  1. Cayuga veterans: What temps do we need to see for good surface action in the shallows? Last spring we used inlines in the south end in mid April and then worked our way up the east shore, staying fairly close to shore. Is there much of a stix board bite out over the deeper water simultaneously w/ a shallow board bite, especially later in the day? What pattern will the alewives follow for the next 2 months? When they spawn how does that affect the trout and salmon?
  2. Anybody got info about open launch sites at Oswego or Mexico?-Thanks
  3. Guppy, to make the flasher/ fly work best for Lakers you should use them on a wire or super braid dipsy setup. Search this and other forums, the info is all here.
  4. Are you set up to; 1. troll, 2.drift/cast & jig, or 3.shore angling? Also, what species are you most interested in trying to catch? If you are set up to troll, give us a basic idea of what you have to run (i.e., wire or super braid dipsy setups, 2 riggers, lead core or whatever you got on the boat- then we can give you some nuts & bolts info)
  5. I had my 16' yesterday but I could have gotten the Islander thru there, stay starboard as you approach, pass under the bridge, and head out onto the lake (opposite coming in) plenty of room- there was no wind and I could see the bottom very clearly, you could trim up near the bubbler if you want but it did not seem difficult getting out of there at this point.
  6. Got off to a late start, finally put the boat in T-falls at 1:45. Lakers no problem on the usual program, the rest of the action was very slow, caught and released one decent salmon. I was alone so I just ran 1 rigger and or 1 wire. Tried just a board for a bit - nada. I was seeing temps like 35-36 on the surface. Very little wind, really nice to be back on the water even if it was only for a couple hours.
  7. Never made it over to the lake last weekend, gonna try again tomorrow (Sat), can you get in at Treiman or is it too low?
  8. If I get over to the lake at 12 or so will I be able to get in at T-Falls? I heard the bubbler was not working yesterday- were people able to get on the water eventually without it? Any info would be helpful!
  9. My hopes have been shattered! Am I going to have to stick around on Sunday and pretend to be a hard working farmer, or worse, chip away at a bathroom renovation project? Whats up w/ the bubbler @ T-Falls?
  10. Can any body dig up Billy V's tips on setting up tackle for these aspiring Brown trout guy's, real detail in that old post, too long to try to encapsulate but real nuts and bolts stuff.
  11. RR, can we get out of Meyers or is it still iced in? Anybody know about North Point?
  12. Dave, explain the 3 rivers flow picture/ concept again, I can't remember what the deal is- Thanks!
  13. I'm charging up the batteries and putting the toys back in the 16' today- might be out there Sat or Sun if the planets align and the weather is a go! What's the earliest N. Point or Meyers will open?( a lot longer for me to go around the bottom and up to T-Falls)
  14. What length leader do you use on the little dipsy divers if you are using colored ones ( I usually use black Walkers)- Thanks

  16. If Cohos are part of the mix this spring I would like to be able to have some presentations in the water that they want (hoping to be out the in early May) . My sense was that typically they are higher in the water column and prefer smaller baits than the Kings, like peanut or coho flies on short leaders behind the small orange/red flashers. Could somebody familiar w/ these or other setups give me some basic flasher/fly combos, including some leader lengths and other bait suggestions along w/ some starting point depth guide lines. -Thanks
  17. Stinger, I got a bunch of rainbows like that ice fishing on Owasco didn't know they were in Cayuga too! Hey, any speed info for today? I guess I am gonna get out the displays and get the 16' ready for action, she should have no problem at T-Falls. RR, surface temps must be too cold for a planer bite?
  18. Any one going out w/ boards on Cayuga? I am guessing the only place you can launch is T-Falls, don't know how much longer I can wait!
  19. Go to the Howie Fly website, 1000' spools of 30# wire. The Okuma Blue Diamond rods (8'6")paired w/ Daiwa 47 accudepth line counter reels will make a nice pair( Lake Michigan Angler website), you can always get the drags souped up later if you want w/ Penn components. The Walker Mag Dipsy divers are a good choice. You might want to consider biting the bullet and going w/ a track system for the rod holders, then you have flexibility down the road(Bert's or Traxtech). You can search this forum for other posts on wire dipsy rigs.
  20. I would like to be able to run flashers or spoons on my copper lines(have been only running spoons)Will it work out ok to just snap the small 30# Sampo I use for spoons onto the big coast lock that goes to the flasher?
  21. While I was grocery shopping I picked up a pair of Ugly stik BWD 1100 7' at Wally World for $31.00 apiece, seems like a heck of a rod for the money, hopefully they will work out ok.
  22. Which down rigger snap model release do you like, the 18', 30", or the 48", I might get a couple reg. and couple mini, recommendations? -Thanks
  23. Suggestions for a good (but not pricey) 7' med. rod to put my 600 and 300 copper on?
