  1. Tom I agree.. And thats is the only thing that really matters here. Fish on chris
  2. Tom, I too give dave the utmost respect for what he has done for your tournement..Glad to see it I understand all of the concerns but who really has the answers.. All i said was contact the people who know. Thats it. I agree with you..like i said in my last post..nobody forced it down the throat of anyone..so yes you are rite. As far as the numbers game goes i think every tournement will suffer losses no matter how big or how small they may be..Jobs lost, bad economy, cant get vacation from work ...etc..Again i will say this I AM AGAINST THE RULE.. always have been..But does this change mean big changes or does it mean change for only the few..How many boats do you think will start to fish again as a result of this change?? 5 maybe 10. are we seriouse..The rule has been in effect for so long that quite honestly i dont think too many people even think about it anymore. atleast not until someone brings it up..There are plenty of boats that are fishing the tourney now and there will be more coming thats for sure..When payouts are getting bigger and they are usually trying to throw money in all over the tourney to make it better for us..We need answers from the people who are in charge and thats what we should get. When have any tournement players had a say in what the rules should or should not be. If they did maybe they too may slant the rules in there favor..It should not be allowed to happen..Our input is great for them and im sure they appreciate all of it but do you really think they should base rules on what a bunch of smelly fisherman think? lol.. That is the job of the tournement comittee to decide. This tournement is as level playing field as it could possably be for everyone involved..The cheaters will still cheat..so keep the playing field level..there is no reason the cheaters should win out. It will happen and no matter how hard you try and police it if someone wishes to cheat they will and you cant stop it..Last yr. they caught a a boat that was incorrectly filling out his fish log data in oswego didnt they and there observer filled out the paper work.. so there goes that.. idea.the rules prevailed and unfortunatly the boat was dq.again the fact that the rule is there or its not has no berring on how we fish nor does it matter to the pro boats that i associate with..They simply do not do it. if you want to use ur phone go ahead if not then stay off the f---ng thing. If you look back through out the years the top place finishers have always been about the same Boats and captains just in different places... some new comer sneaks in and get paid and thats great but lets be real here. how many pro boats are willing to share info during tourney time...not many and if they do it wont be much good.. When you/your teams are collecting their check does it really matter to you ...i dont think so... Your applause and your high fives and cheers may disagree with you Thats all i got to say about that............lol Good luck. Chris
  3. Genrtlemen If we don't wish to communicate we wont. Rule or no Rule. NOBODY says we have too..Its that simple. So some can complain until the cows come home the fact is that many boats already do not communicate. If you understand the quality of the competition you will understand that the people who are finishing well are those that are fishing well..I have been fishing these west end pro ams since they started and i can honestley say it doesnt make a difference as far as i can see. NOBODY IS GOING TO SHARE INFO ON TOURNEY DAYS. Atleast far as i can see. I cant really see Oswego from the oak so thats a little tricky to say. The rule is the rule. People are going to cheat as long as we have competition. Its the nature of the beast. you cant stop it. I AM ALL FOR THE NO COMMUNICATION RULE... lets get that straight right now...have been for years..But lets face facts..if you have to win a tourney because your friends have called you then lets face it you probably shouldnt be fishing in this tournement. As most likely you dont know much about fish anyways. Were not all going to take first every tourney.. Sorry tom.. get in line with the rest of us. Wish we all could.. But we have to Take our spanking like men and go home. The playing field is as even as it can be across the board for everyone with the rule the way it is. Cheaters are everywere around us. Gentlemens agreement was mentioned..lmfao.. Thats out the window as soon as we leave the dock.. If questions need to be answered then i suggest we look in our own back yards for the answers first..Obviousley starting in Oswego call Dave Turner..The rule wasn't stuffed down anyone's throat it was inherrited by Oswego as part of the rule which were already in place. Lets all get our facts right before we go spilling false info all over the place..It doesnt seem to be hurting anyone right now nor in the past.. Just how I feel Mav
  4. Tom and friends The derby is under construction as we speak..i know of this first hand. lots of details still need to be worked out yet..As we all know all to well the money has to come from somewere..sponsers and other related items are starting to come together but again it all takes time. Thats what is going on for now. I dont think that Bob is too interested in letting this thing out yet while it is in the embrio stage..But if all goes well we will have the derby for 2010. chris
