Your gonna need to jack up the radar on a mount extension or put the spot light off the bow. The light would impare the signal at least a little and in exactly the wrong place (forward). Ive seen others with them right off the bow, granted a remote turning system would be needed if you want to aim it.

I'll just add that fish out of temp can be cranky. Where fish in temp can be a little more workable. Not always though.44-54 , but also fish the marks . Salmon will feed outside them temps . Once August hits , I don’t worry about temps. Fish the marks .

Guess I need to prepare for the worst. Headin to Ozland first weekend of August! I wonder of the fleas haveanegtiveaffect on fish in regards to their gills etc?
you know the weird thing is that it seems to go off the rails for like 2 weeks in July then it is quite manageable after.

Back when they first showed up i thought i had heard (or read) that alewives wouldn't or couldn't eat them because of the spiny features. I always thought of them as a negative because they clog your line AND compete for the same food as the alewives. I guess that info (or at least my recollection)was wrong. Thats good to know that they are a food source for alewives.A picture showing what Sk8man was explaining. Cercopagis or fishhook flea on top, Bythotrephes or spinywater flea on bottom & bigger. Both of them seem to make alewife grow very fast. Cercopagis is usually peaking first in the season, like now, and Byth numbers climb and peak in fall, after they munch down the Cerco. We have this idea that Byth seems to allow Alewife to stay up in the water column feeding, later in the fall than they used to before we had them. Fascinating and frustrating!
I just finished setting up 2 new Blood Run diver rods to saw through the snot. That BR wire is really nice to handle.

Its a damn shame Cortland doesnt make the flea flicker line anymore. I got lucky and bought a 2500yd spool of 30# just before it was all gone. Im still working with it and have 1000yds left. Im gonna cry when its gone. I barely get anything on my rigger lines.

Based on what I'm seeing I wouldn't rule out Wright's landing yet. as of now while the marina is closed the ramp and the parking for the ramps seem to be okay The future is uncertain though but this season is probably still okay something to look into for youI normally fish out of Wrights in Oswego however since Wrights seems to be out of commission until god knows when,if ever would like to know just how crowded Mexico launch is in July and August.I haven't fished there in 20 years.

Is the parking really that bad. I'm thinking of coming up with my two sons Friday or Saturday. I don't want to make the two-hour drive just to have to go find another port.

For now the word seems to be that its fine. Comments are about the final plans which remain to be seen.

No,
I see others posting differently about launching (not the marina). If its not ideal but workable, let them go there. Don't draw them to Mexico unless its true. I've seen your posts (in general) so I'll say I'm not sure which is which. If I'm wrong I apologize, if you are poop stirring please don't.

Just received 2 of his 12 lb shark style weights, nice workmanship, fair price and fast shipping, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how the shape equates to less blowback, Happier than a pig in poop
In case this helps. I have his weights in 3 sizes. One thing I have taken to doing is putting a very slight kick in the tail and making one specific to each side port / starboard. It helps for deeper conditions fishing in some current. I had a pair of 12#'ers get together 1 time in cross current fishing deep. No big deal, ended well. I put the kick in the tail and never had an issue since.

Can anyone tell me what the spoon is in the lower right corner of the third picture? Cool idea by the way to help out newcomers and pass along some generosity.

No intention of bashin anyone. I didnt know he was 13. Pretty cool hes gettin into trollin at a young age. I’m sure he will do the right thing.
You did good and your intentions and actions were awesome. Kids will be kids, dads will be dads and the whole of us will continue to obsess over (and enjoy) a sport that makes us nutty at times. If it didn't make me nutty I wouldn't want in on it every year so bad!

Calendar. June +/- is always a challenging month. Equal spread of preferred water temps always spreads the fish.

