parts, or stolen and then the serial numbers removed. The gunsmiths and people familiar with the assembly of firearms do not care about the existing laws, nor are they deterred from making fortunes from the activities. It is logical and prudent to be concerned about ANY process that would further exacerbate the problems we already have but just making something illegal by legislative measures won't change things either with the massive amounts of money involved. Our incompetent legislators at the Federal and State levels don't have a clue about what to do about any of these problems. most have absolutely no actual knowledge of firearms, and usually they initiate bogus laws to pretend to be in "control" of legitimate gun owners (of which I am one) that they have access to the registry information about - and make it look to the general public like they are "doing something" about the problems....meanwhile illegal guns and criminals using them flood the streets in ever escalating numbers doing whatever they wish with those illegal firearms.

I hear what you’re saying. My point was , that there is a law against manufacturing firearms. So the patterns to manufacture 3D printed guns should automatically be illegal , and not available to the general public

  2. Has anybody used this unit. I was thinking about buying it for my new boat. I want to spend around $1,000 I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with this unit

I bought the hook 7 last year. Had issues with unit not turning off or turning back on by itself. It killed my battery twice. Lowrance has a weird warranty system. They want you to pay an upfront fee ( returnable) to get your unit fixed. Hook works fine now . I like the chirp. Menu is a little confusing. Steep learning curve if I had it to do over I’d buy something different

  3. Hey guys. Where is the best place to find accurate lake forecasts? Took the day off today because they were calling for 2’ on my app and thought I’d get a break from the hot weather. Sucked out there with 5-6’. Only one other boat out there braving it with me.

That’s typical. NOAA forecast , add 1 foot to their forecast. Calling for 1 -3. Figure 2-4. Been that way for the 40 years I’ve been fishing Lake O

I bought a “case” of herring strips from A Tom Ik this past spring. I haven’t used them yet as I had a couple of packs left over from last year. 6 trays of 8 strips each cost $107 shipped in a cooler with gel packs if they work they will be worth every cent nobody said this was a cheap sport. Lol

  5. Got one king on a fake meat rocket off 300 dipsey, my rigger were 100-120 . I have a new fishhawk that shows how deep the rigger is . Tuesday and Wednesday the fish were a lot higher and out of temp . Thursday morning , I fished the same depth and didn’t move a rod . When I went deep . Rods fired.

Have you checked your rigger counter against your fish hawk. It’s an eye opener. I run 16# torpedoes and it’s still a big difference, especially in currents

  6. There MUST be witnesses 4th of July on the water. I hope they catch these jerks and I hope you and the other boat owners can get a huge judgement. I’ve got a spare 8 ft vhf antenna if you need it it’s yours. Let me know

  7. First run in awhile tonight and noticed a bunch of new buoys east and west of the piers. Seemed to be in the 80fow range. Yellow and did not look to be lit or marked. Other than tackle collectors and boat scrapers, what are they ?

Yellow buoys signify limits of anchorages or dredge lines. They can also mark pipes. Give them a wide clearance

  8. If you're up in the 1000 Islands area, I would just take it to Don's Prop Shop. Very professional and a fairly quick turnaround time. I would also get a back-up prop as I used to hit the rocks a lot near Clayton and that entire river. Good luck!

Don sold the business. They are no longer open in Clayton. One of the marinas around there bought his equipment. I will miss Don. He fixed a lot of props for me over the years

  9. I'm fishing out of an 18ft boat. I would like to try Henderson / Sandy Pond area this weekend, but the forecast is calling for winds out of SW at 11 to 14 mph.
Not sure if I should make the run or trailer to Mexico / Oswego?

    E

You’re closer to the pond when you launch at Mexico Pt than from Henderson. SW 11 to 14 knots , expect a bumpy ride anywhere in Mexico bay

  10. My guess is that the high ethenol gas has destroyed your phenolic float. You can buy a kit from iboats or west marine. I have rebuilt my mercarb and one for a friend. Not a bad job if you have any mechanical knowledge. You will need your carb number as there are early and late carbs. And you will need to buy the new float separately, as it doesn’t come with the kit

  11. It's a 3.0 ,4 cyl Merc cruise er the thing seems to be to much fuel as I have to keep the motor cover off if I drop the lid it runs crap y the fuel mix jet make no difference even if I set it tight

Is it a Rochester or Mercarb ? Sounds like it’s not getting enough air. Is the choke stuck on ?

Be aware, in NY at least, if you carry both expired flares and newly dated flares, you are in violation. Just carrying the expired flares has issues if the law man decides to bust your stones for any other reason.

This is untrue. The CG encourages you to carry expired flares along with current unexpired flares
