    Sandy Creek Hamlin

Fished 75-85FOW this morning....Caught 1 nice 20 lb King, one 5-6Lb Atlantic, and another small King around 5 lb. Caught big King on a white green dotted spin doctor with green fly. Setting was 240. Caught the Atlantic and smaller King on an NK spook down 60 off the ball.. Marked some bait in earlier...Thanks for the help....

Thanks for the info....Will post when I'm finished fishing..... Picker Pines
  3. Am going out tomorrow morning from Sandy Creek....Looking for any advice on where to start...Last time out was two weeks ago and we did fairly well in 125FOW down 70feet. Thanks! Picker Pines Paul Firlit
  4. Finally had a chance to take my boat out on the big pond this morning. launched at Sandy Creek around 7:30AM. Set up in 150FOW. Had three hits on free sliders that were fished on a downrigger ball at 95 in 170FOW. Managed to land a 4-5 lb steelhead. Later went shallow. Caught a laker and a king? in 100FOW down 95 on pro king prism lures...
  5. Had a chance to troll Monday morning and took a friend out for the first time....Set up in 175FOW and headed north at around 7:15AM. Had riggers at 65 and 80 with free sliding cheaters. Took a steelhead in around 210FOW on the 80 rigger loaded with a proking lure. Not many marks and no bait around, but still kicked around out there. Picked up another Steelhead off the dipsey set at 180, loaded with a 42nd spinny and green-black fly in 190FOW. There were some large marks, but were very deep 100-120FOW. Finally moved in and found some better screens in the 175FOW range. Caught a nice brown on a free slider armed with a firecracker over 180FOW. Not a lot of action, but boy was it nice to get out there again.... Bucka Pines
  6. Well, I finally was able to get out again on the Big Pond.... Heard some reports and went to deeper water, 150-250 FOW....Kicked around there all morning....Very few marks. Had two hook-ups on the dipseys with flies and lost both....Finally, decided to troll in and whadya know...In about 80 FOW the dipsey fires and there is drag screaming...After a nice 20 minute fight...We landed a nice 17 pound King...Who'd have thunk? 80FOW around 11:30AM.... Needless to say, the friend I took fishing had a great time...There was much more activity in the 80FOW range...Should have started in the skinny...anyway, that's fishing....
  7. Great Father's day on the lake...Thanks for sharing!
  8. Nice fish "Troutman" Here's a 32 1/2 inch steelhead I caught this year on an ultralight spinning rod and 8 pound test.... We are blessed in this neck of the woods! Fish on! Pines
  9. Trolled Sandy Creek out in Hamlin this morning. Did 3 lakers and one steelhead. All fish came off riggers. Steelhead was on a "firecracker" cheater on a ball that was down 70FOW in 140 FOW. Lakers came off the balls set around 65 feet in 85-95 FOW. 2 Lakers hit a proking lure and the largest laker hit a green NBK lure. Nothing on the dipsies....
  10. Got a chance to go fishing with my neighbor this morning. Fished the 80FOW territory. Marked occasional bait pods and hooks. Finally got a nice 28# King on the 60 rigger on a spook NK...Great couple runs by this toughy, but we did end up landed him....Reloaded and about 20 minutes later did another King that was just as stubborn. Weighed 20#. Continued to mark the occasional hook, but called it a day around 11:30AM. Got a bit choppy out there, but not bad.....

Yeah, Sandy Creek in Hamlin.... Brian."Gambler" Gambell....Thanks for all your help in locating fish....Would have went deeper, but my neighbor was happy where we were....Can't wait to get back on the Lake...Still trying to catch something on the lead core... The one dipsey with the yellow NBK fired with a screamer yesterday too...It looked like a big steelie cause I could see it jumping behind the boat.... Hook'em>>>>>>Picker Pines
  12. Fished 60 to 80 FOW out in front of Sandy Creek launch....Caught a couple skippers, a 8# brown and then doubled with a 28# King and 11# steelhead...Needless to say it was a beautiful morning.....All fish came off the riggers down 50 and 60 ft. All fish came off of NK spooks.....Surface temp was around 66..... Picker Pines

    Sandy flip?

Boy...You sure know your lake....I happened to troll this morning out of Sandy Creek this morning....Boats were all in like 40FOW.... Started there. Saw some bait and a few small hooks...Didn't trigger anything so trolled out to 150FOW....Screens were pretty barren....Boats still trolling in so we went back to 60-70FOW....Picked up a couple skippers and an 8# brown...All came about 60 down on riggers....Then got a screamer on the dipsey set at 160, but it came undone....Then on a NK spook had a screamer on the rigger rod that was down 60...Fight on....Had to chase a bit because I thought he was going to spool me.....The other rigger starts pumping and my fishing buddy Bruce grabs the rod....There's a hot ass steelhead dancing across the surface...Well, to make a long story short...We were lucky to land both fish....Mine was a 28pound King and his was an 11 pound steelhead.....This all took place around 11:30AM...Go figure? Anyway, it made for our day..... Picker Pines