Set your deepest rigger first....
This! …….and when a deeper rigger fires, put the shallower rigger at the deeper rigger location and set the original deep rigger to the shallow position. If you want the same lure back in the deeper spot, when both are set, pull the deep one, move the shallower one deep and reset the shallower one. I learned a while ago that passing riggers (especially with flashers) can be dicey. Admittedly I tend to set my lines further back which makes it more of a potential concern. Perfect conditions and shallower-er, no problem (wider transom helps) Deeper you go the hairier it gets especially below 80 ish feet, especially > 100. My port and starboard shark weights have a slight kick in the back fin to make them plane out just a little. My center rear rigger (when I run it) is my shallowest rigger and set last. I may loose some time with my philosophy, but I don't tangle rigger lines or weights anymore so I think my time spent saves time in the long run. I really only tangled rigger balls once....fishing deep with a narrow transom boat and shark weights without the kick (plus a solid current below). I tangled lines plenty of times (in the past) and made lots of balls of twisted fuzz.

Anyone do this on a Fishmaster? I'm thinking about it. More for the rocket launcher, lights etc than radar

I wouldnt try to get towed in with that but for how you describe the use, as long as your bolts have full or at least 3/4 thread engagement you should be fine. If it rips out then you have bigger problems or take you family swimming in some crazy conditions.Anybody using a traxstech cleat to anchor their boat while hanging out in the bays swimming or just floating? I recently installed a bow mount TM and lost the space for my cleat. I have a 24" track on the bow with a backing plate that my planer mast goes in so I confident the track should be ok but concerned about the cleat possibly pulling out of the base plate. I would not use in rough conditions or emergency situations I have other cleats on the boat. The TM has spot lock so not going to see a lot of use while fishing just when the family is out and I don't want the spot lock running while we are swimming around it. The boat is a 20' aluminum open bow. It is a minimal investment like $30 just trying to avoid wasting a day on the water or worse hurting someone if I get out there and it breaks right away.
Thanks
Terry

Noooo…..hopefully it changes. I got shut down this weekend because my wife and I were one step too close to someone who got this covid crap. I was supposed to come up last Thursday. We bailed just to be cautious and our potential connection tested negative....finally on Monday. I still have yet to float my boat. When I do I might troll until I run out of gas out of spite!

I’m on year three at this big lake fishing after fishing for small lake fish my whole life. I finally have a well outfitted 28’ boat now and can consistently avoid the skunking but by no means able to compete with that video. If I can find active fish I usually have a good day. I need some knowledge on how the winds blow the water around, where the “warm water” comes from, trolling direction/speed best practices in currents and such if anyone wants to share. I’m out of I Bay. Went 9/10 on Saturday, 1/1 on Sunday and 2/2 today. Happy, sad,sad
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario UnitedI found out a long time ago that it only takes 1 good day to suck you into this and endure lots of days of not so good fishing always looking for that great day again!

Thanks dad. You be sure to let me know when its ok to sit at the adult table k? Oh thats right, I've fished this lake for 35 years, respect it like no other and learned a long time ago not to believe everything i hear. If you can resurrect my father from the grave so i can fish with him again and abide by your rules that would be great. Until then mind your own business.

I seen your boat and camp opened up when I was coming in. I was on my way over to see how you are doin And if you been out, but the wife and I got intercepted by your neighbors and that turned into a 30 min conversation, lost track of time and had to get on the road.
come to think of it. We were all social distancing in a circle around a red squirrel. Kinda looked like the party got the best of him.Yeah those squirrels better be distant from me in the future lol. Thought I saw your boat pass by while I was on the roof. Glad to see your reports etc. and that your getting fish. At this rate I'll probably finally get tuned in right in time for the June slow down of fishing while the thermocline sets up (haha). I'll still go anyway. Current plan is to come up next weekend, possibly Friday. If you are up I'll try to catch up and say hi.

IMHO no one should be out there fishing alone unless your tethered to a kill switch ,even.then its questionable at best . I sure wouldn't want to be legaly responsible for running any kind of tourney with a 1 person limit. To many things can.go wrong , should be same rule as diving alone.
Well everyone is entitled to their opinion. Those of us who do fish solo do so with proper planning and precautions (at least I do) but thanks for jumping on here to imply I (we) don't. Fair point on the tourney however I would say HB2 is talking about something that is a far cry from formally organized.
HB2.....I might actually be interested in something like this even though you guys to the west have it easy! lol.
Can I mount a spotlight in front of my radar dome?

high position aiming down-ish sounds good to me. You just watch out with that super awesome aiming system. I can retaliate with high intensity mountain bike lighting to the rear