  5. Rick, Our thoughts and prayers our with you and your family. Chris and crew.
  6. FINALLY!!!!!!!! We have grown ups listening again... As a pro for many yrs i believe it should be the best fishing team of the two day event..Who makes the best choices who reads there water the best. who puts the best program together for two days... NOT who has the most friends they can go pull some fish from. Eyes to the east eyes to the west.. thats alot of answers in a couple of phone calls.. I think we should all stand on our own two feet alone with no cruches or handrails to hold on too.. Sink or swim on your own merritt.. KEEP COMMUNICATIONS CLOSED...ALWAYS FELT THIS WAY AND STILL DO...... Just my oppinion, Maverick
  7. Well i know for fact that if you were to fish maple island you will find fish (northerns) as well as bass and even a cruising lunge. drift on the south shore and the west side their are plenty of humps and bumps all thru that island that keep pike and other fish their all year. you will have to change your depth in order to find them but they are there. been fishing that area for 20 yrs or more. its a guarentee. you could also try pine island, calumet island. eel bay is always a good choice but this time of yr water is to warm and that bay is pretty shalloww for the most part. your looking for 30 to 70 ft of water. be very careful of the west side of Carelton island it is very close to canadian border for the eyes. Most success for eyes are at night for the most part never really herd of to many banner catches while the sun is up but i could be wrong.. good luck and catch plenty of fish.. MAV
  8. gentleman, with all due respect most of todays equipment is highly advanced and all units are equal in performance to a point as far as im concerned and it really comes down to personal preferance and what one likes and dislikes 1 is not better than the other its just designed differently but serves the same purpose in a different fassion. I have owned several different speed and temp units. i have been fishing with them just as long or longer than any other pro on this lake. I have my oppinions but lets be real. no one can tell you what to buy or what not to buy. Carl is just giving his oppinion on the unit since that was the question asked. and only his oppinion. and i certianly understand the other boys point of view. but there is no need to say one is crap and the others are far superior.I currently switched from a fish hawk to a sub troll 900. absolutley love my unit. blow back is really not that much different and depth is quite accurate. surprisingly.i know this because i have taken the time to find out all of this info on the water myself personally. I used the fish hawk for 18 plus yrs with complete faith in it and it never let me down. not once but after 18 yrs i thought i would try a subtroll 900 for a while. it works great at all depths and speed is right on and temp is close as well. Blow back does exist but not as much as one would think. atleast not for me. and the coated cable is nothing to worry about at all it melts off with a lighter.. easier than drilling wholes in the transom of your boat..I have been happy with both and both are very good units. like i said earlier its personal preferance not performance issues. MAVERICK
  9. Well, What people dont think they own the lake?? not just the 2 miles that all 250 boats are trying to fish on but they want the entire lake.Everyone is out for themselves period. i try to avoid pack fishing at all costs. I hate the crowd. and cant run some of my most productive patterns..But again what to do is stay off the packs. possably lose your fishing for a day?? Most would think not. but one thing is for sure it doesnt matter were you are or what your catching the minute people start to see the net fly they chase you down and so does the pack with them. its hard to stay away from the crowds especially when they got 1000 ft of f----in copper off the back. and then they actually have to ask themselves why they got cut off... Combat fishing will only get better as the year goes on so get ready or until it is figured out by all that no one owns property on water that doesnt have land attatched to it. or you just cant run long lines when you have that many boats in one small spot on the lake.. God forbid you should get 400 ft of space while trying to fish on a hot spot like the can, 6 mile and so on.... Good Luck Maverick
